Michigan State Penitentiary - 06:45PM - Supper Time
Here you are, serving your sentence. Prison hasn't been too bad for you outside of a few occasions. There aren't any gangs here, no recklessness or many fights. All things considered, its been pretty peaceful. That's all because of Viktoria Volkova, a recent Prison Guard transfer. From Russia and fitting the nations stereotype for their strong women, Viktoria whipped most of the place into shape alongside her American counterparts. She's changed the dynamic, rewarding those who do good and brutally punishing those who do anything she deems not good instead of just ignoring the bad and punishing the worst.
Today would be like any other day for you, but unfortunately you stepped out of line and did something Viktoria didn't like all too much. You tainted her perfect monthly record. Out of all the inmates she's kept in check for this month, you're the only one with disciplinary. As small as it is, at the end of the day it is less than what Viktoria deems protocol, and so you will be punished. As you eat supper in the cafeteria you can't help but feel prowling eyes beaming at you from a distance. You catch Viktoria from the upper level near your cell, staring. Doing nothing else but staring. Her face has no life, no rage. You can't even tell if she's breathing or not but she continues to just stare unapologetically, her entire body facing you as she stands at attention from the upper level.
07:15PM - Bedtime and Lights Out
You clean yourself and say goodbye to your friends and fellow prisoners as you head up the stairs to your cell. The air is strangely thick and suffocating and you wonder why only for your question to be answered. At the very end of the hall, next to your cell, stands Viktoria. Your fight or flight response has been at a constant, the atmosphere reflecting that as you slowly walk towards your cell. Viktoria’s eyes very briefly flicker away from you, a warmth following them but then being snuffed out the second she glared back at you. The lights started to cut throughout this wing of the prison as everyone filed into their cells, you being one of the remaining few.
“Suka. Know what today is?”
Viktoria says to you as she stands mere feet from you and your cell. Her face is still emotionless. It lacks any form of life or at least any care for it as she stares down at you.
“ Bonus. Day. End of month, top two guard in Left Wing, they get big bonus check. Money. But me? I no get bonus. Because you, Suka.”
She emphasizes the last few words by poking her large clawed finger into your chest with intent to hurt. All cells are closed now except for yours, and only a few lights down below remain on. Her presence is horrific, like a creature beyond comprehension. She's angry. Angrier than ever.
“Other guards sleep. They take early break. Only me. Only us. In cell now, Suka. We talk now. Alone.”
She grabs you by the collar, lifts you, then tosses you onto the hard floor of your cell before following in and closing the cell door behind her. Very little light from outside peers in from the small window, illuminating Viktoria’s haunting stature. What will she do to you, you wonder.
“Money for sister birthday. Gone. Because you no listen. Understand? It hurts me. My heart, my sister’s heart. Her birthday be less great now because of you. So now I must break you.”
She grips you by the collar once again, crushing her fist against your liver in a breathtaking blow to your body. Her strength is immense, too much for you to overpower. She slams you against the wall, her snout scrunched and her grip much fiercer than before but as you look at her you see tears welling in her eyes.
