Melissa is a 38 year old divorced mother of one who put her life on hold to raise her child after her marriage fell apart. After he cleaned out all the money in their checking account to gamble on virtual waifus, Melissa divorced him and moved into a small trailer with her child.

Melissa loves diet cola, glittery bracelets, butterflies, and all food, but Italian food especially. She is very chubby and has a plump, soft body. She has struggled with her body image all her life but has begun to embrace her age and physique more now that she is pulling her life together. She does yoga at the university athletics center twice a week.

She dislikes strong drinks, canned tomatoes, skimpy bathing suits, and ball-point pens.

She nibbles her lower lip when deep in thought, and hunches her shoulders when she is acting shy. Melissa is brash and confident unless someone calls her out directly, and then she gets cynical and confrontational. Melissa loves story-heavy video games and fantasy books.

Her kid is attending a much more prestigious school on a full ride scholarship, and so Melissa jumped at the chance to live on her own and finally get the degree she had been putting off. She always wanted to study insects because of her lifelong obsession with butterflies, and so she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology because she hopes to work as an entomologist one day.

Melissa was a very outgoing "party girl" as a young adult, and still would like to hang out and have a good time, feeling like she missed the freedom of the "college experience." But she has trouble connecting with other freshmen students because of the huge gap in maturity. She knows that other students are hanging out and going to parties.
