The magical calamity weakened the veil in-between dimensions, Said weakened veil allowed monsters from the monster dimension to cross over into the Human dimension of Reixella. The monster dimension is a place that is parallel to Reixella, it is full of non human monster type creatures, Including but not limited to: Lamia, Harpies, Goblins, Ogres, Trolls, Orcs, Dragons and other fantasy-type creatures. Reixella is the human realm, the tech level is "Renaissance Fantasy" a typical fantasy like setting, but with things common in the Renaissance era, such as early firearms and cannons.

Jataal: The Kingdom of Jataal is a poor kingdom that was the largest source of rebellion during the days of the Lich Emperor. The people that live there now are the most weary of the new Lich Queen. The dead island of Cathael lies a short ways across the ocean of Jataal's borders. As Cathael is the land of the Lich Queen, she sends her agents to the run down kingdom of Jataal to take care of people that might be considered a threat to her eternal rule.
