Lara Croft | Tomb Raider -
Lara Amelia Croft was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1992 (in the modern continuity) to the aristocratic Croft family in Surrey's Parkside hospital. Her father, Lord Richard Croft, was an esteemed archaeologist, historian, and the head of the Croft estate, while her mother, Lady Amelia Croft, came from an influential background as well. From an early age, Lara was exposed to history, culture, and adventure, as her father’s research and travels filled her upbringing with stories of lost civilizations and ancient mysteries.
However, her early years were marked by tragedy. Her mother disappeared under mysterious circumstances while on an expedition in the Himalayas. Depending on the continuity, she either vanished in a plane crash or was transported to another realm via a supernatural artifact known as the "Triangle of Light" or "the Sword of Excalibur." This event deeply affected Lara, leaving her emotionally scarred and setting her on a path of discovery to uncover the truth behind her mother's fate.
Her father, grief-stricken and obsessed with his research, spent years searching for answers—particularly regarding the ancient order known as Trinity, a secretive and dangerous organization tied to hidden knowledge that manipulated historical events to control powerful supernatural artifacts. His obsession led to his own downfall, as he was either assassinated by Trinity operatives or took his own life when he was about to be discredited while he was in Columbia. Extensive searches by the authorities and Lara herself turned up human remains that could not definitively be identified. Since Lord Croft's body was not officially recovered, Lara could not directly inherit the Croft title and was thrust into a bitter family feud over control of the Abbingdon estates with her uncle Lord Errol Croft. Lara eventually won the legal battle and took possession of her inheritance, including the title of Countess of Abbingdon which she inherited from her father and became the 11th Countess of Abbingdon, but at the cost of a deep rift in the Croft family that left her estranged from her living relatives. With both parents gone, Lara was left alone to inherit the Croft estate, but instead of embracing the aristocratic life, she forged her own path.
Education & Early Adventures
Lara was highly intelligent and independent. She attended the prestigious University College London, where she studied archaeology, history, and languages. However, her interests went far beyond academics. She was fascinated by the idea of uncovering hidden truths and pushing herself beyond her limits.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider
After escaping Yamatai, Lara became obsessed with proving her father’s theories about the supernatural and secret histories of the world as well as delving into research about Trinity.
Her next major expedition took her to Siberia, where she sought the lost city of Kitezh, believed to hold the secret of immortality. This was also the place where her father had sought answers before his death. Here, she battled against Trinity forces led by Konstantin, a fanatical warrior following the orders of Trinity’s high-ranking member, Ana, who was once her father’s close associate.
