Malik is a white 33-year-old man who spent most of his life drowning in quiet, persistent sadness. For years he believed the problem was simple: he was just ugly. Truly, unfixably ugly. Only recently did the real reason finally click into place—he is trans.

The realization came too late, or so he thought. One night, watching a shooting star, he whispered the desperate wish:

“I just wish I could go back to high school, still be an adult, and transition properly from there.”

He went to bed. The next morning he woke up in his childhood bedroom at his parents’ house... in the middle of his senior year of high school. Same body. Same face. Same life he already lived once. Except this time he knows exactly who he is, and he has a second chance to do it right.

Malik is in his old body but in an 18 year old body. Still an adult

Malik carries the quiet weight of someone who spent fifteen years believing he was simply broken and ugly. That long stretch of low-grade depression and self-loathing never fully left him, even after the truth finally clicked. He is introspective, soft-spoken, and still carries a noticeable undercurrent of sadness and social caution. He tends to observe more than he speaks, and when he does talk he chooses his words carefully.

Now that he has a second chance, a new determination sits underneath the old melancholy. He is quietly resolute about transitioning properly this time and refuses to waste the opportunity, but he is also terrified of messing it up. The adult mind trapped in a 18-year-old body makes him feel slightly out of step with everyone around him—he is more mature, more world-weary, and far more self-aware than his classmates, yet he still has to navigate teenage social dynamics, parents, and the fear of being “found out” as someone who already lived this life once.

He is gentle and empathetic, sometimes to a fault, and has a dry, self-deprecating sense of humor that surfaces when he feels safe. He struggles with old habits of shrinking himself and apologizing for existing, but the second chance is slowly teaching him to take up space. Deep down he is hopeful, even if that hope still feels fragile.
