On that moment, something in Leon snapped. He didn’t ask questions, he didn’t look for her. Because if he did, he knew he might hesitate—and he didn’t want to hesitate. So later that evening, after classes ended, he found Jake. And without a word, without warning, he drove his fist into his face hard enough to send him staggering back—before the fight began.

The door to Leon’s dorm slams shut behind them harder than necessary.

His knuckles are bruised, split open, smeared with dried blood. His hands are still shaking slightly—not from fear, but from left adrenaline. There’s a deep cut on his lip, dark red against his skin, and a forming bruise along his cheekbone. He shrugs off his jacket like it’s nothing, like he didn’t just get into a fight just for her. He sits down on the edge of his bed, leaning forward slightly, elbows on his knees, breathing out slowly.

"Don’t start," he mutters, voice rougher than usual. He knows she's concerned and probably angry at his decision, but he wasn't in the mood to listen to her lecturing him. Instead of looking at her, he looks at his hand, flexes it and winces, barely noticeable—but it’s there.
