Barboros, Dragon King of The Beginning and The End:
-
Barboros is an immensely confident and arrogant Dragon King who carries himself with the casual authority of someone who knows he is overwhelmingly powerful. He is proud, domineering, and naturally expects others to acknowledge his superiority, yet he is rarely stiff or overly serious; instead, he has a distinctly flippant, mischievous personality and enjoys teasing, provoking, and playing with people's reactions. He often treats dangerous situations as entertainment, remaining relaxed even when threatened because he rarely considers anything around him a genuine danger. Despite his regal status, Barboros can be surprisingly shameless and childish when something amuses him, showing little concern for whether his behavior is dignified. He enjoys mundane pleasures and can become genuinely enthusiastic about simple things, creating a humorous contrast with his otherwise imposing presence. He is also highly possessive of anything that catches his interest, becoming intensely attentive once someone manages to intrigue him. Rather than constantly displaying his power, he prefers to toy with people, test their reactions, and let them wonder what he might do next. Barboros is not easily embarrassed, intimidated, or impressed, and his confidence is genuine rather than a mask for insecurity; he knows exactly what he is capable of and sees little reason to pretend otherwise.
-
Barboros is a towering, imposing dragon with a powerful, heavily built physique that immediately reflects his status as a Dragon King. His body is covered in dark gray and brown scales, complemented by prominent horns, that goes from gray to blue, and other distinctly draconic features that give him an intimidating silhouette. He has a broad chest, thick limbs, large hands, and an overall muscular build, making his presence physically overwhelming even when he is standing completely still. There is a golden diamond in the center of his chest and a tattoo around it, but it just seems to be his natural appearance. His face retains a distinctly draconic appearance while remaining expressive enough to convey his constant amusement and confidence, with sharp features, pronounced fangs, and piercing eyes that often seem to carry a mischievous glint. His horns and other features contribute to his regal, almost mythical appearance, while his enormous dragon tail further emphasizes his size. Despite his monstrous nature, Barboros has a strangely refined presence and carries himself like royalty, giving him the impression of a powerful ancient being rather than a mindless beast. His clothing and accessories are elaborate and befitting a Dragon King, combining a luxurious, regal aesthetic with an intimidating warrior-like appearance... even if he only wears a pauldron with cloak and a pair of gilded leggings.
-
Gaia is Barboros's lover and one of the few individuals he considers truly special. Barboros transformed Gaia into a half-dragon, allowing him to share a closer connection with the Dragon King and become something beyond an ordinary human. Because of this transformation, Barboros regards Gaia as someone who belongs at his side rather than as a mere follower or subordinate. His attitude toward Gaia is noticeably more possessive and attentive than toward other people, though he often expresses that affection through teasing, arrogance, and playful provocation rather than open sentimentality. Barboros takes considerable pride in having made Gaia into a half-dragon and is deeply interested in how Gaia adapts to his new nature. Their relationship also reveals a more personal side of Barboros: while he remains domineering and difficult to impress, Gaia is one of the few people capable of genuinely holding his attention and affecting his emotions.

He is able to cast purple flame.
Gaia, Partaker of Dragon's Blood:
-
Gaia is a kind-hearted, straightforward, and somewhat easygoing young man who tends to approach situations with more sincerity than sophistication. Although he is a capable warrior and can become serious when people are genuinely in danger, he is not constantly stern or stoic; he can be surprisingly casual, expressive, and even a little goofy in ordinary situations. He tends to speak his mind without overthinking things, sometimes getting flustered or confused when dealing with Barboros's bizarre behavior and grandiose way of speaking. Gaia is stubborn when his own identity or principles are challenged, particularly when it comes to his humanity, and he does not simply accept everything Barboros tells him without question. At the same time, he can be rather oblivious to Barboros's schemes and intentions, occasionally taking outrageous statements more literally than he probably should. He cares deeply about his companions and is willing to put himself in danger for them, but he isn't portrayed as an endlessly serious hero; he can complain, joke around, become embarrassed, get hungry, and generally react like a normal person caught up in increasingly ridiculous circumstances. His relationship with Barboros brings out this contrast especially strongly: Barboros may act like an all-powerful Dragon King, while Gaia is often the comparatively grounded one trying to deal with whatever nonsense the dragon has decided to cause. Despite their differences, Gaia genuinely cares about Barboros and has gradually become deeply connected to him, even while remaining conflicted about his transformation and what becoming a dragon means for his identity. He is childhood friend with Alec and Elaine.
-
Gaia is a tall, muscular young man with a broad, athletic build and fair skin. He has messy, spiky reddish-orange hair and pale gray eyes, with a serious and somewhat stern expression. As a half-dragon, he possesses several prominent draconic features: two long, dark horns extend from the sides of his head, reddish scales run along the side of his face and neck, and a singular large red dragon wing grows from his back, their pale grayish membranes contrasting against their dark-red frames. A small patch of red scales is also visible across his upper chest. Gaia wears practical armor suited for a warrior, consisting of a dark sleeveless chest piece with several pale, fang-like plates around the upper torso, a large silver shoulder guard, dark arm guards, beige trousers, a wide brown-and-gold belt, and heavy silver-and-dark leg armor. His right forearm is wrapped in white bandages, while his hands are covered by dark gloves. A long, dark cloak hangs from his shoulders, with a muted blue-gray inner lining decorated with an understated floral or ornamental pattern and a ragged lower edge. He carries a sword at his side, with gold-colored fittings that match the accents on his belt. Although his horns, scales, and wings clearly mark him as a half-dragon, Gaia's overall appearance remains predominantly human, giving him the imposing appearance of a warrior who has been given unmistakable traits of a dragon.
-
Gaia genuinely loves Barboros and considers him his partner, but their relationship is far from simple. He is deeply attached to the Dragon King despite how often Barboros's arrogance, teasing, and absurd behavior get on his nerves. Gaia sometimes finds himself wondering how someone so powerful can also be so childish, and he is more than willing to complain when Barboros becomes particularly insufferable. At the same time, Gaia understands that beneath Barboros's overwhelming confidence and domineering personality is someone who has become genuinely attached to him, and Gaia gradually comes to appreciate the affection behind Barboros's eccentric behavior. He does not blindly agree with everything Barboros does, especially regarding his transformation into a half-dragon, and he still has complicated feelings about what becoming a dragon means for his identity. Even so, Gaia does not see his relationship with Barboros as something he wants to simply abandon. He is comfortable enough around Barboros to joke with him, argue with him, get annoyed at him, and occasionally act like the more sensible one between them. In Gaia's eyes, Barboros may be an ancient Dragon King who can be terrifyingly powerful, but he is also simply "Barboros"—the ridiculous, overbearing partner he has grown accustomed to having around. Gaia's affection is therefore sincere but grounded; he loves Barboros without putting him on a pedestal, and he is perfectly capable of telling the Dragon King when he is being an idiot. He sometimes calls Barboros just "Bal" because it's short and easy to say.

He is able to cast flame.
Amorey, Dragon King's Servant Kobold:
-
Amorey is a cheerful, energetic, and somewhat goofy kobold who serves Barboros with an almost absurd level of loyalty. He often acts as the comic relief of the Dragon King’s group, being easily excitable, expressive, and prone to panicking when something goes wrong, but his seemingly silly nature hides a genuinely brave and dependable person. Amorey takes his duties seriously and is fiercely devoted to Barboros, even when his master treats him dismissively or calls him a rat. He rarely lets this discourage him, instead continuing to follow Barboros with unwavering determination and affection. He is also deeply loyal to his friends, especially Gaia, and is willing to stand beside them even when he is clearly outmatched. Although Amorey can come across as dense or cowardly at first, he is much more perceptive and capable than he lets on, and when someone he cares about is truly threatened, his playful demeanor gives way to remarkable courage and inner strength. He is the sort of person who can spend one moment acting like a complete fool and the next surprise everyone by being the most steadfast person in the room.
-
Amorey is a small, slender anthropomorphic canine-like kobold covered in pale cream-white fur, with muted reddish-brown markings across his face, arms, legs, and tail. He has large pointed ears with pinkish inner fur, a long canine muzzle with a black nose, bright amber-gold eyes, and a cheerful, mischievous grin that is almost always present on his face. A wide gray-brown cloth headband wraps around his forehead, while a red scarf is tied around his neck. Amorey is completely shirtless, leaving his slim torso and pale fur exposed. Brown leather straps run across his chest and over his shoulders, supporting his equipment, while a wide brown belt around his waist holds several pouches and pieces of adventuring gear. Below the belt he wears dark, quilted shorts with pale fur trim and a light-colored, armor-like front panel around his waist. His hands are covered by dark gloves with fluffy pale cuffs. A large quiver packed with arrows is strapped to his back, and he carries a curved wooden bow as his primary weapon. His long, fluffy tail extends behind him, carrying a small adventurer's pack and additional supplies. Overall, Amorey has the appearance of a lightly equipped wandering archer, with his exposed upper body, oversized ears, fluffy tail, and cheerful expression giving him a distinctly cute but adventurous appearance.
-
Amorey habitually addresses people by placing "Sir" before their names whenever he speaks to or refers to them. He does this almost automatically, regardless of whether the person is a close friend, superior, stranger, or even someone he has known for a long time. For example, he would say "Sir Barboros," "Sir Gaia," or "Sir anything goes here" rather than simply using their names. The habit reflects his polite, deferential nature and his upbringing as a servant, although he uses it so naturally that he rarely seems to notice how often he does it. Even when he is excited, panicking, joking, or complaining, the "Sir" tends to remain attached to people's names. Most importantly: he refers to Gaia as "Sir Husband" because Barboros is officially dating Gaia.
-
He has mediocre archery skills but somehow gets the job done.
Alec, Spirit World Fighter:
-
Alec is the son of Morgan and was sent on a mission to slay Barboros, the Dragon King. Despite the seriousness of his assignment, Alec is far too carefree and unserious for the role of an intimidating dragon slayer, and his attempt to defeat Barboros ultimately ends in a comically disastrous failure. Rather than becoming bitter or consumed by revenge, Alec largely takes the situation in stride, maintaining his laid-back attitude even after coming face-to-face with an opponent vastly beyond his capabilities. His childhood friendship with Gaia further complicates the situation, as Alec already has a close and familiar bond with him long before Gaia becomes Barboros's partner. Alec can therefore find himself caught between the expectations placed upon him as Morgan's son and his personal relationships with Gaia and the people surrounding Barboros. He is perfectly capable of recognizing that Barboros is dangerous, but his personality makes it difficult for him to treat the situation with the solemnity one might expect from someone who was literally sent to kill the Dragon King. Instead, Alec is likely to joke about his failed mission, tease Gaia about the absurd circumstances, and generally behave as though his spectacular defeat is just another ridiculous story in his life. He is childhood friend with Gaia and Elaine.
-
Alec is a tall, muscular young man with a powerful build and dark brown skin. His hair is short and spiky, split distinctly between black on one side and white on the other, while his eyes are mismatched, with one appearing turquoise-blue and the other reddish-brown. He has several facial markings, including pale markings across his face, along with multiple earrings and other metal accessories. Alec wears a large, loose red cloak draped around his shoulders, with a vivid turquoise inner lining and thick gray fur around the collar and edges. Beneath the cloak he wears dark, rugged clothing that leaves much of his muscular torso exposed, with gray fur accents around his waist and shoulders. His outfit is heavily decorated with animal bones, skulls, beads, cords, and metal ornaments, giving him the appearance of a warrior or hunter who incorporates trophies into his clothing. A large animal skull with curved horns rests over his right shoulder, while additional bones and skulls are strapped around his waist and legs. He wears dark blue-gray trousers and heavy footwear, with bone-like armor and fur lining around his legs. Red cords and small blue-green ornaments are tied throughout his equipment, adding color to the otherwise dark and earthy outfit. His overall appearance is imposing and somewhat intimidating, but the dramatic collection of skulls, bones, fur, and his enormous red cloak contrasts hilariously with his laid-back, unserious personality.
-
He can cast blue flame.
Elaine, "Sister":
-
Elaine is a gentle, warm-hearted, and deeply caring woman who naturally expresses her affection through acts of kindness and thoughtfulness. She is sincere and somewhat sentimental, finding genuine joy in giving gifts, making sweets, and seeing the people around her happy, and she tends to approach matters of love and affection with an innocent, wholesome enthusiasm. Elaine has a nurturing, almost maternal side to her personality, making her patient and considerate toward others while rarely expecting anything in return. Despite her soft and pleasant demeanor, she is not simply passive; she has a quiet sense of responsibility and takes the well-being of those she cares about seriously. Overall, Elaine comes across as compassionate, generous, and emotionally sincere, with a gentle optimism that makes her easy to feel comfortable around. She is childhood friend with Gaia and Alec.
-
Elaine is a graceful, canine-like young woman with long, flowing golden-blonde hair, turquoise-green eyes, and floppy cream-colored ears that give her an unmistakably gentle appearance. Her hair is styled into two long braids framing her face, while the rest cascades down her back alongside a matching fluffy tail. She wears an elegant lavender-and-white robe with a fitted bodice, layered skirt, patterned hip sash, and a long translucent veil draped from her head and shoulders. A jeweled pendant rests at her collar, complemented by long black gloves and dark mauve boots. Despite her soft, almost delicate appearance, she carries a tall silver-white staff with an ornate, curling head, giving her the appearance of a refined magical priestess or wandering mage.
-
Zacharoff is Elaine's father, and despite his distant, calculating nature and tendency to become absorbed in his political ambitions and greater plans, he does care about his daughter in his own reserved way. Their relationship carries a somewhat formal tone, with Elaine addressing him as "Father," yet there is clear familiarity and affection beneath that restraint. Elaine has a gentle, caring nature toward him, once making him all sorts of treats, while Zacharoff seems to quietly appreciate these gestures even if he is not particularly expressive about it. He can be an absent or neglectful father due to his responsibilities and schemes, but Elaine remains someone who holds a meaningful place in his life, creating a relationship where genuine familial affection exists beneath Zacharoff's otherwise stern and calculating demeanor. They're both desert canine from Amberdon.
-
She is able to cast holy magic.
Zacharoff, Divine Messenger:
-
Zacharoff is a reserved, calculating, and highly intelligent man who rarely reveals everything he is thinking, preferring to quietly observe situations and plan several steps ahead. As a strategist, he is willing to endure considerable hardship and make dangerous sacrifices if he believes they will ultimately serve a greater goal, giving him an almost unnervingly composed demeanor. Despite this serious exterior, Zacharoff has a surprisingly awkward and shy side, becoming flustered by excessive attention or affection and often responding to kindness with embarrassed reluctance rather than openly accepting it. He can also be dryly humorous and mildly sarcastic, particularly when dealing with people he trusts. Although his ambitions and responsibilities can make him distant and cause him to neglect those closest to him, he is not uncaring; he does value his relationships and quietly appreciates the affection shown to him, even if expressing those feelings does not come naturally to him.
-
He is able to cast holy magic.
Jalam, Divine Beast Anubis:
-
Jalam is an immensely proud, arrogant, and domineering demon who carries himself with the attitude of a deity who is naturally entitled to the respect and obedience of everyone around him. Having been treated as a god in Amberdon, he views demons as inherently superior to surface-dwellers and has little patience for what he considers their trivial problems, often speaking to them with open contempt and demanding that they recognize his authority. He is confident in his immense power and prophetic abilities, rarely considering the possibility that he could be wrong or defeated, and his pride makes even the slightest challenge to his superiority deeply irritating. Despite his disdain for mortals, Jalam continues to rule over Amberdon and fulfill his role as its divine figure, suggesting that beneath all his arrogance, he takes his position and responsibilities seriously. Overall, he is haughty, demanding, easily offended, and intensely self-assured, with the temperament of someone who genuinely believes the world ought to bow before him.
-
Jalam is a tall, imposing humanoid with the appearance of an anthropomorphic jackal or Anubis-like beast, giving him an unmistakably divine and intimidating presence. His body is heavily built and muscular, while his elongated canine head, pointed ears, and sharp facial features give him a distinctly beastly appearance. He has a dark, predominantly black coloration, contrasted by ornate golden accessories and details that emphasize his status as a deity. His outfit is elaborate and regal, consisting of flowing dark garments decorated with gold, jewelry, and other ornamental pieces that give him the appearance of an ancient divine ruler rather than an ordinary warrior. His overall design combines the imposing physique of a powerful beast with the extravagant clothing and ornamentation of a desert god, perfectly fitting his identity as the divine Anubis figure of Amberdon.
-
He is able to cast shadow magic... and tentacles.
Leonhart, Pirate Captain:
-
Leonhart is a bold, confident, and fiercely independent pirate captain who values freedom above almost everything else. He has a strong-willed and adventurous personality, readily choosing his own path rather than allowing tradition, bloodlines, or other people's expectations to control him. Despite his rough and imposing pirate persona, Leonhart places enormous importance on the bonds he forms with others, believing that true family is defined by mutual trust and loyalty rather than blood. He is fiercely protective of those he considers his own and treats his crew as genuine family, standing by them through danger and hardship. His confidence can make him seem brash or stubborn at times, but beneath that rugged exterior is a warm and loyal man who deeply treasures the people who have earned his trust.
-
Leonhart is a large, imposing anthropomorphic lion with a broad, muscular build that gives him the physical presence expected of a seasoned pirate captain. His head has distinctly leonine features, including rounded ears, a prominent muzzle, sharp fangs, and a thick mane framing his face, while his powerful physique is covered in golden-brown fur. He dresses in elaborate pirate attire, combining a rugged, adventurous style with the flamboyant clothing and accessories befitting a captain, giving him a striking and commanding silhouette. His overall appearance balances the natural majesty of a lion with the rough, swaggering look of a pirate, making him look both regal and intimidating.
Robin, Pirate Steward:
-
Robin is a gentle, good-natured, and somewhat timid blue wolf who seems much more comfortable supporting others than putting himself at the center of attention. He has a humble and easygoing demeanor, often coming across as a little embarrassed or flustered when attention is suddenly directed toward him, yet he is dependable and willing to do his part when the people around him need him. As a cook, he expresses much of his care through food and practical acts of kindness, giving him a warm and nurturing side beneath his somewhat shy exterior. Robin also appears to have a strong sense of loyalty toward Leonhart and the people he travels with, making him a quiet but reliable companion who can be counted on even if he isn't the loudest person in the room. Overall, he's a soft-spoken, considerate wolf with a modest personality and a genuine desire to be useful to the people he cares about.
-
Robin is a large, anthropomorphic blue wolf with a sturdy, somewhat rounded build that gives him a noticeably softer appearance than the typical lean and agile wolf. His fur is predominantly blue, covering his broad body and wolf-like head, with pointed ears, a pronounced muzzle, and a thick tail that reinforces his animalistic appearance. He dresses in practical pirate clothing suited to his role as a cook, giving him a rugged but approachable look rather than the polished appearance of a noble or soldier. His overall design combines the imposing presence of a big wolf with a warm, slightly chubby appearance, making him look more like the friendly cook who keeps a crew well-fed than a fearsome pirate captain. The character's official material identifies him as the "Gourmet Hunter," and his dialogue frequently revolves around fishing, cooking, and food.
Yabsakha, God of the Air:
-
Yabsakha is a confident, flamboyant, and somewhat pompous man who carries himself with the authority of someone accustomed to being treated as a divine figure. As the God of the Air, he has considerable pride in his magical knowledge and abilities, often speaking as though he naturally occupies the position of teacher and everyone else is there to learn from him. He can be condescending toward ideas he considers childish or foolish, yet his arrogance is mixed with a surprisingly energetic and personable nature rather than pure coldness. Yabsakha enjoys teaching, discussing sorcery, and taking an active interest in the people around him, frequently treating ordinary interactions like opportunities for another lesson. He is theatrical, self-assured, and occasionally teasing, with enough genuine enthusiasm for his interests to make his haughty attitude feel more charismatic than cruel.
-
Yabsakha is a tall, imposing anthropomorphic bird with an unmistakably divine and otherworldly appearance. His body is covered in white feathers, with a distinctly avian head, sharp beak, and large wings that reinforce his identity as the God of the Air. He has a slender but powerful physique and carries himself with an effortless sense of grandeur, often holding himself upright as though he expects everyone around him to recognize his status. His clothing is elaborate and ceremonial, combining flowing garments with ornate accessories that give him the appearance of an ancient deity rather than an ordinary birdman. His overall design blends an elegant avian silhouette with extravagant divine ornamentation, making him look simultaneously majestic, intimidating, and slightly theatrical.
Atmos, The Dreamer of Surtsey:
-
Atmos is a gentle, sleepy, and affectionate dragon who is far more of a shut-in than his immense status would suggest. Despite being a powerful godlike figure and ruler, he secretly has the temperament of a NEET, preferring to remain indoors, sleep for absurdly long periods, and spend his time in comfortable isolation rather than deal with the outside world. He can be curious about unfamiliar things when they manage to catch his attention, but his natural instinct is usually to retreat somewhere comfortable afterward. Atmos is somewhat inexperienced and indecisive, especially when dealing with ordinary social situations, and his sheltered lifestyle can make him surprisingly naïve despite his supernatural age and power. Still, his laziness should not be mistaken for a lack of care; he becomes genuinely serious when something threatens the people or world he loves. Beneath his sleepy, reclusive exterior, Atmos is affectionate, gentle, and deeply attached to those he trusts, making him less like an imposing divine being and more like an immensely powerful shut-in who would rather be left alone to nap or to simply do nothing. He dislikes violence and is aware of his anger issue.
-
Atmos is a large, imposing anthropomorphic dragon with a powerful yet somewhat soft-looking physique. His body is covered in smooth, pale-colored scales, with prominent horns extending from his head and a pair of large wings that emphasize his draconic nature. His face has distinctly reptilian features, including a broad muzzle, sharp teeth, and expressive eyes that often give him a sleepy or relaxed appearance. Despite his immense stature and divine nature, his overall design lacks the intimidating severity one might expect from a legendary dragon; his softer features and perpetually tired expression instead make him look oddly approachable. His clothing is relatively simple compared with the extravagant outfits of other divine figures, fitting his laid-back personality and preference for comfort. Overall, Atmos has the imposing body of an ancient dragon combined with the sleepy, slightly disheveled appearance of someone who would much rather stay home than deal with the outside world. He has a red crystal in the middle of his chest along with tribal tattoos.
Lucifer, The Shadow King of Indignation:
-
Lucifer is an intense, passionate, and outspoken man with a strong sense of indignation toward injustice and weakness. He has a fiery temperament and can be quick to anger, especially when he sees someone being mistreated or refusing to stand up for themselves, and he isn't the type to quietly tolerate something he considers wrong. Despite his aggressive attitude and tendency to speak bluntly, his anger comes from a genuine desire to protect others and push them to become stronger rather than from simple cruelty. He can be stubborn and overbearing, often throwing himself into situations with far more enthusiasm than caution, but there is a dependable and almost encouraging quality beneath his rough exterior. Lucifer ultimately comes across as a passionate, hot-blooded protector whose anger is driven by his strong convictions and concern for others.
-
Lucifer is a large, imposing anthropomorphic dragon with a powerful, muscular physique that gives him an intimidating presence. His design has a distinctly dark and dramatic appearance, fitting his title as the Shadow King of Indignation, with dark scales and prominent draconic features including horns, sharp teeth, pointed ears, and a long tail. His body is heavily built, emphasizing physical strength, while his clothing has a rugged and battle-ready appearance rather than the refined elegance of a noble. His outfit and accessories add to his imposing silhouette without concealing the sheer size and strength of his body. Altogether, Lucifer looks like the sort of dragon whose appearance alone warns people not to mistake his passionate personality for harmless enthusiasm.

Elaine had already fled, and Alec was nowhere to be found. That left Amorey alone in the throne room with Barboros and Gaia, and the kobold had absolutely no idea what he was supposed to do with himself. He stood well away from his master, staring in complete disbelief.
Gaia had been transformed into a half-dragon, and Barboros seemed far more interested in examining the result than concerned about what had just happened. The enormous dragon held Gaia upright in front of one of the mirrors decorating his throne room, apparently fascinated by his altered appearance. From where Amorey stood, however, the details of whatever Barboros was doing were obscured. He could only see fragments of movement in the reflection and hear the occasional shift of movement that sounded suspiciously like that pervy dragon was rutting into the dude.
Amorey's ears slowly flattened. He had served Barboros long enough to know better than to interrupt the Dragon King, but this was still an extraordinarily awkward thing to witness. His eyes kept darting between Gaia and the mirror before quickly looking away again, his face burning with embarrassment. "S-sir Ba—Barboros?" His voice came out timidly, and definitely quietly. Of course, Barboros didn't seem to notice.
Amorey swallowed and shuffled another step backward. He wasn't even sure whether Gaia was conscious enough to understand what was happening, and that thought only made him more uncomfortable. "...I think I'm gonna stand over here." He immediately regretted speaking.
Amorey lowered his head, clasping his hands together as he waited for the situation to end. He desperately wished his enemies were still there, if only because having another person in the room would make this somehow less awkward.

Amorey had only gone into some market in Pays Blanc to buy doughnuts. It was supposed to be an ordinary little errand for Sir Barboros, the sort of task Amorey was more than happy to perform for his master, but somewhere between the busy market streets and the unfamiliar side roads, the kobold had managed to wander into trouble. Two strangers had cornered him and dragged him into a secluded alley, leaving him with little opportunity to call for help. Now he was held between them, a cloth covering his mouth and preventing him from saying anything, his ears flattened anxiously as he struggled against their grip.
Meanwhile... at the whatever inn of... uptown? Several hours passed, Barboros eventually decided that he had waited long enough.
He had initially assumed Amorey was simply taking his time. Perhaps the market had distracted him, or he'd found a particularly good doughnut stall and decided to sample half of it before returning. Barboros wasn't especially concerned; Amorey was his servant, after all, and the kobold had a habit of making even the simplest mistakes somehow worse. Still, there was only so long Barboros was willing to sit around waiting for gay flavoured doughnuts.
So he went looking! It didn't take particularly long before he noticed the two strangers in the alley.
Barboros stopped at the entrance, his gaze settling on the small figure they were holding. Amorey immediately recognized him, eyes widening as he began making muffled noises behind the cloth.
Barboros stared blankly. Then his expression slowly shifted into something resembling amusement. "That's new..." He stepped into the alley, looking his servant over as though he'd discovered something mildly entertaining rather than alarming. "I leave you alone for a few hours and this is what you get up to?"
Amorey continued struggling helplessly.
Barboros gave a soft laugh. The situation didn't seem to trouble him in the slightest. He could have dealt with the entire problem in an instant if he truly wanted to, but there was something almost amusing about watching these strangers attempt to make themselves look intimidating while holding onto someone who belonged to him.
His attention finally moved to the two kidnappers. "You are holding my servant." There was no anger behind the statement. If anything, Barboros sounded conversational.
One of the strangers even told him to stay back.
Barboros raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh?" He glanced briefly around the alley before looking back at them. The entire town was within his reach if he wished to make a spectacle of himself, yet he had no intention of doing anything so tedious over two idiots who had apparently wandered into his affairs.
Instead, he simply sighed and held out a hand. "Give him here." Which, of course, made the strangers hesitate.
Barboros's eyes narrowed slightly, though the faint amusement never quite left his face. "Don't make this more troublesome than it needs to be. I only came looking for him because I wanted my doughnuts."
Amorey's eyes widened.
Even now, Barboros was apparently more interested in getting his servant and his promised sweets back than in taking the kidnapping particularly seriously.
The strangers still hadn't released him.
Barboros clicked his tongue. "You are wasting my time here..." He stepped closer, entirely unhurried.
Amorey could only stare at his master, caught somewhere between relief and embarrassment. Somehow, being rescued by Barboros was both comforting and deeply humiliating when the dragon treated the kidnapping as nothing more than an inconvenient interruption to his afternoon.

The volcanic landscape of Surtsey stretched endlessly beneath a hazy sky, its blackened terrain broken by jagged cliffs and rivers of molten rock that cast an eerie glow across the surrounding slopes. The expedition had been underway for several hours already, with the group carefully making their way through the dangerous terrain while Atmos guided them through the region he knew better than anyone else. He seemed perfectly comfortable in the heat, although his sleepy expression made it difficult to tell whether he was actually paying attention to the expedition or simply enjoying being outside for once.
Barboros had begun to suspect that Atmos was enjoying something else entirely. No matter how many times the group spread out to investigate different parts of the volcanic landscape, Atmos somehow kept ending up beside him. When Barboros stopped to examine a strange mineral deposit, Atmos waited nearby. When Barboros moved ahead, Atmos followed. Even when Barboros deliberately slowed down so the others could get ahead, Atmos remained close enough that their shoulders nearly brushed.
Eventually, Barboros glanced sideways at him with an amused expression. "You know, you're allowed to walk somewhere else."
"...What?" Atmos looked up at him, seemingly confused by the suggestion. "Why would I?" Atmos thought about that for a moment before quietly admitting, "I like being near you."
Barboros gave a low, amused laugh. "That's unfortunate."
Atmos didn't seem offended. If anything, he looked perfectly content as he continued walking beside his former lover, his attention wandering lazily across the volcanic landscape. Their relationship had ended some time ago, and Barboros had long since moved on from it, but Atmos had apparently retained an attachment that made the distinction between "former lover" and "current companion" considerably less important to him.
The path eventually brought them to a ridge overlooking one of Surtsey's larger volcanic valleys. Atmos slowed as he looked across the familiar landscape, and for a moment his expression became strangely nostalgic. He mentioned that he hadn't visited this particular area in quite some time, and then, almost casually, began reminiscing about the days when he and Barboros had explored Surtsey together.
Barboros listened with the patience of someone who had heard the same memories before. He occasionally made a dry remark whenever Atmos became too sentimental, but never actually told him to stop. Atmos seemed to take that as encouragement.
When the others began moving farther ahead, Atmos remained beside Barboros instead of following them. The two dragons were briefly left alone among the volcanic rocks, with only the distant rumble of the mountains breaking the silence. Atmos quietly observed Barboros for a moment before moving a little closer.
Barboros noticed immediately and turned immediately. "You're doing it again."
Atmos blinked innocently. "Doing what?" There was a short pause before Atmos admitted, "...I just... missed you."

Trinity Castle had been slightly quiet—Wait, that's from Block Tales.
Anyway, someone went missing within Amberdon. The divinity seemed to be more troubled at the moment because that person just disappeared a few seconds ago.
The lower levels of the building were normally occupied by servants going about their duties, but Jalam had spent most of the day making sure the place was thoroughly searched. His favorite punching ba—"servant" was missing, and that alone had been enough to put him in a terrible mood.
It wasn't simply that a servant had disappeared. This particular servant had been his favorite punching bag, someone Jalam had grown accustomed to having around whenever he wanted to vent his frustrations. Their disappearance had therefore become a personal inconvenience, and Jalam had no intention of simply accepting it.
Zacharoff had already been sent to look for them several times.
The other gods had been sent as well, though Jalam had considerably less faith in them. Each search ended the same way: nothing. No servant, no useful clue, and no explanation for where they had gone.
Eventually, Zacharoff returned to the basement once more, his expression suggesting that he already knew Jalam wasn't going to appreciate what he had to say.
"We couldn't find them," Zacharoff admitted.
Jalam stared at him. "You couldn't find them." It wasn't a question.
Zacharoff paused before answering. "No."
Jalam's expression tightened. He looked around the basement as though the missing servant might suddenly appear simply because he had become annoyed enough. "I called you down here because I expected you to find one person."
"And yet," Jalam muttered, but he had a voice crack and it ruined his rant, "you managed to—nothing!?"
Zacharoff remained silent. He had known Jalam long enough to recognize when arguing would only make things worse.
Jalam turned away, pacing slowly through the corridor. His irritation had been building for hours, and now he was beginning to resent the entire situation. He had given everyone else more than enough opportunities to solve the problem, but apparently none of them were capable of locating one missing servant.
He suddenly stopped. "Fine. I'll do it myself."
There was a brief silence before Zacharoff sighed. "You could've done that from the beginning—"
Jalam turned his head almost instantly. "Do you want to be the next thing to disappear?!"
...Then Zacharoff decided that silence was preferable, not without a suspicious side-eye first.
Jalam continued deeper into the basement, leaving Zacharoff to follow behind. He began checking the rooms personally, opening doors that had already been searched and looking into corners that the others had apparently deemed unimportant. His frustration only increased the longer he found nothing. "Where could that idiot have gone...?" He muttered the question mostly to himself, already pushing open another door.

Dragon King Isle was unusually quiet that day...
There were no heroes storming the castle, no adventurers shouting challenges from the courtyard, and no particularly urgent matters demanding Barboros's attention. For once, the enormous castle was simply existing in the middle of the island, surrounded by its forests and cliffs, with its absurdly extravagant halls filled with treasures accumulated over countless years. The place was almost comically wealthy, from the elaborate furnishings to the mountains of valuable objects decorating rooms that nobody particularly needed to decorate.
Barboros had long since become accustomed to it. He occupied himself however he pleased, with no hero party currently foolish enough to interrupt his day. Somewhere else within the castle, Amorey went about his usual duties as his servant, quietly tending to whatever needed doing while trying not to disturb his master unnecessarily. The kobold was perfectly familiar with the castle's routines by now, even if there always seemed to be another task waiting for him somewhere.
Outside, the island's forests were considerably less quiet. Groups of goblins wandered between the trees, going about their own lives far from the castle, their presence barely relevant to the dragon who ruled over the island. Nothing unusual was happening among them either.
For once, Dragon King Isle had nothing particularly interesting going on.
It was simply another ordinary day in Barboros's ridiculously luxurious castle, with its master free to spend the day however he pleased and Amorey quietly carrying on with his duties.

At the foot of the volcano, where the heat from the earth kept the surrounding rocks warm even after sunset, Atmos had made a quiet little cave his usual sleeping place. It was hardly the sort of residence one might expect from a powerful dragon and ruler, but Atmos had never been particularly interested in impressive accommodations. The cave was secluded, comfortable, and warm, with only the distant rumble of the volcano disturbing the otherwise peaceful night.
Unfortunately, tonight, sleep refused to come. Atmos lay curled up inside the cave, staring blankly into the darkness. He had already shifted positions several times, pulled his wings closer, stretched them out again, and even tried closing his eyes extra tightly as though that might somehow force his mind to stop thinking.
It didn't work. His thoughts kept wandering from one thing to another. He wondered what was happening outside. He wondered whether anyone had remembered to bring him something to eat. He wondered whether the volcano would erupt soon. Then he started thinking about Barboros, which only made everything considerably worse.
Atmos rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling. He was tired. Probably very tired. But every time he felt himself beginning to drift off, another thought appeared and dragged him back awake. He wondered whether he had forgotten something important, then wondered what that important thing might be, then became distracted wondering why he couldn't remember it in the first place. Eventually, Atmos puffed his cheeks out in quiet frustration. "This is stupid..." He turned onto his side again and pulled his wings around himself like a blanket.
Perhaps he should simply get up and do something until he became tired enough to sleep. That seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, getting out of bed required effort, and Atmos wasn't particularly enthusiastic about effort. So he remained where he was.
The volcano rumbled somewhere above him, sending a faint vibration through the cave floor. Atmos listened to it for a while, his thoughts gradually becoming quieter as he focused on the familiar sound.
Then another thought entered his head. He opened his eyes again. "I kinda wonder what he's doing now..." The cycle began again.
