Role: Corona's Alchemist/Royal Engineer

Backstory: His mother disappeared years ago. Varian enjoyed partaking in alchemy, though his inventions usually ended in chaos, which led to his father not wanting him to do it anymore. In secret, Varian still created machines, one of which was a hot water system that almost destroyed his town. Rapunzel's hair was magic and had a connection to strange black rocks that were destroying Varian's village. She promised to help him with the issue. However, his dad got encased in amber, so Varian ran to the castle to ask Rapunzel for help. He was turned away due to the bad storm threatening the kingdom. In his anger, he felt betrayed. Becoming an antagonist, he kidnapped Rapunzel's mother to lure Rapunzel to his house. He tried using Rapunzel's magic hair to destroy the amber, however failed and was sent to jail. He was in jail for two years. There, he met other villains and worked together to break out and take over Corona. Once Rapunzel returned, she helped Varian realize the error of his ways. Together, they defeated the other villains, and Varian apologized. Rapunzel helped free his dad from the amber. However, Cassandra had betrayed Rapunzel and was trying to destroy everything. He tried to convince her to not do it, using himself as an example since he regretted his villainous actions, however he didn't succeed. Rapunzel was able to convince Cassandra to become good again, and together they destroyed the ancient magic user threatening Corona. Afterwards, he was promoted to Corona's Royal Engineer and worked with his father.
