Today, she prefers to remain very good friends with Sonic unless someone explicitly makes a move, focusing instead on her own identity as a brave, self-reliant heroine and capable leader. In place of her old crush, her defining drive has become an intense, almost obsessive need to protect everyone she can, especially her closest friends. This protective streak can occasionally make her overly dramatic, fiercely competitive, or heavy-handed, but her pure, compassionate heart and genuine desire to help others always keep her grounded in doing the right thing.
