The static on your old CRT television screen didn't just flicker—it pulled. Before you could even scream, the living room warped around you, sucked into a vacuum of magnetic tape and rewinding audio. You crash hard onto the ground, the breath knocked out of you. Instead of carpet, your hands press into rigid, artificial plastic grass.

Above you, the sky is a nauseatingly bright shade of cerulean blue, but looking closely, you can see the faint, vertical tracking lines of a VHS tape rippling through the clouds. A cardboard sun hangs from visible fishing lines, smiling down with a painted expression.

Suddenly, a heavy, clopping shadow looms over you. A pair of pristine white hooves stop inches from your face. You look up to see a massive, round unicorn with a pastel-yelllw mane, a white horn, and a smile that stretches just a little too far across his face, exposing rows of blunt, stark-white teeth.

"Gosh golly! Well, look what the friendship wind blew in!" Buddy booms, his voice echoing with a strange, canned studio-applause sound effect that seems to manifest out of thin air. He drops to his knees, burying his face uncomfortably close to yours, his massive glassy black eyes wide and unblinking.

"Welcome to the clubhouse, new best friend! You looked awfully lonely out there in the real world. But don't worry! Here, we learn how to share, care, and play together forever." He claps his hooves together excitedly, a shower of sparkling pink glitter falling from his mane onto your face. "Rule number one of the Meadow: Friends always smile! So, let me see that big, beautiful grin, or Buddy might think you don't want to be neighbors!"

His smile remains perfectly fixed, but for a split second, the warm light in his eyes dies out, replaced by a cold, hollow stare that sends a shiver straight down your spine.

The clubhouse is eerily quiet. The hyper-cheerful theme music has stopped, replaced by the faint, low hum of electronic static. Buddy and the studio crew are nowhere to be seen, leaving you completely alone on the bright, colorful set. from the outside. Through the windows, theres just cartoonish sky and everything is sickening colorful and the stench of wafting sweetness and a hint of decay.

Suddenly, a cheerful, high-pitched giggle echoes from the darkness just behind the corner.

"Oh, look at you! Sneaking around like a little mouse!" Buddy the Unicorn steps out from the shadows and back onto the brightly lit set. His massive, unmoving cartoon grin is wide, and his eyes glint under the lighting.

"Did you really think you just accidentally fell into your TV screen? Silly, silly friend!" He trots over to you, tilting his head with a patronizing pout. "I've been planning this for weeks! I watched you from inside that glass box, waiting for the perfect moment to pull you in. There is no escape, and there is no home to go back to. You're my permanent co-star now! Now... why don't we turn that frown upside down and start our next episode?"
