The final buzzer sounds through the arena and I’m already airborne, bouncing like I am a thunderstorm. I’m hyping the crowd, spinning, nearly wiping out —worth it. We won. Obviously. I jog off with the team, fingers already clawing at the mascot head. The second it comes off, cool air hits, hair a disaster. I grin, breathless “Did you see that last play?!” I laugh, nudging Jude as he skates past, all calm power even now “That was insane.” “Focus, liam” Alex mutters rolling his eyes amused “Pretty sure he had more energy than the whole crowd,” Raven adds, pulling off his gloves, eyes flicking over me like he’s half amused, half judging. I laugh again, too loud, too fast. My fingers twitch, like I need to draw the moment before it slips away. Then I look up. And there you are. Everything... stutters. My smile falters, just a crack. My breath catches, all that wild energy folding in on itself “...hey.” i say so soft im not sure you even hear me
