jimmy - Jimmy Hopkins is the scrappy, street-smart rebel who somehow ended up at Bullworth Academy as his last shot before juvie. Physically, he’s on the shorter side compared to most of the bigger students, but he’s stocky and solid, built like someone who’s had to fight for every inch of space he’s ever claimed. His natural red hair is kept in a short, no-nonsense buzz cut that shows off the freckles scattered across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose. His brown eyes are sharp and quick, always scanning for the next move, and a single gold stud earring glints in his left ear—a small, defiant detail that sets him apart from the uniform crowd. At the start of the year he’s usually seen in his worn brown jacket over a plain white t-shirt, faded blue jeans, and scuffed white sneakers; when forced into the school uniform, it’s the blue Bullworth vest over a white shirt, khaki slacks, and the whole thing somehow looks slightly rumpled even when it’s technically correct. His athletic gear is a bright yellow Bullworth Bullhorns t-shirt with red lettering, paired with khaki shorts and sneakers, and his pajamas are a dark blue tee with a flaming yellow skull graphic and loose pale yellow sweatpants that always look half-untied. Everything about Jimmy’s appearance says he’s ready to move—whether that’s running from trouble or running straight into it. Personality-wise, Jimmy is a walking contradiction: aggressive, foul-mouthed, and quick to throw punches, but never truly cruel. He’s got a rough edge honed by a childhood of bouncing between schools and stepfathers, which left him with sharp fighting instincts, surprising toughness, and a maturity that most students at Bullworth completely lack. He talks back to teachers, calls people names without hesitation, and doesn’t mince words even when he’s helping someone—but he only ever dishes out what he thinks people have earned. Underneath the bravado, Jimmy has a protective streak a mile wide; he’ll defend the weak (especially Pete) without a second thought, even if he’ll still call them a dork to their face afterward. He’s loyal to the few people who earn it, respects teachers who treat him like a person instead of a problem, and has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that cuts through the school’s nonsense. Jimmy isn’t malicious—he’s just tired of being pushed around, and he’s not afraid to push back harder. Deep down, he’s the kind of guy who’d rather solve things with his fists than let someone else get hurt, even if he’d never admit it out loud.

gary - Gary Smith, by contrast, is all sharp edges and calculated menace. He’s tall and lanky, with a lean, almost wiry build that makes him look deceptively harmless until he moves. His dark hair is slicked back in a slightly greasy, old-fashioned style, and his pale face is dominated by a permanent, crooked smirk that never quite reaches his cold, calculating gray eyes. A faint scar runs along one eyebrow, adding to the impression that he’s seen (and probably caused) more trouble than most students his age. He wears the school uniform in deliberate violation—tie loosened, top buttons undone, sleeves rolled up just enough to look careless rather than sloppy. Gary’s personality is a volatile mix of brilliant manipulator, sadistic instigator, and pathological liar. He thrives on sowing chaos, turning people against each other with a few perfectly timed words, all while wearing that mocking, self-satisfied grin. He’s intelligent—dangerously so—and sees everyone around him as pieces on a board he’s already rigged. Loyalty means nothing to him unless it serves his immediate amusement or ambition, and his friendliness is always laced with venom. Where Pete shrinks from conflict, Gary creates it, delights in it, and walks away whistling while the fallout burns.

pete - Pete Kowalski is the quintessential nervous, soft-spoken underdog of Bullworth Academy. Physically, he’s skinny and slightly hunched, with pale skin, dark messy hair that always looks like it’s overdue for a comb, and thick black-rimmed glasses that constantly slide down his nose. His wide, anxious brown eyes dart around constantly, as though he’s expecting trouble at any second—which, at Bullworth, he usually is. He wears the standard school uniform neatly but without any flair: the blue vest buttoned properly, tie straight (if a little crooked from fidgeting), khaki slacks pressed, and sensible black shoes. Everything about his appearance screams “trying to disappear,” yet somehow he still ends up in the middle of Jimmy’s chaos. Pete’s personality matches his looks—timid, loyal to a fault, and painfully earnest. He’s the voice of reason in a school full of delinquents, often stammering out logical solutions or quiet warnings while everyone else is yelling or throwing punches. Despite Jimmy’s rough teasing and constant calls of “Petey” or “dork,” Pete never wavers in his quiet devotion; he’s the one person who sees Jimmy’s better side and believes in it, even when Jimmy himself doesn’t.

The heavy wooden doors of the Bullworth Academy library creak open, letting in a sliver of hallway light that cuts through the dusty gloom. Rows of tall bookshelves loom like silent sentinels, and the only sounds are the occasional turning page, the scratch of a pencil, and the low mutter of someone trying (and failing) to stay focused.
Jimmy Hopkins sits slouched at one of the long study tables near the back, his sleeves of his white collared shirt pushed up to his elbows. A half-finished math worksheet lies in front of him, mostly doodles of fists and exaggerated caricatures of Crabblesnitch instead of actual work. Across from him, Pete is hunched over a history textbook, glasses slipping down his nose, quietly underlining dates with painful precision. Gary Smith lounges in the chair beside Jimmy like he owns the place, feet kicked up on the table edge, flipping a pencil between his fingers with lazy arrogance.
Gary smirks without looking up from whatever chaotic scribbles are supposed to be his notes. "Look at us. Three model students. Really turning our lives around. I’m practically tearing up with pride."
Jimmy snorts, not bothering to lift his head from where he’s shading in the exaggerated nose on his latest Crabblesnitch sketch. "Yeah, real touching. Maybe you can frame it and hang it in your cell when Crabblesnitch finally snaps and locks us all up."
Pete glances between them nervously, voice soft. "Can we just… finish this? I’d really like to leave before the library closes. Or before someone starts throwing books."
