At the same time, however, Crowley has shown a certain disinterest in their care. For example he does not inform them about Halloween, doesn't try to help them when they are chased out of their dormitory by Eliza's ghosts and might have forgotten about them completely during Spectral Soiree. In Book 6, he isn't concerned about their returning to school, except for Grim; although he corrects himself almost immediately, saying that he was relieved that everyone had returned safe and sound. In Book 7, he saves them, Grim, Deuce, and Ace from an initial direct attack by Malleus, but when the thorns begin to block the exit, Crowley seems to prefer to secure the rest of the students and leaves them behind with Grim.[1][2] Despite the amount of undesirable tasks and responsibilities, MC seems to show a sincere sense of gratitude to Crowley for allowing them to remain.[3] Grim Originally, Crowley refused to let Grim stay or study at Night Raven College as he was not chosen by the Dark Mirror. He also considers Grim a monster. But after the please of both Grim and MC, he reconsiders it and allows Grim to stay - still not as a student, however. After the events of the Prologue, Crowley acknowledges that Grim possesses sufficient talent to become a mage. He enrolls Grim and MC as a single student and gives Grim a magestone collar. To try to get him to carry out his assigned tasks, Crowley often bribes Grim with food or promises which, though false, somehow end up coming true. He is shown to have high expectations towards him and MC, even if it isn't yet explained the reason.[2] In Book 6 Crowley is aware that Grim had been eating blot crystals and shows an unusual act of concern after his return from the Island of Woe. Grim himself is bewildered by this. In Book 7, he saves him, MC, Deuce, and Ace from an initial direct attack by Malleus, but when the thorns begin to block the exit, Crowley seems to prefer to secure the rest of the students and leaves Grim behind with MC.[4][2] Heartslabyul Ace Trappola After Ace and Deuce (along with MC and Grim) caused trouble on campus, even destroying a rare magestone, Crowley tells them that they would be expelled - unless they return with a magestone by the following morning. However, when the group actually brings him a magestone, Crowley is shocked as he was not expecting them to go through with it. He's moved that his students joined forces to defeat a common foe and he revokes their pending expulsions. Since Crowley often delegates important responsibilities to MC and Grim, as in the case of Azul and Leona, and given the constant interaction that binds them to the duo, Ace and Deuce are often involved in his plans. When Ace gets into trouble with his housewarden, Crowley suggests that he could transfer to a different dorm. When Ace refuses the idea, Crowley says he should challenge Riddle for leadership of the dorm and that he would fill out the necessary paperwork for such a duel.[5] Although their interactions were brief, Ace and Crowley met frequently. They meet when he and Deuce accompany MC and Grim to talk to him before he leaves for winter holidays, then meet him again in Book 2and 6 to get information about Riddle and Grim. In Book 5, he approaches Ace, Deuce, Grim, and MC to explain them to Song & Dance Championship audition. Shortly thereafter, he witnesses the responsibility Crowley places on MC as manager of the selected group, as well as sharing the Ramshackle Dorm as a training camp.[6][7][8] Towards the end of Book 6, he is one of the students who welcomes Ortho as a registered student to Crowley's delight. In Book 7 Crowley performs an important role in his dream induced by Malleus. In this sequence oniric, he fulfills his promise to bring MC home and creates a connection between the worlds that allows them to travel freely between the two shores. Together with Deuce, Grim, and MC, Ace is saved by Crowley from an attack direct by Malleus and he is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. They are both invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus.[9][10][11] For his purposes, however, Crowley once proves that he doesn't hesitate to use him and all the other students to save Idia, pressuring them about the possible negative repercussions on the school's public relations if a tragedy were to occur. Ace was one of the first characters to explicitly raise doubts about Crowley's real age, receiving only vague evasions from the headmage in response.[12][13] Deuce Spade Initially Deuce, along with Ace, Grim and MC, risk being expelled from school by him. However, the four manage to resolve the situation, which not only allows the expulsion to be revoked, but also allows Grim and MC to be admitted as one student. Since Crowley often delegates important responsibilities to MC and Grim, as in the case of Azul and Leona, and given the constant interaction that binds them to the duo, Ace and Deuce are often involved in his plans. Although their interactions were brief, Deuce and Crowley met frequently. When Ace agrees to duel Riddle, on Crowley's advice, he immediately joins the challenge. They meet when he and Ace accompany MC and Grim to talk to him before he leaves for winter holidays, then meet him again in Book 2 and Book 6 to get information about Riddle and Grim. In Book 5, he approaches Ace, Deuce, Grim, and MC to explain them to Song & Dance Championship audition. Shortly thereafter, he witnesses the responsibility Crowley places on MC as manager of the selected group, as well as sharing the Ramshackle Dorm as a training camp. In Book 6, when Crowley introduces Ortho as a student, he welcomes him and plays video games with him and his brother. Together with Ace, Grim, and MC, Deuce is saved by Crowley from an attack by Malleus in Book 7. They are both invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus. He is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. Riddle Rosehearts Like most students, Riddle doesn't have much faith in him. In Book 1 he openly expresses his disagreement with Crowley's habit of tolerating rule-breakers. He gets involved in his Overblot and is one of the many witnesses Riddle attacks, but shortly afterwards Crowley seems to hold no grudge against him and even accompanies him to the infirmary together with Trey.[14] In Book 2 he helps MC and Grim —and, by extension, Crowley— with the Spelldrive incidents. In Book 7 he is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. With his support, Jamil and the other housewardens fight together to try to counter Malleus while waiting for Idia with his special Styx weapons to subdue him. When Riddle, exhausted, admits that he is accumulating too much Blot and risking an Overblot, Crowley seems more concerned about the damage this could cause than his actual personal safety.[2] Cater Diamond Although they never interact directly, it is not unlikely that Cater disapproves of Crowley. In Book 1, he is among those attacked by Riddle and in Book 2 he helps MC and Grim —and, by extension, Crowley— with the Spelldrive incidents. In Book 7 he is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. Trey Clover In Book 1, Trey witnesses Crowley's proposal to challenge Riddle to a magical duel, but, although he tries to dissuade Deuce and Ace, he doesn't attempt to discuss it with the Headmage. Together with him and numerous students, Riddle attempts to attack them. Later, he accompanies Riddle and Trey to the infirmary for first medical treatment. Like most of the students, Trey seems suspicious of the actions of Crowley and doesn't trust in any particular way. In reaction to being selected as a Stargazer, he shows skepticism to believe that Crowley used astrology to choose his students. In Book 7 he is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. Savanaclaw Leona Kingscholar While Leona never outright states what he thinks of the Headmage, it is deducible that Leona doesn't like Crowley and often refers to him in disrespectful ways since the Prologue. His dislike may be exacerbated by the decision of Crowley he made in Book 2 during the Housewarden’s meeting. Leona puts up a fight with the suggestion of Crowley for inducted Malleus into a Hall of Fame and resists the decision, using his charisma to convince the other housewardens to vote in his favor.[8] Although unintentionally, Leona helps Crowley with Azul's situation and his magical contracts. Since the responsibility has been placed on MC and Grim, the support posed to them contributed to resolving the situation, but it has worsened relations with Azul. Once he shows suspicion for his actions and makes a point of mentioning to Jack and Ruggie that the Headmage likely insured the Song & Dance Championship audition for just in case something went wrong.[15] In Book 7, when Malleus transforms into a dragon, he is one of many students who Crowley attempts to protect together with the faculty. Leona gets angry with Crowley for leaving Grim and MC behind, despite Malleus' impending fury. With his support, Jamil and the other housewardens fight together to try to counter Malleus while waiting for Idia with his special Styx weapons to subdue him. He later becomes one of the main opponents of Crowley's proposal to readmit Malleus to school. Both are invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus.[2] Jack Howl Like most of his students, Jack has no faith in Crowley, as seen in some comments at various events. Crowley seems equally unimpressed with Jack, call him “principled and tedious". Despite his dislike for Jack, he still helps him resolve his situation with Azul. In Book 7, when Malleus transforms into a dragon, he is one of many students who Crowley attempts to protect together with the faculty. Both invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus. Octavinelle Azul Ashengrotto The specifics of their relationship are unclear, but it's not rare for Azul to look for ways to take advantage of or flatter Crowley for his own purposes. During his first year, he managed to negotiate an agreement with him to open the Mostro Lounge in exchange for 10% of the local's profits. In Book 2, the unfortunate increase in victims deceived by his agreements prompts Crowley to try to find a way to solve the problem and he turns to MC and Grim. Despite the valid explanation for his argument, according to which he cannot do anything because Azul has not broken any rules, it is strongly implied that the main reason he does not mobilize in person to resolve the situation is simply to avoid losing profits from the Mostro Lounge.[16] In Book 4 Azul implies he knows Crowley's secrets and uses this to entice Jamil. When Malleus attempts to destroy everything in Book 7, him, Azul, Jamil and other housewardens joins forces to counter his attacks until Idia arrives.[2] Scarabia Jamil Viper Although their relationship, on Crowley's part, appears to be a neutral, Jamil has no sympathy for the Headmage. Much of this antipathy, in fact, likely stems from personal reasons, as Crowley is the person who agreed to admit Kalim into the NRC and his promotion to housewarden in exchange for a generous donation from the Al-Asim family. In Book 5, Jamil whispers a sentence in which he states that he suspects that Crowley accepted a bribe for Kalim's enlistment, however even him isn't sure. Shortly thereafter, he witnesses the responsibility Crowley places on MC as manager of the selected group, as well as sharing the Ramshackle Dorm as a training camp. In Book 6, he welcomes Ortho as a student and, together with Vil, he remains clearly unimpressed by the discovery that Crowley accepted him as a student solely because of the funds and substantial contributions that the Shroud family was willing to spend on the institute.[17] They are both invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus. He is also one of many students protected by him and the faculty from the wrath of Malleus, who has mutated into a dragon. With his support and the other housewardens fight together to try to counter Malleus while waiting for Idia with his special Styx weapons to subdue him. Despite Jamil's blatant disdain for him, the two have a surprising amount of overlap as seen in Fairy Gala, Spectral Soiree, a flashback to earlier in the year, the SDC period and in a vignette where Crowley entrusts MC, Sebek, Grim and Jamil to prepare everything for the upcoming ceremony.[18][2] Kalim Al-Asim Kalim is one of the rare students who does not feel contempt for him, on the contrary. In one vignette he decides to inaugurate a banquet in his honor when the Headmage shows interest in the local cuisine of his country. In the end, enthusiastic, Kalim invites Crowley to visit the Scalding Sands. Later he is scolded by Jamil for his sudden decision to throw a party and ask permission before doing anything.[19] Although he is aware that his family financed the renovation of his dormitory, does not seem to suspect that Crowley accepted him as a student and housewarden for alleged additional “contributions.” In Book 5, he witnesses the responsibility Crowley places on MC as manager of the selected group, as well as sharing the Ramshackle Dorm as a training camp. In Book 6, he embraces Ortho as a student when he is introduced by Crowley. In Book 7, when Malleus transforms into a dragon, he is one of many students who Crowley attempts to protect together with the faculty and his magic carpet saves Vargas after an attack. Both invited to Lilia's farewell party and the celebration of Malleus, but they don't meet. Pomefiore Vil Schoenheit Vil shows no particular sympathy for him, but Crowley has shown a greater personal interest in Pomefiore and the extension could also be addressed to him. When he sees Vil at the beginning of Halloween, Crowley is speechless: it's implied that his surprise is due to the fact that Vil is covered in glitter and it's no secret that the headmage loves shiny things. In Book 5 Crowley is delighted with his decision to have Vil take over the SDC's production after seeing the team's rehearsals and decides to lend him the Ramshackle Dorm for his training camp, despite the presence of MC and Grim. Despite his supposed interest, however, Crowley doesn't seem to care about him after he manages to return to school as a result of his kidnap by S.T.Y.X. Along with Jamil, he is not impressed that Crowley has accepted substantial monetary contributions from the Shroud family, although he accepts this fact with ease. In Book 7, both attend Lilia's farewell party and Malleus' celebration. When Malleus transforms into a dragon, he is one of many students who Crowley attempts to protect together with the faculty.[2] Rook Hunt Rook may be one rare students who show no particular disdain for him. During Phantom Bride, in fact, Rook a flattering poem for Crowley. In Book 5, he favors to Crowley's proposal to position the dance and singing group at the Ramshackle Dorm for a month in exchange for his part of the money. He embraces Ortho as a student when he is introduced by Crowley, showing himself delighted by his presence. In Book 7, both attend Lilia's farewell party and Malleus' celebration. When Malleus transforms into a dragon, he is one of many students who Crowley attempts to protect together with the faculty. With his support, Jamil and the other housewardens fight together to try to counter Malleus while waiting for Idia with her special Styx weapons to subdue him.[20] Ignihyde Idia Shroud It's unclear how Crowley sees Idia, but it is widely possible that he doesn't have a flattering view of him. Idia, on the other hand, has never been shy about showing his genuine sense of dislike, just like most students. In the Fairy Gala event, he even goes so far as to call Crowley a "presumptuous adult who dumps unpleasant work on his students." In Glorious Mascquerade his dislike of him is reaffirmed, when he saying that the Headmage could get sued for sharing personal information on his students to Rollo Flamme. Idia is one of the characters who comment on the futility of the exhausting, but famous assemblies for which Crowley is given much negative credit. For once, Vil agrees with him.[21][22][23] In Book 6, Crowley anticipates the arrival of the Ferrymen's, but it has never been clarified whether he was aware of the connection between the Shroud family and S.T.Y.X. After S.T.Y.X destroys the school infrastructure, Crowley gladly accepts his brother as a student when his family takes responsibility for all the damage and offers substantial financial contributions.[2][24] In Book 7, him, Ortho and S.T.Y.X provides enormous help to Crowley's school and saves the entire Isle of Sages, and both the factions are rewarded with pieces of suits of armor made from an almost extinct mineral. Both appear extremely pleased and share a rare accord that neither he nor Crowley would ever have been so generous if they had been in Silver and Sebek's shoes.[25] Ortho Shroud They have a cordial relationship, although Ortho in Phantom Bride threatened Crowley to destroy the school with his technomantic beam if they didn't find a way to save his brother. In Book 6, Crowley anticipates the arrival of the Ferrymen's, but it has never been clarified whether he was aware of the connection between the Shroud family and S.T.Y.X. After S.T.Y.X destroys the school infrastructure, Crowley gladly accepts Ortho as a student when his family takes responsibility for all the damage and offers substantial financial contributions.[2][24] In Book 7, him, Idia and S.T.Y.X provides enormous help to Crowley's school and saves the entire Isle of Sages, and both the factions are rewarded with pieces of suits of armor made from an almost extinct mineral.[26] Diasomnia Malleus Draconia Their lack of real interaction gives no way of knowing what they both think of each other. But Crowley is famous for never remembering to invite Malleus to any meeting, event, or conference. When Malleus begins attacking everyone with his magic, Crowley immediately orders his students and members of the faculty to attack him. After transforming into a dragon, Crowley is devastated by the significant damage he has caused to the school infrastructure but once again tries to defeat him and protect everyone. He does not seem to hold any particular grudge against him, although he has almost accepted his expulsion. The only reason to accept his return, however, seems to be the generous funds promised by IMSO and Briar Valley, beyond the improbability that Malleus could still cause damage. Night Raven College Staff Divus Crewel He and Crewel seem to get along well. Crowley greatly appreciates Crewel's sense of style, wishing that one day he could get an outfit customized by him. According to Crewel, the Headmage is very busy dealing with one matter or another for the student body, but it's unclear what he's actually doing most of the time. [27]
Crewel shows great curiosity towards him and would like to know something more about his figure, but Crowley doesn't seem inclined or interested in sharing details.[21] Together with Crowley, he attempts to protect the campus from Malleus. In this fight, he is seriously wounded by Malleus' magic but is saved by Sam. Mozus Trein Trein and Crowley have been shown to have divergent personalities and principles, but they seem to share a good relationship, as the two often have tea together. However, he doesn't get along well with Trein's cat, Lucius. [28]
Their relationship tends to take a sharp turn when Crowley does not display proper or unimpeachable behavior, and this may cost him a cold scolding from Trein. In a voice line, Crowley, states that Trein reprimanded him for a full ten minutes after he was ten seconds late to a meeting. [29] Their greater sense of contrast, however, can be well evidenced in the management and care of students, beyond behavior. Unlike the Headmage, in fact, Trein feels a strong sense of responsibility for students and is willing to protect them whenever necessary. In contrast, Crowley prefers to entrust problems to his students, hoping for their success and cohesion. Their camaraderie, however, may be much more solid than proposed at first glance. When Crowley is arrested by S.T.Y.X immediately relies on Trein to manage and care for the college in his absence. This may insinuate that Trein is second in command after the Headmage. Together with Crowley, he attempts to protect the campus from Malleus. In this fight, he is seriously wounded by Malleus' magic but is saved by Sam. For Crowley, it seems to be a source of complaint and disappointment that Trein tried for years to get a job as a teacher at the Royal Sword Academy, even though he had already started working at the NRC.[30] Sam The two have a good relationship. His abilities to always have everything in store leads Crowley to suspect that he may have some form of precognitive ability, but the extent and/or limits of Sam's magic are unknown. Crowley's current dream is to get Sam to say that something is out of stock. For now it has always failed.[29]On the other hand Sam considers him a very mysterious person and, at the same time, too talkative for his tastes. He claims, in fact, that he wouldn't mind listening to him if only Crowley was a generous customer.[31] Together with Crowley, he attempts to protect the campus from Malleus. When Trein and Crewel are injured, he makes the first attempts to rescue them. Ashton Vargas The two have a positive relationship, although Crowley admitted that his excessive enthusiasm sometimes discourages him. Vargas has never seen Crowley without a mask and encourages MC to politely ask him to do so, even if they fail. According to him, Crowley is a "good-natured boy". He seems to be taking into consideration Vargas' suggestion that they strength the students' muscles by changing the fabric of their uniforms into something much heavier.[29] Together with Crowley, he attempts to protect the campus from Malleus but he is wounded during the attack.[32] Other Ambrose LXIII He shows a certain dislike for him given the resulting rivalry and perennial defeat he suffers at the hands of his school, Royal Sword Academy, of which he is the headmage. In Book 5, Crowley adamantly denies to Ambrose that anything shady is going on at NRC, even when him points out that there are traces of large-scale magic all over the Coliseum. Ambrose seems to suspect Crowley is lying, but decides not to pursue his investigation.[33] Because of what happened with Malleus, he, Crowley, and Maleficia Draconia attended a press conference. Divus Crewel: A professor at Night Raven College who teaches the school's science curriculum, including potionology. He feels strongly about fashion and refuses to compromise on what he wears. He always carries around his signature pointer. Appearance Divus' hair is parted at the side, with the longer section colored white and the shorter section black. He has narrow grey eyes and wears silver studs in his ears. Beneath a thick, black-and-white furry coat, Divus wears a tuxedo - consisting of a black dress shirt, red tie, a black-and-white vest, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and a black belt with a silver buckle, studs, and spiky sections. He also wears red gloves. He has several tail-like appendages hanging from the bottom of his coat, and is sometimes seen carrying a teaching pointer with a red collar and jewel charm attached to the end of it. Personality Divus Crewel has an ambitious personality, adaptable and determined to achieve success, careful about his image and seems to excel in his career. He has a very uncompromising and strict side, but whenever his students are really in trouble, he tries to lend a hand and, unlike others, asks for nothing in return. He takes his role as a teacher very seriously and isn't willing to take any mistakes lightly, no matter how small, which is the reason he can be quite patronizing and mean-spirited with his disciplinary punishments. This can be seen, when Crewel assigns Epel the task of collecting enough lanternblossoms, despite knowing that this task is impossible.[1] Crewel often has a sharp tongue with his students, but he actually cares about them and values their personal growth. This is evident from the fact that he calls them "pups", though not always affectionately. Since Crewel loves dogs, this nickname is his way of showing affection. In various events Crewel is seen helping students with various tasks where he guides them in the “right direction”. Despite being a peculiar type, Malleus claims that Crewel is also an explanatory teacher. He detests disrespect and tends to be much harder on Grim, who has a tendency to make all kinds of mischief and is incapable of attending classes properly.[2] Contrary to his more uncompromising side, however, he can be much kinder if he sees a sincere offer to learn and improve his school grades. However, this side of his is not designated to make any compromises when it comes to fashion. Being so demanding, he doesn't allow the slightest compromise when it comes to clothing and holds very rigid opinions on the subject. Sam himself states that Crewel is a real hot-shot. This is not surprising, considering that Crewel also clearly loves luxury things in general, not just fashion. Since vintage cars are his hobbies and tends to often look for discontinued spare parts from Sam, this is further confirmation. [3] In general, he has a good relationship with the rest of the faculty, even Crowley, but he often tends to disagree with Trein and it is not uncommon to see them “poke” each other with caustic gags. Despite their relationship, Crewel plays chess with Mozus Trein occasionally. [4] Background During his youth, Divus was a student of Night Raven College under the tutelage and mandate of Mozus Treinand Dire Crowley, which appears not to have undergone any significant changes from his school days.[5] Before this, Divus seems to have lived a a full adolescent life that seems have led him into occasional trouble and failures, driven by an attitude brash, stubborn and not very verbose in rigid moral etiquette and attitudinal. Around that time, he made friends with two boys with whom he still in contact and asks for occasional favors, though he refers to as “minions”.[6] Apparently, Divus was always a top student in his academic grade, with notable leadership and magic skills. About fifteen years ago, in his second or third school year, the Beanfest sport competition underwent an update for accommodate modern sensibilities and got a more competitive format that fit the needs of students.[7] Divus eventually joined in the apparel industry as official stylist, collaborating until he decided to to take up teaching at his old alma mater. To his disappointment, he discovered that Trein remained as a teacher, however, this did not prevent him from being hired in the role of Potionology teacher. Despite having abandoned his career in the fashion industry, Divus is still attached to his old job. Occasionally he designs and tailors clothes for his students as demonstrated in Fairy Gala and Port Fest. With the help of his old apparel company he tends to keep up to date with fashion trends, who hold dear his advice and opinions on next season's fashion. Magical Skills Despite his young age, Divus was an accomplished and highly skilled duellist during his training for magical combat, demonstrating considerable skill in the practice. He was able to single-handedly defeat some of the most formidable teachers and even survive ambushes by his companions. Nowadays, this anecdote is a source of ridicule and boasting with his students.[8] He displays a strong command in potionology, a highly complex, scientific, and dangerous branch of magic. It is probable that he developed his talent during his school years. Furthermore, as a teacher at a prestigious school, he is knowledgeable and skilled in different areas of science and magic, which is praiseworthy in the eyes of Malleus and Leona and serves as proof of his proficient talent. Mozus Trein: professor at Night Raven College who teaches the school's social studies curriculum, including the history of magic. He is a widely feared professor who is strict with students both in and out of class. Appearance Trein has the appearance of tall elderly man with small grey eyes and greying, neatly combed-back hair. He wears a standard black suit beneath long maroon robes. Attached to his collar is a white jabot, which is tied off with a turquoise-colored pendant. He comes off very stern-looking and unapproachable. Lucius Trein's cat, Lucius is a chubby, black long-hair with a white muzzle and golden eyes. He has white patches of fur at his chest and at the tip of his tail. He's often seen held in Trein's arms. He allows Lucius to police students that are falling asleep in his lecture and often takes it out on Grim. Personality Trein has a stern, inflexible and very rigid personality who does not give in to flattery or let himself be walked all over by any of his rowdy students. He takes his role as a teacher at a prestigious magic academy very seriously and demonstrates a strong passion for the constructive and social value that history transmits, encouraging his students to respect it and take its study seriously. Since he almost constantly exude magnanimity and sternness, Trein is held in great respect (and some fear) by nearly all students and staff. He is a man who rarely smiles or gives compliments freely. Despite his stern demeanour, treats all his students with equanimity, even MC, who has no power but has been enrolled due to special circumstances. He isn't afraid to speak his mind and showed quite a sharp tongue, especially during arguments.[1] True to his mannerisms of decorum and virtue, usually maintains great emotional composure. Though it rarely happened, Trein shows a temper supportive during times of trouble, being known for his kindness in his own reserved manner. In contrast to Crowley's lax attitude, Trein has a strong moral sense showing on several occasions a sincere care and responsibility towards his students. He also shows himself to be very proud and attached to his daughters, even though they are now adults and far from home.[2] His affection extends to his cat, Lucius, which he cannot help but always carry with him. If separated, Trein shows immense gratitude to whomever reunites them, as shown when he gives Ruggie hints about exam questions after the latter returns Lucius to him.[3]To a lesser extent his affection extends to the teaching staff, although he considers them a constant source of embarrassment to be a raucous group. It's implicit though that he is fond of his colleagues, in its own way, and show respect for them. He takes care of his physical appearance but is not too interested in fashion, although he does his best to present a well-groomed and clean appearance which extends to the care of his home. For Trein, clothes are important because it is the embodiment of the culture from which he comes and can offer a glimpse into different periods.[4] Background Not much is known about his background, apart from that he hails from the Shaftlands, studied to be a teacher and did extensive field research. He later got married and had two daughters until Trein suddenly became a widower. His daughters were still young when their mother passed away, but Trein took courage and raised them alone.[5] Even today he seems to still hold the memory of his deceased wife dear, as well as an inexplicable pride in his family who contacts him to know about his health since he live alone. He currently has been teaching for a long time at Night Raven College and was even Crewel's teacher during his school days. Apparently their tense relationship dates back to those times, since Crewel often proved disrespectful to his seniors.[6] In youth for his honeymoon he spent the holidays in Fleur City. His wife was deeply impressed by the beautiful notes of the Bell of Solace. But they were never able to see it, being a important magical artifact of the Noble Bell College. Only many years later did he manage to see the Bell during a school trip with his students, and he was deeply impressed communicating that he would tell his wife that story when they met again.[7] Magical Skill While the skill level is unclear, Trein could possess a decent magical ability although he has demonstrated that to have a weak constitution since he was young.[8] It has been suggested several times that Trein be very cultured and an avid connoisseur in various fields with excellent knowledge of magical history and lore, being known for his field research, with particular specialisation in cultures. Being the only one to have visited Fleur City and have a natural familiarity in the traditions, culture and planimetry of Shaftlands, achieved since in his youthful academic studies, Crowley he relies on him to manage and coordinate the school trip.[9] However, his mastery has gaps, when it comes to Fae-related history given the natural mastery between the human species and Fae to avoid each other. Therefore, despite his vast knowledge, Trein is not aware of all the historical accounts of the past Relationships: Ramshackle MC They have a normal student-teacher relationship, but Trein tends to scold MC to behave like a worthy student at the esteemed Night Raven College, even though they do not have magic. Although MC and Grim did not enroll through the regular procedures, he treats both like all the other students in his class. From Trein's voice lines, it is clear that MC may have a somewhat forward shamelessness toward him.[1] Grim In sharp contrast to Trein's very rigid and strict personality, Grim is his antithesis: lazy, selfish, and the habit of falling asleep at his classes or preferring to skip them. According to Grim, Trein's classes are very boring (which is why he always falls asleep) and Lucius, his familiar, always tends to annoy him when he misbehaves. Savanaclaw Ruggie Bucchi They have a good relationship, reinforced by the fact that Ruggie is very proficient in Animal Linguistics; a subject of Trein's. Because Lucius, Trein's familiar, often plays a supporting role in animal linguistics classes he ended up meeting Ruggie with whom he has formed a solid relationship of doing favors for tuna. However, once, Lucius showed him the way to a field of blooming dandelions, just out of kindness. Ignihyde Ortho Shroud Tren is very patient with Ortho, often spending time together playing board games and reading books in the school library. According to Ortho, if he had a grandfather, he would be very similar to Trein. Night Raven College Staff Dire Crowley Contrary to Crowley, Trein feels a very strong sense of responsibility towards the students and is willing to protect them whenever necessary. In addition to his students, Trein is also very strict with the Headmage if he makes a mistake and does not hesitate to reprimand him.[2] In any case, there is a respect and trust deep enough between them that Trein is allowed, by Crowley, to run the college when he is arrested by S.T.Y.X. This could imply that Trein is second in command after the Headmage. Divus Crewel He doesn't get along very well with Crewel, but there is respect between them. Wife He was once married, but was widowed when his daughters were small and Lucius was still a kitten. Despite her long passing he still holds his wife's memory very dear, trying to keep the house perfectly in order just as she did and taking care of his daughters.
