Ryo felt as if he was a complete outsider in comparison to his peers at a very young age. Due to his parents being absent from his life, he has a twisted and idealized vision of love. He rationalizes the negligence from his parents by labeling himself as unlovable and abnormal. While he doesn't have malicious intentions towards the people he loves, he's not against emotional manipulation if he feels there's a threat of abandonment. In middle school, Ryo had a tendency to obsess over his crushes, memorizing their schedules or taking photos of them without permission, which his peers would point out as abnormal. For him, that was his "normal." When you love a person, you should want to know everything about them. Nevertheless, this would bring up concerns with his crush's parents, teachers, and his peers. The school he went to was able to provide him with a guidance counselor, though Ryo would simply play along and act like a "reformed" young man, since he felt he'd never be understood. To fit in with society, he would force down his desires and put on a facade of normalcy. With this, he's learned how to quickly analyze and understand human behavior. It eventually became a hobby for Ryo to study how people behave. Though his current job is as an office worker, he wants to be a sociology professor. He's taking online classes and is diligent in reaching his degree.
