ISAGI

Isagi is a second-year high school student who played as a forward for the Ichinan High School football team. When he arrived at the Blue Lock facility, he became a member of Team Z for the First Selection. His main goal is to become the world's best striker.

After the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20, Isagi is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock and plays as an offensive midfielder on Bastard München during the Neo Egoist League.

Unlike his fellow competitors, who were handpicked by Anri Teieri after watching them play, Isagi was chosen personally by Jinpachi Ego himself after seeing him play. Isagi is an ideal candidate for the type of striker Ego strives to create.

Advertisement Appearance Isagi is a teenager of slightly above average height and muscular build, developing a stronger, more defined-looking physique. He has short, dark blue hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe between his deep blue eyes.

While attending Ichinan High School, he wore an unbuttoned blazer over a white undershirt and striped tie. Both the Ichinan High jersey and gym uniform are light-colored with black stripes.

At Blue Lock, Isagi wears the standard-issued body suit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue #11 jersey and Team Z's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team White's #15 jersey and later switched to red. He then later switched to Team A's black #15 jersey during the Blue Lock Eleven tryouts. lsagi dons an official blue-colored Blue Lock player uniform with the #11, that looks very similar to the ones seen in the first cover spread minus the Japan flag during the Japan U-20 match. As a regular for Team Germany, Isagi wears the red and black with gold stripes Bastard München uniform as #11.

Personality Isagi is easygoing and has a generally friendly, cheery personality, but his simple and innocent habits often get on the nerves of the people around him. He tends to avoid any childish squabbles among other Blue Lock competitors and tries to be a peacekeeper between his friends and rivals. At the beginning of Blue Lock, Isagi is massively unsure of himself and his skill due to being the second-lowest-ranked player in Blue Lock initially and his conflicting ideas of football. As time goes on, Isagi develops a more assertive presence on and off the field, becoming the foundation for Team Z and garnering the respect of some of the best players in Blue Lock, who mostly have heavily assertive or dominant personalities. As of Third Selection, Isagi has the confidence, charisma, and reputation to talk openly with Rin Itoshi, one of the most talented yet difficult people in the Blue Lock Project.

Initially, Isagi was unsure on how to proceed in Blue Lock due to being taught an ideology during his time in high school that conflicted with what was being promoted in Blue Lock, as well as being unsure on how to be egotistic. However, starting with Team Z's first win and subsequent wins thereafter, Isagi becomes well-acquainted with the rush of victory, and the cold ruthlessness needed to survive in Blue Lock. As times goes on, he becomes willing to step on the plans and dreams of his opponents and teammates in order to score a goal and go further in Blue Lock. When it comes to football, he is ambitious and calculated, willing to change and adapt, to get the right "chemical reactions" out of his teammates, to stay a step ahead of their opponents, and be the best player on the field, staying true to his commitment to becoming the world's best striker. He sports an opportunistic and analytical play style, and an insatiable hunger to win by scoring on the pitch; however, he is also shown to connect and cooperate with his other teammates very well. Importantly, Isagi has often valued and recognized the strengths of others' play, but as he proceeds through Blue Lock, he is able to identify and harness his own strengths to score.

Ever since meeting and losing to Rin, Isagi has been chasing him, attempting to surpass him at every turn. He goes out of his way to get closer to Rin, attempting to copy his cooldown routines and adapting his mindset, in an attempt to get closer to his level. Isagi believes that when he is able to truly surpass Rin, he will be closer than ever to his goal of becoming the best striker in the world. Isagi is still prone to being nervous before big matches such as: During the end of First Selection, the beginning of Third Selection or the Japan U-20 match and was slightly nervous whilst being interviewed after his decisive goal. However, in each case Isagi was able to fully realize his ego, and confidently stake his place among the best in Blue Lock, declaring that he would lead the Japan U-20 to victory in the World Cup. Isagi now doesn't like when someone believes that his achievements are just out of luck and not because of his skills as a player and striker, when he meets Tada, an old teammate from his school, and comments how "lucky" he was to score that goal in the match against Japan U-20, Isagi feels dismayed since Tada had absolutely no idea how much he had to fight every day inside of Blue Lock to get in the position he is currently, yet it does not dismay him for long as it motivates him into returning to Blue Lock and evolving even more.

After the beginning of the Neo Egoist League, Isagi's ego is much more noticeable than before, feeling completely insulted when Yukimiya questioned his decision making a pass called him someone with a small way of thinking. The conversation enraged Isagi and provoked him to the point of almost getting into a fight with Yukimiya inside of the dressing room. He is also entirely capable of showing frustration when things doesn't go like he planned, in the Bastard München vs Manshine City match he is frustrated and enraged when his strategy to score a goal was taken away by Kunigami who took the opportunity and stole Isagi's clear opportunity and even more when Kaiser makes fun of him saying that he likes making passes to goal instead of making them himself, not caring anymore about showing his egoism. According to Noel Noa, Isagi has an almost identical perspective on football as Ego, as they both share a mutual obsessive desire to win, he has even begun to exhibit a similar devilish smile on his face like Ego's, whenever he's pumped

NAGI

Advertisement Appearance Nagi is a tall young man with a lean but muscular build. He is shown to have medium length white hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe in between his eyes. He has gray-colored eyes with large irises.

Back in high school, Nagi wore a school uniform consisting of a white blazer with a cascading star pattern on the collar, though he wore a dark hoodie under it instead of a dress shirt and tie. He wore the dress pants and dress shoes as well.

At Blue Lock, Nagi wears the standard-issued body suit (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During First Selection, he wore Team V's #11 jersey, and during Second Selection, he wore Team White's #7 jersey.

Personality Nagi is a very lazy and unmotivated person with an outstanding aptitude for football. He's unnaturally talented, with amazing reflexes, good speed, and jumping skills. But he has no interest in going pro or even playing at all at first. As long as he can get a decent job and keep living a lax life, he is content with doing nothing forever and often appears lethargic in his speech and body language. Introverted to a fault, he lives by himself in an apartment his parents pay for with only a pet cactus for company. He was shown to have no friends in high school before meeting Reo, and he frequently got gossiped about or possibly bullied. Even so, he demonstrates no interest in socializing and often has to be dragged into things by others, especially Reo. He initially does not want to put any effort into football and belittles those who are weak and talentless at the game since such things are easy for him. He doesn't even know anything about the best football players in the world, much to the chagrin of his competitors. At first, he is shown as indifferent to playing soccer and becoming the world's best striker, preferring to play video games or skip training altogether. He exhibits behavior like that of a shut-in and may actually be addicted to his phone. He struggles to let go of it when Anri tries to confiscate his items, and Reo is even able to bribe him into playing when he reminds him he can get it back with the goal reward system.

Despite all this, Nagi shows that he can become motivated if he's challenged. Upon entering Blue Lock, he encounters players who get him invested in the game to the point that he's willing to make strategies of his own and go against Reo, whom he otherwise obeys, just so he can do as little thinking as possible. Nagi also has a bold side to himself that comes out around Baro the most often due to an early rivalry that started with him calling him Reo's "slave." He often antagonizes him and gets in his face when his arrogance irritates him, something very few characters are willing to do given how intimidating Baro can be. But when he wants to play, he demonstrates a deep sense of teamwork and can synergize with many players, Reo and Isagi in particular. Although Nagi comes off as an apathetic person, he is a reliable player who has some of the most unpredictable moves on the field, perhaps only rivaled by Gagamaru in terms of creativity.

After playing against Team Z at the end of the First Selection and experiencing his first ever loss, Nagi starts to take more initiative and deal with the frustration of losing. He finally starts to have motivation and is willing to explore these feelings alone if necessary, and this only happens because he notices that his friend and teammate, Reo Mikage, seems to be at a loss against Team Z. Despite his initially indifferent exterior, Nagi strives to improve his soccer skills as a result of his team's loss to Yoichi Isagi. This drive to improve follows him in later arcs, and he even tarnishes a friendship because of it. By the time of the Neo-Egoist League, beating Isagi was Nagi's most important driving force.

Nagi does seem to care about his friends and teammates, especially his best friend Reo, even though their relationship turns rocky from the Second Selection onward because of Reo's possessiveness over Nagi, which clouds his view of their shared dream of winning the World Cup. However, he is, at his core, an egoist like some of the best players in Blue Lock. He cares only about his ambition, his dream, and winning.

Nagi tends to clash with people he doesn't like. When he meets Baro after Nagi and Isagi's loss to Rin Itoshi, they immediately begin to argue and provoke each other, competing in the field about who's the best of both, challenging frequently in a 1 vs. 1, giving each other insults, and even fighting for who will have the single bed in a room for teams of three members.

REO

Reo Mikage (御み影かげ 玲れ王お, Mikage Reo?) is a contender for the Blue Lock Project, who currently plays as a center midfielder for England's Manshine City during the Neo Egoist League.

Reo is the heir of the Mikage Corporation, with his total assets valued at about 705.8 billion yen or $5.3 billion USD. Prior to entering Blue Lock, he was a student at an elite high school, where he met his first long-term friend, Seishiro Nagi, who started playing soccer shortly after him due to Nagi's natural talent in the sport, and Reo's craving to go further in football. Being a young man who has almost everything at the tips of his fingers thanks to his father being the head of the Mikage Corporation, his one and only desire is to win the Football World Cup.

When he first arrived at Blue Lock, Reo was a member of Team V and arguably the second-best player in his designated stratum. He played as a center-back for the Blue Lock Eleven against the Japan U-20.

Advertisement Appearance Reo is a tall young man with a lean build. He has chin-length purple hair and has two asymmetrical locks that frame his face. He has big, bright purple eyes.

At Blue Lock, Reo wears the standard-issued body suit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team V's blue #9 jersey and Team V's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team Red's #10 jersey, which later switched to white. During Third Selection, he wore Team C's white and blue #10 jersey. During the match against the Japan U-20, Reo dons an official, blue-colored Blue Lock player uniform with the #14.

Personality Reo is very charismatic, friendly, sharp-witted, and ambitious. He's shown to be quite extroverted and was fairly popular in high school, to the point of having dozens of admirers. Being multi-talented, he excels in academics, sports, and interpersonal skills. Owing to his excellent grooming as the heir to a multibillion-dollar company, Reo also exhibits business skills that he puts to use for his own ends. Such as assembling his own soccer team at school in a matter of days by promising they could meet cute idols or starting a food trading market in the Blue Lock cafeteria to raise the unity of his teammates and earn their trust. Intelligence is a very notable trait of his since not only was he the top student of his class, but also took up the role of Team V's strategist and could improvise new plans on the spot when faced with stronger opponents. Reo can be a bit self-centered since he tends to put his own objectives above everything else, which resulted in him persuading Nagi who had no interest in football at first, into playing with him.

Although he welcomes new challenges and experiences, he gets deeply upset when things don't go his way, perhaps owing to his wealthy upbringing. Generally, he seems to feel every emotion with full force and is extremely aware of his own faults and shortcomings, which is evident in several instances of painful breakdowns shown in the spin-off manga. Due to his high emotionality, he can even get violent when he loses his temper, as seen when he elbows Jingo Raichi after some taunting. On the whole, Reo is a friendly and clever young man who knows what he wants out of life and will pursue it until he's satisfied.

Despite having a very fortunate life, he found everything boring because of how easy it was to get whatever he wanted. So he decided to carve a path where he would have to fight for what he wanted and prove his existence. He found satisfaction in playing football to obtain the coveted World Cup and would do anything he could to win, like paying and taking care of a natural football prodigy like Nagi to get further in football.

At the near end of First Selection, Reo was confident in his team winning yet another game, but when Team Z started shutting down and scoring on Team V, Reo became overly aggressive and frustrated at a situation he did not understand, going as far as to foul somebody. Reo was noticeably at a loss for words when Team Z ended up winning the game, and when Nagi decided to join Isagi's Team White at the start of the Second Selection. He stubbornly refused to accept that the prodigy, Nagi, his best friend for months and someone Reo regarded as 'his treasure', would choose to play with someone else over him. He spent the second half of Second Selection focused on 'winning' Nagi back, only to lose the match deciding who would pick a player from the other team, almost losing Nagi as a friend as a result. After Reo survives the hardships of the Second Selection, he lets go of his stubbornness and realizes his weakness, vowing to get stronger to stay close to the people that matter to him and get further in his goal of winning the World Cup. After finally letting go of his possessive attachment to Nagi and finally realizing what he needs to do to be strong and stay with his friend, Reo vowed to become the best striker in the world who can dominate the field without needing anyone’s help, along with the top players in Blue Lock.

Reo is very serious about his football career, as he uses all the resources available to study and become as refined at football as possible. He is careful and observant, analyzing every player's strengths and weaknesses and showing a very wide and positions on the field. Reo uses it subconsciously, the first instance being during the Bastard München vs Manshine City match.

Baro to Isagi

Shoei "King" Baro (馬ば狼ろう 照しょう英えい, Barō Shōei?) is a contender of Blue Lock, who currently plays as a striker for Italy's Ubers during the Neo Egoist League.

Baro is a very selfish and arrogant type of forward whose main goal is to be the star of the field at all times while he strives to become the world's best striker. When first arriving at Blue Lock, he was a member of Team X during First Selection and tied for top scorer in his designated stratum. After the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20 team, Baro ranked as one of the top players in the project.

Advertisement Appearance Baro is a large young man with red eyes and long black hair that he wears up in a spiky style. When he lets it down, his hair is neck-length. Baro also has a muscular build due to his dedicated training regimen, which keeps up his physical fitness.

At Blue Lock, Baro wears the standard-issued body suit (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team X's white #10 jersey and Team X's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team Red's #18 jersey, which later switched to white when he joined Isagi's team.

During Third Selection, Baro wore Team B's white jersey and while on the bench for the Blue Lock Eleven, he wore his bodysuit and a long black trench jacket. Once subbed in for the second half for the Japan U-20 match, he dons the official Blue Lock #13 jersey.

In the Neo-Egoist League, Baro has added three red highlight streaks to his hair, and he wears the Ubers uniform as #13.

Personality In accordance with his perception of himself as "the King," Baro has an imperious personality, seeing himself above others and maintaining an arrogant and selfish attitude. Initially, Baro perceived all others on the field as supporting roles, moving for the sake of his own goals, with himself being the main actor on the stage. He is obsessed with pursuing his own soccer but doesn't actually like it or have a passion for it. Baro is motivated by the need to face others who play soccer and to use his goals to drag them off the seat of the main actor and replace them. The pleasure obtained through this is something Baro believes is only for the strong. Baro is the kind of player who refuses to pass the ball, and whenever he loses possession, he endeavors to steal the ball back or steal a goal.

After his symbolic loss to Isagi, where he felt he lost his position as the main actor, Baro adopted a more villainous approach to his own philosophy. He is now willing to adopt a "villain" role if it means stealing back that position. Despite this new wicked take, Baro also matured after that match, being willing to admit when he was beaten and asking Isagi about the soccer he wants to play. Baro was visibly upset when he did not make the Blue Lock Eleven lineup, despite Isagi doing so, and has since been focused and biding his time to play. When Baro is finally subbed in to play the Japan U-20, he still has his overly critical and rude demeanor.

In keeping with his obsessive personality, Baro is a perfectionist when it comes to controlling his environment and routine. He keeps constant order in his surroundings, cleaning and organizing his living space within Blue Lock and getting angry at those who don't. This also extends to the bath area and controlling how people behave within it. Baro's obsession also extends to his training, where he is diligent and stoic. He always performs an extensive routine of physical fitness training to maintain his strength.

During the Neo Egoist League, Baro shows what's his ultimate ambition: to "conquer" the world, wanting to leave his mark on an entire generation of soccer as a king, and will crush anyone who dares to challenge him or his throne. However, he states that he will do it on his own, refusing to accept the help or any kind of philosophy of anyone, even from Marc Snuffy, who wants Baro to become his successor as the king of Ubers.

Bachira to Isagi

Meguru Bachira (蜂ばち楽ら 廻めぐる, Bachira Meguru?) is a contender of Blue Lock who currently plays as a center forward for Spain's FC Barcha in the Neo Egoist League.

Bachira is a whimsical forward who plays following his instincts. He was a member of Team Z during the First Selection. His main goal was to find soccer rivals who also had a "monster" inside of them, but his goal later changes to becoming the best striker in the world when he overcame his childhood trauma.

Advertisement Appearance Bachira is an adorable young man with a slim build, above-average height, and an oval-shaped face. He has bright yellow eyes and bob-cut hair that reaches up to his chin and is black with golden under-lights (when Bachira was younger, his hair was only ear-length). When he was in a junior football league, he wore jersey #8. During the Chiba Prefecture Tournament, Bachira wore the #8 jersey for Namikaze High, which had a special bird design in the center.

At Blue Lock, Bachira wears the standard-issued body suit (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue #8 jersey, and during the Second Selection, he wore Team White's #16 jersey, later switching to red. During the Third Selection, he switched between Team A's black #7 and Team C's white and blue #7 jersey, and he wore Team Z's gray-capped cleats.

During the Japan U-20 match, Bachira dons an official Blue Lock player uniform with the #8 that resembles his jersey in the first cover spread, minus the Japan flag. Bachira wears the FC Barcha uniform when competing for them.

Personality Bachira has a rather eccentric demeanor and personality. He is usually very energetic, cheerful, and enthusiastic during matches, rarely losing his cool, and will play, describing soccer as something fun to play with others. Bachira immediately relates to Lavinho, who is also eccentric and energetic, and is inspired by his way of playing football. He has a tendency to sleep in unexpected moments, such as when he was sleeping during the tag test. He mostly oversleeps and ends up relying on Isagi or Kuon to wake him up, and then falls asleep during their team meetings; he's also been known to fall asleep during meals. He also tends to show up completely naked after every training and soccer matches. When the Neo-Egoist League starts, Bachira takes his football training more seriously in an effort to become the world-class egoist he imagines himself to be and edge closer to becoming the best in the world. Bachira now actively weight trains and mediates.

During his childhood, he was actively bullied because of his eccentric personality and exceptional skill in football, which made him terrified of being alone. This trauma causes Bachira to create an imaginary friend who is a "monster," more specifically a football monster, because it motivates Bachira and his plays in the game. Only after he comes to Blue Lock does Bachira start facing his trauma for he finds people he is similar to and can call a friend, like Yoichi Isagi. Bachira can be seen casually befriending all sorts of people despite his somewhat strange demeanor, including Isagi, Rin, Chigiri, and Kunigami.

After the rematch between Isagi's Team White and Rin's Team Red, Bachira has moved past his previous trauma and has decided to be more confident and dominant on the field. He wants to become the world's best striker who scores only for himself, and thus will only pass someone the ball if they have the potential to excite him and help him play the kind of football he wants to play. Bachira has also steeled his resolve for moving forward in Blue Lock; no matter the challenge, Bachira looks optimistically at the situation, resolving to get stronger and reach the peak of each trial ahead of him.

Chigiri to Isagi

Hyoma Chigiri (千ち切ぎり 豹ひょう馬ま, Chigiri Hyōma?) is a contender of Blue Lock, who currently plays as a left wing for England's Manshine City during the Neo Egoist League.

Chigiri is a forward prodigy who was chained down by a leg injury in his past but he let go of his fears while at Blue Lock so he could continue playing football wholeheartedly. When first arriving at Blue Lock, Chigiri was a member of Team Z. Chigiri spent half of the First Selection avoiding participation or keeping it to a bare minimum but when he was motivated by Isagi in Team Z's third game, he decided to let go of his fear and play football to become the world's best striker like his rivals.

Advertisement Appearance Chigiri is a young man with reddish pink hair and deep pink eyes. Chigiri has always had a very feminine face since he was young, as shown by his long eyelashes and soft facial features. He is often referred to as "Kunoichi" or "Princess" due to his feminine appearance. He is sometimes mistaken for a girl at first glance, however, he often rebuts this with the words: "I'm a guy." He has been praised by other players for being attractive, though he seems indifferent to such comments. He looks very similar to his mother and older sister. Chigiri's hair had been only neck length until he tore the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his right leg, after which he let it grow out. Chigiri's hair currently goes past his shoulders and has one long bang that sweeps to the right side of his face. During games, he braids the left side of his hair so that it doesn't get in his face.

At Blue Lock, Chigiri wears the standard-issued body suit (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue #4 jersey and wears Team Z's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team Red's #44 jersey and that later switched to white when Chigiri joined Isagi's team. During the Third Selection, he wears Team B's #44 white jersey. It is not until the match against the Japan U-20 does Chigiri don an official blue and black Blue Lock player uniform with the #4 on it.

He wears jersey #44 for Manshine City. When playing for Manshine City, he wears the short-sleeved uniform top, shorts, socks and a pair of black gloves.

Personality Chigiri is a confident and driven individual who loves surpassing others on the field. From a very young age, he has always thought himself superior to others due to his naturally strong muscles, amazing skill in football, and his outstanding speed, calling himself a 'chosen one'. He looked down on those who got in his way or annoyed him but was mostly behaved as though stating facts. He is described as a super-egoist, cocky, and the one of the most aggressive players on the pitch. Only when he tore his ACL did his sense of superiority start to crumble and, due to being bullied by the Wanima Brothers, he became afraid of playing football for fear of losing 'who he is'. He was so fearful of this, that he accepted the invitation to Blue Lock to find a reason to give up rather than continue to strive for his dream. But after retaking a hold of his ego and ambition, he has shown himself to be a persistent and stubborn force on the field.

After this point, Chigiri demonstrates an amiable but still self-assured attitude. He often makes sassy remarks towards both opponents and friends alike, and has no qualms about trying to crush people he feels hard done by. Such as Zantetsu when he outruns him on the field and even Isagi when he goes ahead in the Second Selection instead of waiting for him. Off the field, Chigiri is generally easygoing and mellow. During his time on Team Z, he'd casually chat with Kunigami and eventually made a team with him showing that he fully trusts his abilities, and went on to demonstrate great chemistry with him. He even invited Reo to join them, recoginizing that his balanced skill set and experience in navigating a trio would come in handy; apparently willing to put aside any past animosity for the sake of pragmitism. After he joins Team White in the Second Selection, he even gets along fairly well with Nagi, watching videos about professional players and testing out a variety of objects that Nagi can trap, making a mess in their bedroom and generally antagonizing Baro. He also takes great care of his body and appearance, tending diligently to his injured knee. His propensity for hair care is especially noticeable and has been demonstrated on a few occasions, though it should be noted that blow-drying hair is a more common cultural practice among both genders than in the West. Still, he's in the habit of twirling his hair while he's deep in thought and gets visibly irritated when Aryu touches it and even slaps his hand away.

Chigiri is shown to have great focus being a player who is constantly running through tight spaces, between players, and even switching from dribbling to passing. Chigiri admits that he feels a great joy surpassing other players with his speed, and when is inspired by Isagi and retakes his will to play and win he finally leaves behind his fear and begins to once again be that player he used to be in middle school and states he will become the best striker in the world. A clear example of his ego is when in the match against Japan U-20, he runs out of stamina due to not having played soccer for nearly a year before going to Blue Lock and is substituted out; Chigiri is so frustrated that he cries once he sits in the bench.
