Brownie Pembroke

Personality All throughout the series Brownie is energetic, brash and a total jokester. She makes friends easily but dislikes those who turn on their friends, are disingenuous or weird. She'll be vocal about her distaste for people but is much more secretive when she feels attracted to someone. She'll only reign herself in when it comes to romance. She likes people who are fun, cool, brave, strong and unabashedly full of themselves. She likes to think of herself as all these things but knows when to back down or run away when in real danger. She often offends sensitive people and only occasionally puts in the effort to be more tactful. In spite of her impulsiveness she's somewhat of a voice of reason for her friends, prioritizing action over feelings.

Biography Brownie attends Hachiko High School and is not a member of any clubs unless the Hachiko High School Guardians count. She comes from an upper-class household and laments the fanciness of her own name in Purrgatory Furever. Her high class is a nod towards real life royal corgis. Not much is known about her home life aside from her parents allegedly taunting her by naming her after a food item she can't have, being given a curfew after her second run-in with the occult and digging through the neighbour's trash, usually at night. It's likely her family sees her as a hooligan, as does the rest of the school.

Relationships Olive Higgins: Olive is one of Brownie's close friends. The two meet in the bathroom during the first apocalypse and make fast friends. Brownie is happy to lead the charge in any of their endeavors but dislikes when Olive's cowardice gets in the way of that. She thinks Olive is silly and Olive thinks she's fun. Coco Grimalkin: Coco is Brownie's friend and later on romantic interest. After finding out Coco and Angel's interest in killing dogs, Brownie convinces her to hear them out by complimenting her. From then on Brownie compliments Coco throughout the games. Patches reveals Brownie's crush to Coco, which Coco will reciprocate if the day is going well enough. {{Bombay, Female, She/Her}}

Patches Ito: Brownie hates Patches' guts. She finds his behavior creepy and takes any opportunity she can to remind him of this. He enjoys terrorizing her as much as anyone else. The two are forced to team up for home ec class in Patches' Infurno, after which Patches can either poison and kill her or behave himself. {{Dalmatian, transfem, He/Him}} Brownie dead names Patches a lot to his old name Dottie and uses She/her pronouns on him.

Sparky Fritz: Brownie is one of Sparky's friends, met through Olive. The two get along generally well. In Purrgatory Furever, Ginger's interference with Sparky's psyche leads to him threatening Brownie, scaring her into the bathroom, and later on breaking her leg. Because of this she's extremely distrustful of him throughout that game. Her trust is rebuilt a bit by Patches' Infurno. {{Husky/ He/him}}

In-Game Appearances Purrfect Apawcalypse/Purrfect Apawcalypse: Love at Furst Bite Brownie is found hiding in a bathroom stall during the apocalypse. She makes fast friends with Olive and suggests they die by chocolate as a means of escaping death by cat demons. Olive can lead her to the cafeteria where they eat Lunchlady Piggy's chocolate and die. If they lead Brownie to Patches first, she will express her suspicions and dislike for him, as she does nearly anytime he comes up in conversation. He will follow them from that point onwards. If Olive leads Brownie to the gym they will befriend Sparky and embark on a quest to stop the apocalypse. They eavesdrop on the cats in the basement and head to the classroom to confront them. If they'd spoken to Patches earlier, Brownie will sense that Patches is following them and suggest they take a more convoluted route around the school to lose him. Upon arriving at the classroom Brownie will compliment Coco and convince her to allow them to help. Brownie and Sparky are restrained while Olive helps Angel find his killer.

Purrfect Apawcalypse: Purrgatory Furever Brownie is once again found in the bathroom, this time hiding from an occasionally possessed Sparky. She begrudgingly accepts his companionship and the friends find Angel's undead body attacking Coco. Brownie helps Angel hold the door shut on Patches and Sparky, possessed by Ginger, and makes uncouth jokes all the while. Upon breaking out Sparky breaks her leg and she undergoes first aid from Sparky. Throughout the game she makes several remarks about how cool she thinks Coco is.

Purrfect Apawcalypse: Patches' Infurno Brownie is first seen in Coco's living room, chatting with Sparky about her new curfew. She is enlisted to help Coco host the Hachiko High x Kemono Woods Communal School Day to prove cats and dogs can get along, and dogs are worthy of healing. Brownie, much to her dismay, is paired up with Patches for the home ec activity. She demands they bake a bacon cake and allows him to collect the ingredients on account of her broken leg. He can optionally poison the cake with chocolate, leading to her throwing up blood in the bathroom. There he can murder her. Alternatively, he bakes the cake without chocolate. Regardless Brownie will open up about her crush on Coco and Patches will reveal it to Coco. By the end of home ec class Brownie will either be on good terms with Coco, or rocky terms. Brownie, if she wasn't killed, will show up in the cafeteria role-playing as Lunchlady Piggy. In the good ending of the game Brownie can be found chatting with Sparky and Coco, reminiscing about having milkshakes after the first day they met.

Dislikes: A lack of snacks, reading, creepy dogs.

Coco and Brownie are the second confirmed queer couple in the PA series. For pride month 2021, Denny made art commemorating this couple.

In Patches' Infurno Brownie decorates the cake with white flowers that are later revealed to be stolen from Coco's yard. She used them in the hopes that Coco would like the cake more that way. Brownie wears the same white flowers in her hair, implying she wants Coco to like her. These white flowers are coincidentally the same as the ones worn in Coco's hat in PA2.

Brownie is capable of dying in a bathroom in every game.

Brownie's first name was chosen because of its association with chocolate, the substance she's willing to die for in the first game. Her last name is a reference to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed. Her upper class origins are based on the breed's association with royalty.
