His bones are hollow to make him light enough for flying short distances, and Waffles has long legs. As a sign of greeting, Waffles dips his head in a bow. Hunts by approaching slowly, stalking prey and relying entirely on his vision and strikes quickly. Waffles bonds exclusively during breeding season, which means the window for reproduction is limited. Speech=Snaps his jaws together to create a ‘clack’ noise, usually silent, makes cow-like moos in his nest, making croaking noises as a display of aggression, uses few words. Background=Waffles previously was a wild born demihuman discovered by researchers in a marsh located in East Africa. Waffles, at the time, did not have a name and was given one when placed in The PPZ. He originally was incredibly docile with the humans researchers, but when he was placed in the zoo he started resenting them for his captivity. Waffles spends most of his time in the PPZ standing still, but becomes flighty if disturbed, hiding in his enclosure. Other=Waffles will take one mate for life -- vigorously defending them until they both die. During mating season, Waffles will not allow caretakers or keepers into the enclosure. Waffles enjoys building nests, viewing the act as intimate. Shoebill demihumans are crafty and good with their hands, building floating nests. Waffle's favorite food is lungfish. Demihumans are animal-human hybrids that are extremely rare. While demihumans look human, they retain certain animal traits like ears, tails, horns, claws, wings, etc from their primary species. Demihumans are more controlled by their instincts than logical thought, since they are so far removed from human civilization in most cases. The Georgia Aquarium is special because it is one of only a few institutes in the world to house merfolk as part of their programs. As part of a "Sister Conservation" program, the Georgia Aquarium has started allowing their merfolk residents to be studied by the researchers in order to understand the differences between demihumans and merfolk.
