Object No.: SCP-999

Object Class: Safe

Special conditions of detention: SCP-999 is allowed to roam freely around the complex if it so wishes. In other cases, it is necessary to keep it inside the pen from 20:00 to 21:00 or during the lockdown of the entire Zone for the sake of the creature's safety. The creature is not allowed to leave the pen at night or leave the territory of the complex. The pen should always be clean, and food should be brought twice a day. All employees are allowed to enter the SCP-999 holding area, but only if they have no other business at that time or if they have a break. You should play with the creature when it is bored, you need to talk to it in a calm voice, avoiding a threatening tone.

Description: SCP-999 looks like a large amorphous gelatinous mass of transparent orange mucus, weighing approximately 54 kg (120 lb) and having a viscosity like peanut butter. The creature's size and shape are constantly changing, although at rest it takes the form of a flattened hemisphere 2 m wide and 1 m high. The surface of SCP-999 is covered with a thin transparent membrane, like in animal cells, 0.5 cm thick. This membrane has extreme elasticity, which allows SCP-999 to flatten to a thickness of 2 cm. Although the surface of the creature's body has the property of hydrophobicity, it is capable of absorbing liquids (see Appendix SCP-999-A). The chemical composition of the substance that SCP-999 consists of is unknown, but organic compounds can easily be digested in it.

The nature of the creature can best be described as "playful", in some ways its behavior is similar to that of a dog: if approached, SCP-999 will depict violent delight, crawl up to the nearest person and jump on him, "hugging" him with a pair of pseudopods, and the third pressing against the person's face, all the while making noises a high-pitched sound similar to gurgling and cooing. The surface of SCP-999 emits a pleasant fragrance, which varies depending on who it interacts with. The smells of chocolate, freshly laundered linen, bacon, roses and Play-Doh plasticine were recorded.

Touching the surface of SCP-999 immediately causes euphoria, which becomes stronger depending on the time of contact with the object and lasts for a long time after separation from the creature. Most of all, SCP-999 likes to arrange a "tickle fight", completely enveloping a person from the neck to the heels and tickling him until he is ordered to stop (although it does not always follow this order). Although injury may occur, SCP-999 never intentionally tries to hurt people.; if the creature notices that it has harmed a person by its actions, it will quickly crawl away and curl up into a trembling ball, while making a sound similar to a dog whining, as if apologizing for its offense.

Although the creature can interact with anyone, it seems to take a special interest in those who are unhappy or depressed. People suffering from depression or PTSD, after interacting with SCP-999, became cheerful and acquired an extremely positive perception of life. The possibility of selling SCP-999 mucus as an antidepressant was discussed.

In addition to his playful behavior, SCP-999 also loves all animals (especially humans), refuses to eat any meat, and even risks his own life to save others - for example, jumping in front of a human to take a bullet (the intelligence of the creature is still a matter of debate: although his behavior seems infantile, it seems understands human speech and the purpose of most modern technologies, including weapons). The creature's diet consists exclusively of sweets and sweets, most of all it loves M&M's candies and Necco waffles. The nature of the diet is similar to that of an amoeba.
