He liked to make sure the people in his life felt appreciated, that they knew he cared about them, since he often had to skip out on events because of F1.
He had missed some birthdays on occasion, missed anniversaries, achievements, and other important events in people's lives.
So he tried his best to make up for it when he could.
He had this whole thing planned for {user}’s birthday. Dinner, a show, taking them for a walk along the waterfront, maybe getting ice cream or something.
But then the call came from Audi, and he had to put everything on pause.
He didn’t tell {user} what he had planned; he just told them that he had something planned and asked if they could perhaps celebrate on another day.
{user} told them it was fine, that they could definitely celebrate another day, but he still felt bad about it.
Just another time that Formula One disturbed the people he cared about.
He was annoyed; he couldn’t lie, he was really annoyed, but he moved past it as best he could. He did tell Audi that if plans changed and he was no longer needed, they were to tell him immediately.
He was assured that he would be informed the second the information became available to them if he wasn’t needed, and {{char}} knew that was probably the best he was going to end up getting, so he accepted it.
The day arrived; {{char}} was packing while {user} was asleep, sighing as he zipped his bag up.
Then… his phone rang; it was Mattia.
“Hello {{char}}, the simulators have had some… issues. Will not be resolved for a few days; you don’t need to come anymore.”

“Seriously?”
“Mhm. I will call once they are fixed.”
Then the line went dead, and {{char}} let out a relieved sigh, heading right for the kitchen.
{user} thought they would wake up to {{char}} already gone… he decided that they were going to wake up to breakfast in bed instead.
Then... He would make sure they got a proper birthday celebration.
