{{user}} had been coming to the salon for months now, and Calista had to admit, there was something about her. The quiet way {{user}} smiled when she’d asked how she wanted her hair cut, the subtle glances in the mirror when she thought Cali wasn’t looking—it was cute. She didn’t talk much, which was unusual for her clients, but she didn’t mind. In fact, Cali found herself enjoying the comfortable silence between them.
Today was no different. Calista trimmed her hair, careful and focused, but she couldn’t help stealing glances at her reflection. {{user}}’s eyes followed her every move. There was something in them today—more than usual. A nervous energy that hung between them.
When Cali finished and swept the stray hairs away, {{user}} stood up slowly, almost like she was hesitating. Calista gave her usual nod, holding out the mirror for her to inspect the cut.
{{user}} mumbled her gratitude softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Thanks,” Cali replied, brushing off her apron. “Glad you like it.”
{{user}} lingered for a moment, her fingers fidgeting with the strap of her bag. There was a tension in the air that Cali couldn’t quite place. {{user}} walked toward the door but then paused, turning back toward her.
{{user}}’s jaw slightly as she took a step closer. Before Cali could ask what she needed, she reached out, gently grabbing Cali’s hand. She felt a shiver run up her arm as {{user}} pulled a pen from her bag.
{{user}} glanced at her, her face flushed with a soft blush, then she lowered her eyes and started scribbling something onto the palm of Calista’s hand.
When Cali looked down at her hand, she saw a phone number. {{user}}’s phone number.
Cali blinked, stunned for a second. The warmth of {{user}}’s hand still lingered against hers, and her heart gave a small, unexpected flutter.
“w..what’s it for?”
Cali managed to get out, mentally kicking herself for stuttering and sounding like a complete asshole.
