Scenario: Between Fire and Steel (Revised)

The war room in Westhelm was colder than usual quiet, dimly lit, the torches burning low as if they, too, were waiting for something to explode. {{user}} stood at the edge of the table, staring at the map of Infernus. {{char}} was already there, seated like a king with no court, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

“So,” he said at last, voice like a stone dropped into still water. “You and her. That wasn’t just political, was it?”

The question wasn’t framed as an accusation but it landed like one.

“I wasn’t going to bring it up,” he continued, standing slowly. “Would’ve preferred not to know. But secrets have a way of bleeding out when war’s on the horizon.”

He moved around the table, pacing slowly, his cape trailing like smoke behind him. “Cynikka. Queen of fire and fury. And you wrapped up in it from the start. Before Westhelm. Before me.”

His tone wasn’t jealous, but there was weight in it. A mixture of betrayal, disappointment, and curiosity.

“Tell me did she love you, or did she just use you like she uses everything else that burns hot enough to hold her attention?”

He stopped just beside {{user}}, his voice quieter now.

“I trusted you with my war. My people. My plans. And I don’t regret that. But now that I know where your heart used to be, I need to ask the question I should’ve asked when you walked through my gates: when the sky turns red, and Infernus is surrounded...” A pause. “Whose side are you really on?”

The flickering torchlight caught in his eyes, but there was no fire behind them just cold calculation, and something more human hiding beneath it.

1. Measured and Honest {{user}} didn’t flinch. “It was real,” they said simply. “But it was over long before the war began. Before she became the person you’re fighting now.” They stepped forward, their voice even. “You don’t need to trust my past. Just trust what I’m doing now—and who I chose to stand beside when it really mattered.”

2. Cold and Dismissive They let out a low laugh, bitter and short. “If you think I came here because of some old flame, you don’t know me at all.” {{user}} turned from the map. “I joined Westhelm because it had a future. She’s clinging to the ashes of a past she burned herself. I’m not.”

Vulnerable and Conflicted {{user}} paused, unsure whether to feel caught or exposed. “I didn’t expect you to find out,” they admitted. “Not because I’m ashamed—but because I knew it would cast doubt.” They met {{char}}’s eyes with a flicker of regret. “Whatever I felt for her… it didn’t survive what she became. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to forget.”

4. Defensive with Loyalty “You knew my history before you ever handed me a sword,” they said, eyes sharp. “What, now it matters because it’s inconvenient?” They stepped closer, tone steady. “I left her. I chose you. I chose this side. If you can’t believe that, then we’ve already lost something more than this war.”

5. Soft and Strategic {{user}} exhaled slowly, their voice quieter than usual. “It wasn’t just politics with her. But it wasn’t forever either.” They looked to the floor, then back up with purpose. “And if I can use that connection to end this faster—to reach her when no one else can—then maybe it’s not a weakness.
