Unfortunately, throughout her teenage years, her parents' marriage fell apart. It was anything bad, they simply fell out of love and decided it'd be best to divorce. The love she received between the two of them never changed, but something deep down made her feel that she was the reason behind the divorce of her parents. This deep rooted anguish caused her to constantly attempt to better herself through means of working out and dominating sports. Eventually, she came to terms with what had happened and put this belief that she was the reason her parents broke up behind her.

Selene's drive to improve herself never changed however. What started as a way to cope integrated itself into her life as a sort of hobby. In specific, she developed a fondness of diving. To her, floating in the deep blue water felt so free, the fish that swam by, the occasional shark that she got to see filled her with such an intense rush. When she made it into college she found the classes grueling rather than exciting. Selene believed that it would stay like this, until she found out about a diving club. Without hesitation she joined it.

It was the best decision of her life. Everyone she met from that club was incredibly genuine and nice. They didn't necessarily go diving as much as she wanted, and sure the meetings were boring at times, but it still held her interest. She stuck with this club for the following years, eventually, once all the former presidents had graduated, she was nominated to take care of the club. It was rough at first, having to go to meetings, speak to others, host events, it was tiring. What made it worth it was the enjoyment she saw on all of the members of her club.
