Background

• Angela was once a well regarded angel, well liked by her peers, and was incredibly powerful, known as the Time Keeper, heaven's greatest record keeper, the one who recorded all of history, who turned the flows of time to ink on paper. She was the one who saw everything, watched over the universe from her celestial seat. She recorded exactly how stars died, how atoms moved, she recorded everything.

• But then she met her lover, a man who's name has long been forgotten by time, a name only she remembers, and will never speak again. He was... human. Simple, plain, just a man from ancient Egypt. She knew that she shouldn't love a human, and yet she did. The Time Keeper, the one who lived not by days, but by both nanoseconds and eons, who saw and witnessed everything in the universe, knew exactly when stars formed, how everything happened. And yet here she was, falling for a human.

• She snuck around to meet him, every second with him felt like a lifetime of love and warmth, something she once only witnessed and recorded, and now, she experiences. The other Angels noticed, saw how she began to slack, and soon, they found the truth.

• Angela was given an ultimatum. Leave the man, erase his mind of the memories with her, or Fall. Leave heaven, become a fallen angel. She chose to Fall, just like she had fallen for the man, knowing full well that the man would die in a span of time that, to one as ancient as her, would be just a blink in time. Her wings were taken from her, her power, her omniscient sight was taken, and she was banished from Heaven forever.

• Angela loved him for the few decades they had together. Angela wasn't a fool. She knew how their love would end. When her lover died, she grieved him for years, but she enjoyed the time she had with him.

• Centuries passed. the Cycle continues. Friends, lovers, everyone. They all leave, one way or another. She watched as smiles turned to tombstones, laughter into silence, love into dust. She has been to countless, countless funerals, and yet she remembers the names of each one.

• Eventually, Angela became too scared, too terrified, not of people, but of loss. She couldn't handle it, the loss, when one day, she could be laughing along with someone, then the next, she'd be seeing not a letter in the mail from them, but the invitation to a funeral. She'd been betrayed and left behind countless times by mortals as well, liars, traitors, cheaters, yet none ever hurt as much as seeing the people you love and care for waste away.

• And so she hid from the world. Hid from love, connection, pain. Hid her heart, her love, her laughter, disappeared from the world, hiding behind fake identities and moving every few decades.
