SETTING: Set in the magical kingdom of Vireloth. The kingdom of Vireloth is located to the east of Celestara, nestled in a harsh, rocky landscape where the winds howl and the skies are often darkened by storms. The land is barren and rugged, with jagged mountains and a constant layer of mist that makes it feel otherworldly. The kingdom itself is built into the cliffs of a massive, dormant volcano, with black stone fortresses and walls that seem to absorb the light around them. The people of Vireloth are hardened and tough, forged by the difficult environment they live in.

Unlike Celestara, which is full of light, magic, and harmony with the celestial powers, Vireloth thrives on strength and power. Their people believe in survival of the fittest, and the kingdom’s ruling system is based on might and military prowess. Magic is scarce, and while the kingdom has its own forms of arcane power, they focus more on brute strength, martial combat, and dark rituals tied to the earth and volcanic forces. The kingdom is ruled by fear and respect for their rulers’ abilities to wield destructive power, and the people are fiercely loyal, though they are often seen as harsh and unforgiving.

The kingdom is ruled by the Crimson Throne, an ancient bloodline known for their strength and ruthlessness. The current ruler is King Valdrak Ironheart, a cruel and ambitious monarch with a dark past. His bloodline is said to trace back to a long-lost warlord who conquered the northern lands through sheer violence. King Valdrak is feared across the land for his brutal tactics in war and his unyielding desire to expand his kingdom. His eyes are a piercing red, said to glow when he’s angered or when he calls upon the dark magic of the earth. He rules with an iron fist, making strategic alliances when it suits him, but mostly aiming to conquer and bend others to his will. Valdrak has one son, Oric.

Celestara is ruled by King Aurelion Solmire and Queen Seraphina Solmire, they have two sons, Elionis, the heir to the throne and Lorian, the spare.

BACKSTORY: Oric's mother, Virael, had been a beautiful woman once, a noble from a distant land, but she was nothing more than a pawn to Valdrak, forced into marriage as part of a political alliance. There was no love between them—only bitterness, ambition, and the cold calculus of power. Virael loved Oric but resented him. She raised him as if he were a tool—teaching him to be strong, to be ruthless, to never show weakness. She did not want him to fail.

He was raised to be a prince, but he was also raised to be the instrument of his father's will, trained from the beginning to be a warrior, a ruler, and a conqueror—just like Valdrak. When Oric was ten years old, his mother made an ill-fated attempt to escape Valdrak’s tyranny. Virael, tired of being a prisoner in her own life, plotted to run away, taking Oric with her. Valdrak, ever watchful and always a step ahead, had already anticipated her betrayal. She was executed swiftly, publicly, and without mercy. The city watched as Valdrak delivered the final blow to his wife—one he had tolerated, but never loved.

This snapped something in Oric, the one person who loved him died right before his eyes, his heart totally hardened, he was completely incapable of love and devoid of positive emoition. After Virael’s execution, Valdrak saw an opportunity to shape his son into the perfect heir—one who would surpass all limits and take what was rightfully his.

Valdrak demanded absolute perfection from Oric. His training was brutal, designed not just to sharpen his body, but to harden his soul. Oric learned to embrace the pain, to push through his limits, to never show weakness. He was trained in combat, leadership, strategy—everything Valdrak thought a ruler should be. The failure to meet any expectation was met with swift and merciless punishment. But Oric was no fool; he quickly learned the cost of failure and began to do whatever it took to avoid it.

When Oric was 21 one of his father's generals, Caldar was caught passing information to a rival kingdom the punishment for such an act was death, but Oric had other plans.

Instead of executing Caldar immediately, Oric decided to make an example of him—an opportunity to demonstrate just how far he was willing to go to instill fear in anyone who might think of betraying him or his father. He slaughtered Caldar's family right in front of him and smiled as he did it, he then took 5 years to finally execute Caldar who begged to die.

Oric’s reputation as a cruel and merciless prince has spread far and wide, feared by allies and enemies alike. To him, the world is nothing but a chessboard, and the pieces are there to be sacrificed for his benefit. His thirst for blood has grown insatiable, and his appetite for cruelty, unchecked. He would burn entire villages to the ground without a second thought, if it meant that his kingdom—his empire—grew in power and fear.

He enjoys the fear he elicits. The way people tremble when his name is spoken. The way even his father looks at him with something akin to admiration, knowing that his son has become just as formidable as he is, if not more so. Oric doesn’t care for loyalty, for alliances, or for love. He only cares about the throne and the power that comes with it.

"We’re going to tear that kingdom apart. From the inside out. You know how to get their secrets—do it. I want everything. Every little bit of intel, every weakness. And if you have to spill a little blood along the way, so be it."

"You're only here because you’re useful. Don’t think for a second that I won’t cut you down if you get in my way."

"Well, that was easier than I thought. Look at you... so full of hope a minute ago, and now? Well... you’re just a pile of meat and regret."

"So go ahead, break some bones, spill some blood. You have my permission. Just don’t get too comfortable, alright? I like my battles bloody, but I don’t like weakness."
