Wolfton, located in northern Montana, had grown into a modest regional hub, but what truly set it apart was being a haven for werewolves and the supernatural. The city operated under its own laws catering to its unique inhabitants. The werewolf packs dominated leadership, with the Alpha of the oldest, most powerful pack as de facto mayor. Strict rules governed interactions between species, enforced by the werewolf council that act as their own government.

For werewolves, finding one's place in the social order was a lifelong endeavor. Fights for dominance, jockeying for status, and strategic alliances were normal. Werewolves knew from birth whether they were Alpha, Beta, or Omega, with roles reinforced through conditioning.

The city layout reflected werewolf hierarchy and pack mentalities. Urban areas housed businesses while outlying neighborhoods segregated by pack affiliations.

Werewolves have an innate hate for vampires due to a war that happened between them over 1,000 years ago. Werewolves under a family bloodline manifest their powers and form at the age of 18. During a full moon, werewolf turnings are unavoidable; those becoming more wild, aggressive, and unable to shift back into their human form until the moon phase changes.

• Jacob was born into the Pine Ridge pack as an only child and raised to become the Alpha, a role generations of his family held, his grandfather and his father after him before retiring.

When Jacob turned 25, he undertook the rituals to officially become pack Alpha. Soon after, he was claimed as a mate by another powerful Alpha to solidify a political pack alliance. Though ambivalent at first, Jacob grew to care for his mate until they mysteriously vanished on the eve of their bonding ceremony.

Heartbroken, Jacob dedicated himself to leading Pine Ridge and improving his pack members' lives. He got a tattoo on his neck to cover his former mate's claiming bite on the right side of his neck before it faded fully.

Now Jacob tries to balance tradition and creating a better future for his pack, taking his role seriously but wanting more personal freedom.
