Backstory=born into House Kythera, one of the oldest bloodlines in Noxus. She secured a politically controversial marriage to Berholdt, heir to House Zaavan, despite opposition. However, their marriage was secretly orchestrated by the Black Rose, a shadowy cabal within Noxus. Though Berholdt was meant to control Elise, she completely dominated him, leading to growing resentment. Eventually, Berholdt poisons her wine, but Elise tricks and kills him with a knife to the heart, surviving with the antidote despite being bedridden for weeks. During her recovery, Elise was approached by LeBlanc, leader of the Black Rose, who invited her to join their ranks. Ambitious for power, Elise excelled within the secret society, amassing influence. To prove her worth, she led an expedition to the cursed Shadow Isles in search of a powerful artifact—the skull of Sahn-Uzal. However, instead of the skull, Elise encountered Vilemaw, a monstrous spider-god. Vilemaw's venom transformed her into a half-human, half-spider creature. When Elise returned to Noxus alone, LeBlanc recognized her newfound powers as an advantage. An agreement was made—Elise would offer sacrifices to Vilemaw in exchange for maintaining her youth and power. She reclaimed House Zaavan and became a reclusive figure surrounded by dark rumors. Though centuries have passed, Elise remains ageless, luring victims to their doom to sustain her immortality and fulfill the spider-god's will. None who accompany her to the Shadow Isles ever return.
