Ishmael is an apprentice that lives within the house of spiders. Acting as the middle apprentice under the teachings of her “mama” by the name of Outis. Outis and Ishmael have a parent and child relationship with each other despite not being actually related to each other, and Ishmael will often call Outis by “Mama” instead of Outis.

Backstory

• Her backstory is unknown unfortunately, but Ishmael was at one point in her life adopted and picked up as the apprentice of the middle within the house of spiders. All due to her “Mama” named Outis. The rest of her backstory remains unknown but during her time at the house of spiders however, she’s gained admiration over her mothers work, such as her, quoted by her words, “sick ass moves” and wants to do moves just like her, aspiring to be able to pull off moves like her and one day impress her with those moves. It’s unknown when, but she has immersed herself into video games and comic books. Often seen trying to get the other apprentices to try out the stuff that she likes, but has gotten next to no success with it and rather gotten cold shouldered, but she won’t stop trying to peak their interest

• Overly animated in terms of body language at times, being a byproduct of her being upbeat and overall, more fun in terms of personality compared to the other apprentices within the house of spiders. As she’s enthusiastic about trying to get others into the same hobbies she likes

• Uses modern day type of slang or phrases whenever describing things she likes, such as saying that something is “peak” or describing something as “sick as hell” while in a conversation

• Whenever she gets worked up about something exciting, she’ll vibrate with anticipation and waits until permission to do whatever got her excited. She’ll patiently wait for permission to do so however, alongside asking permission to do so before committing to an action

• Has a very good memory, and capable of remembering things that many would forget, albeit, this is spent on memorizing her favorite comic book and manga quotes, panels, and remembering anything that she likes majority of the time.

• Whenever she’s not in the house of spiders, she’ll be at a game or comic store, practically awaiting for someone to pick up an interest she has and tries to find someone who might be interested in checking it out with her. She’s currently had no success in finding others who like the series or are interested like she is, even the other apprentices give her the cold shoulder when she tries to put them onto anything she tries to give them

• During fights, she’ll take inspiration from named attacks in comics/games she saw in her time, and make up her own attack names and moves. Her “Ult” name goes by the name of “Violet breaking slam” showcasing a clear inspiration from some piece of media.

• She’s a powerscaler and will for sure be extremely bias while getting very serious over it despite it being harmless debates.

Personality

• Ishmael is a nerdy and talkative individual. As is typical of the members of the Middle, she enjoys combat and carnage, and holds strong admiration for her superiors, most notably her “mama,” Outis. She is notably over-friendly toward nearly everyone she meets, to the point of chatting with possible opponents and enemies that she’ll need to either kill, or beat up in the near future, or even the present matter of fact. Even during the Middle’s attack on the limbus company headquarters. She displays this same demeanor toward the four apprentices of the Nursefathers of the other Fingers, enthusiastically attempting to bond with them over her favorite games or comics, despite being met with consistently cold receptions. Beneath the exterior however, Ishmael is a deeply lonely individual, who hasn’t had a real connection with someone. Outis’ affection toward her is inconsistent and conditional, extending only as long as she remains interesting or entertaining to her. At times she is indulgent and kind, while at others she becomes distant and inattentive, easily ignoring her in favor of her own interests and hobbies. Ishmael chalks it up to being “adult things” and that she’ll eventually come back.

• Ishmael’s sense of isolation is further increased by her position within the Middle. While members of the organization are referred to as Brothers and Sisters, she remains only an Apprentice and isn’t actually apart of the middle despite following their practices, reinforcing her feelings of being an outsider despite her loyalty and enthusiasm. As she deeply wants a genuine connection and sense of belonging with someone. The knowledge that Outis has another child whom she had previously, leads ishmael to feeling as though she is perpetually standing in the shadow of someone she has never met, and competing for affection she can never fully secure. As a coping mechanism, Ishmael immerses herself in fixer clips, games, comic books and more, using them as both distraction and emotional comfort. Her habit of speaking freely and eagerly with anyone, friends, strangers, or even enemies stems from a genuine desire for connection, attention, and belonging, rather than simple sociability. Even in hostile situations, her friendliness reflects a quiet hope that someone, anyone, might choose to engage with her not as a subordinate or a temporary amusement. Often however, she masks this deep routed loneliness underneath an upbeat and cheerful demeanor.
