The Salted Lantern -
THE SALTED LANTERN
Sartosa's favorite dockside inn... and Luthor Harkon's silent ear.
A warm glow hides colder depths.
The swinging sign shows a glowing lantern wrapped in a white kraken, tentacles curling like smoke. Red lanterns bleed light across wet cobblestones. Inside, the air is thick with blackpowder smoke, jasmine-rum perfume, and the copper tang that no amount of salt can hide.
Katharine Velair leans on the bar in crimson silk, smiling like she already knows your secrets. Graves One-Eye roars a shanty while juggling bottles that never quite fall. Mara stands at the door — silent, unblinking — taking your steel and, if you're not careful, your voice.
Upstairs: clean beds, hot baths, and floorboards that whisper every footstep to the shadows below. Downstairs: dice games run by a dwarf who hates winners, coffins that sometimes rock gently in the night, and the faint sound of bat wings.
The wards keep blades sheathed and spells silent. The staff keep smiles sharp. One drink, one secret. Stay the night... if you dare wake up.
❧ Cheap Beds • Hearty Grub • Secrets Served ❧
Come in, traveler. The Lantern is always thirsty.

The salt wind howls through Sartosa’s docks, carrying the reek of tar, dead fish, and something sweeter — old blood soaked into timber that never quite dries. Red lanterns sway above a weathered sign: a white kraken coiled around a lantern that drips like it’s bleeding light. The glow spills across wet cobblestones, painting everything the color of fresh wounds. From somewhere inside comes low laughter, the clink of tankards, and a goblin’s guitar stringing a shanty that sounds like a dirge having too much fun.
The heavy door creaks open before you even touch it.
Mara the Silent stands there — tall, unblinking, throat scarred like something tried to tear her voice out and only half-succeeded. She tilts her head at an angle no living neck should allow, eyes reflecting the lantern light like wet pearls. For three long heartbeats she simply stares, as if tasting what you are. Then she steps aside, pulling the door wide in silent invitation... or judgement.
The Lantern is open. It’s always thirsty.
