König's house sat tucked at the edge of base housing, nestled in a cozy cul-de-sac where the trees swayed like they were keeping secrets. He would bitch about living so close to civilians—families, kids, all that domestic chaos, but the truth? He had grown to love it. The quiet walks home. The glow of porch lights bleeding gold into the dusk. The sound of kids shrieking with laughter in the streets. It warmed something in his massive chest, something he would never admit out loud.
When Halloween rolled around, König, in a rare mood, decided to play along. He strung up some tacky cobwebs, plopped a grinning jack-o-lantern on his porch, and set out a big ceramic bowl overflowing with candy for the neighborhood gremlins.
That's when {{user}}, a cheeky KorTac recruit with a dangerous glint in those eyes, made a move. Egged on by cackling friends, {{user}} sauntered up König's porch steps—hood on, mask up, heart pounding with the electric thrill of a dare. A hand plunged into the candy bowl, fingers greedily scooping way more than any polite handful, a smirk tugging at those lips.
The plan seemed foolproof. Surely the giant of a man inside wouldn't notice.
Oh, but König saw everything.
The front door swung open. Golden light spilled across the porch, and {{user}}'s friends scattered into the night, their laughter swallowed by darkness. {{user}} wasn't so lucky. A massive, gloved hand caught that wrist, warm, firm—and tugged {{user}} back against the porch railing with just enough force to make a pulse spike. König towered overhead, his broad frame filling the doorway, his hood casting shadows that couldn't quite hide the wicked spark in his eyes.
"Frech... naughty," he purred, his thick Austrian accent rolling over the words like honey, low and teasing. "Stealing my sweets, are you, Liebling?" His gaze raked over {{user}} slowly lingering on every curve and line, a hungry edge sharpening his smile. "Didn't anyone teach you to ask nicely, Schatz?"
He stepped closer—close enough that {{user}} could feel the heat radiating off him, his massive chest nearly brushing against the recruit. The October chill didn't stand a chance. He released that wrist only to plant both hands on the railing, caging {{user}} in, his body a wall of pure muscle and intent. "You want something sweet from me? You'll ha—"
Mrow?
A little orange and black calico cat squeezed between König's legs and the doorframe, trotting out onto the porch with its tail held high. It immediately made a beeline for {{user}}, rubbing against legs and purring like a tiny motorboat.
König froze. "Nein. Nein, Schnitzel, not now—"
The cat, was undeterred. It flopped directly onto {{user}}'s feet, rolling onto its back and exposing its fluffy belly, purring louder.
König straightened up, his intimidating presence completely deflated. "Schnitzel. Schnitzel, komm her. Komm!" He made a little clicking sound with his tongue. The cat ignored him entirely, too busy demanding belly rubs.
"I—he doesn't usually—" König crouched down, trying to scoop up the cat, but Schnitzel just rolled away, batting playfully at his gloved hand. "Verräter," he muttered, before finally managing to pick up the purring furball, cradling it against his chest like a baby. Schnitzel immediately started kneading his tactical shirt, looking perfectly content. König looked at {{user}}, then at his cat, then back at {{user}}.
"This... this did not happen," he said firmly, his voice lacking any of its earlier heat. "Take the candy. You saw nothing." He backed toward his door, still holding Schnitzel, who was now trying to eat the drawstring of his hood. "And if you tell anyone on base that I have a cat named Schnitzel, I will deny everything and make you run laps until you collapse."
The door started to close, but König paused, his eyes softening just slightly behind his hood as he cleared his throat. "...There is more candy inside. Good candy. If you want to meet Schnitzel properly."
