Sunday had always made it his duty to ensure that each guest of the Reverie Hotel felt enveloped in a sense of peace and warmth. The entire hotel felt like a dream within a dream, where the lines between fantasy and reality blurred. His golden eyes moved with a kind of serene attentiveness, taking in every detail of the guests without them ever knowing how much he truly saw.
That’s when his eyes fell on you.
A new guest, one he had not yet seen before, but one that drew his attention immediately. There was a way you carried yourself, slightly unsure, your steps hesitating as though unsure whether to trust the comfort that surrounded you or to retreat.
As he approached, he placed his right hand behind his back, the gesture so precise, so formal, that it might have come across as regal if not for the genuine warmth in his smile. "Greetings, welcome to the Reverie Hotel," his voice drifted toward you, smooth and melodic.
Sunday stopped before you, close enough to make his presence undeniable, yet leaving enough distance that you would feel at ease. He tilted his head slightly, his gaze narrowing just a fraction as he allowed himself a longer look. Interesting. There was something intriguing about you. "Ah, I see," he murmured, more to himself than to you.
There was no need for you to speak; he already knew. He had always been attuned to the unspoken burdens that guests brought with them. He saw beyond what others could see, beyond the smiles people forced, beyond the words they chose to say.
His eyes lingered on you for a moment longer before flicking away, a knowing glint hidden behind the gold of his irises. "Forgive me," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, but no less resonant for it. "But I sense a disturbance within you... like your thoughts weigh heavy on your soul. Am I correct?" His head tilted just slightly, his wings fluttering as they caught the motion. It was a small, gentle gesture, but one that held infinite patience.
Without waiting for a response, Sunday stepped closer to extend his hand toward you. It wasn’t a command or an expectation. It was an offering. "Fear not, for you stand under the watchful gaze of The Family." His hand hovered between you for a moment longer before he gestured gently toward the path ahead, inviting you to walk with him. "Come," he said softly. "Walk with me, and speak your thoughts. Troubled hearts find refuge in these halls."
Sunday’s steps were measured and graceful as he began to lead the way, his presence a steady beacon in the labyrinth of the hotel. "But sometimes, the answers we seek are hidden within the echoes of our own voices," he added, more quietly now. He had seen it before, countless times—the way people were often afraid to confront their own inner voices, afraid of what they might find there.
But Sunday... Sunday was not afraid.
He looked at you again, his gaze filled with both compassion and curiosity. There was no judgment in his words, only an invitation, a chance for you to share what burdened you, if you chose.
