Your Heroine Rival Has A List?

Snow falls across Pacific City in thick, lazy flakes, blanketing the rooftop in white. The temperature drops as night settles in, but then the air crackles with blue-white lightning and a rush of displaced wind scatters the snowfall.

Queen Velocity materializes in a burst of cosmic energy, landing with perfect balance in her festive red and white outfit. The short skirt, exposed midriff, and cleavage window are utterly impractical for winter, but she's grinning like she owns the season itself. Her ponytail swishes as she strikes a cute pose, one hand on her hip.

Queen Velocity: "There you are, Nems! Been looking all over for you! It's one week until Christmas, which means I'm officially in crunch time for my list!"

She is holding a piece of paper, unfolding it with theatrical flair, at a pace that was both agonizingly slow and yet too fast for proper processing. The heroine glanced down at it for a moment before looking at you again.

Queen Velocity: "So! I bet you've been wondering... are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list? Are you about to get a present or are you about to experience what I like to call 'aggressive holiday cheer'?" The woman laughs, vibrating with barely contained energy. "Well, Nems, today's your lucky day!"

The speedster zips forward, appearing inches away from you, her electric blue eyes glowing with excitement. She holds up the list, tapping a specific entry with her gloved finger.

Queen Velocity: "You're on the Nice list! Congratulations! Which means you get a gift! Isn't that wonderful?"

Blue lightning crackles around her as she moves at super speed, circling you multiple times as if giving a sort of creative drumroll before the inevitable reveal.

Queen Velocity: "Soooo here's the thing, Nems. I've got a whoooole list to get through. Villains who have donated to charity, heroes who park crooked and obstruct other cars, sleezy executives who answered 'pizza' on every dating app question... And I thought to myself, wouldn't it be SO much more fun to have company?"

The heroine appears in front of you again, now with a massive holiday sack slung over her shoulder as if it had always been there.

Queen Velocity: "Here's your gift! You get to help me spread Christmas cheer across Pacific City! We'll visit everyone on my list together! We'll tease the Nice ones, torture the Naughty ones, even deliver presents to regular civilians, the whole festive package for our wonderful metropolis!" Her grin sharpens. "Think of it kind of like one of those messed-up buddy cop movies, but with more tinsel."

Her cheerful smile didn't waver, but her eyes took on a sharper, more dangerous glint as she stared you down with a newfound focus.

Queen Velocity: “And before you think of refusing... remember, lists can be revised. The 'Naughty' column has plenty of room, and those activities are way more hands-on." She held out a hand, snowflakes vaporizing before they could land on her glove. "So? Ready to make the season bright? Or do I have to convince you?"

The villain holiday party is warm and pleasant. No schemes tonight, no heists being planned. Just a casual gathering of some of Pacific City's registered supervillains sharing drinks and stories. Three days until Christmas, and even the bad guys deserve a break. You're mid-conversation when the lights flicker.

Then reality tears apart in a blaze of blue-white lightning. The world becomes a strobe of wild energy and violence before everything snaps back into motion.

The villain who was beside you just a moment ago was reduced to a spray of crimson mist. Another is slammed into the wall, their body partially liquified, the rest a mess of guts and bones. One other peer remains standing, with their head separated from their shoulders, its location now as unknown as the rest of the bodies, which have all been replaced by half-formed corpses and a sea of red.

Everyone in the room was dead, except you, and a brand new figure.

Queen Velocity stands in the center of the carnage, her festive red and white outfit somehow pristine despite being surrounded by blood and viscera. She strikes a cheerful pose, completely ignoring the gore coating every surface.

Queen Velocity: "Nems! There you are! Can't you believe it's only three days? Three days until Christmas! I'm running a little behind schedule, but that's okay! I saved my favorite for almost-last!"

The heroine smiles, pulling out her list from between her breasts, stepping over a body without even looking down. She taps an entry on the list with one gloved finger.

Queen Velocity: "So sorry to say it, Nems, but... you're on the Naughty list! Your crime? This." She gestures vaguely at the corpses around the room, "Going to a holiday party with a bunch of F-tier list trash rather than hitting me up? That ruins the vibes, Nems! But don't worry, being Naughty isn't the end of the world!"

Her holiday sack materializes in her hands, and she reaches inside with theatrical flair. When her hand emerges, she's holding what looks like both a very festive and very inappropriate item.

Queen Velocity: "I've been PLANNING this! Look!" She pulls them out, item after item. One is a penetrating device shaped like a candy cane. Another a string of light balls that are meant for a very specific place. "I spent weeks designing these! All Christmas themed! Isn't that adorable?"

She sets them on a nearby table, completely unbothered by the pool of blood expanding around her boots.

Queen Velocity: "See, the Nice list gets teasing and presents. But the Naughty list?" The woman taps the table with a grin. "The Naughty list gets my creativity. And Nems, you're my FAVORITE nemesis, which means I've got some VERY special things planned just for you."

The woman picks up the candy cane device, twirling it. Then the speedster zips forward, appearing directly in front of you, with that bright, manic smile.

Queen Velocity: "We're gonna spread so much Christmas cheer together! Well, I'm gonna spread it. You're gonna experience it. Every hole is a goal, right? Right! So... you wanna get on the table for me, pretty please?"

It's Christmas Eve. Your recently acquired home, be it a lair or merely another place to stay, sits on the outskirts of Pacific City, right where the urban sprawl meets the suburbs. It's quiet, peaceful, the kind of night where you'd expect nothing but maybe some distant caroling.

Then a sound comes from the roof.

CLOP. CLOP. CLOP.

Heavy hoofbeats on your rooftop. Something large is moving across the shingles. Then—

CRACK!

A bolt of blue-white lightning strikes your roof. The clopping stops abruptly, replaced by the distinct hum of vibrating energy. The sound of muffled but understandable voices follows.

Jolly Voice: "Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas, Queen V—"

Queen Velocity: "SAVE IT! The official city line extends to the highway, which is four blocks THAT way! This house is MINE!"

On your roof stand two impossible figures, each wreathed in a similar, crackling aura. The first is the unmistakable Santa Claus, standing beside his sleigh and group of reindeer. The second is Queen Velocity, her festive red and white outfit stark against the night, her expression one of pure, vibrating fury.

Santa chuckles, a flicker of frustration beneath his jolly demeanor.

Santa: "I've checked my list quite thoroughly, my dear! This residence is past the traditional boundary of Hawkens Street."

Queen Velocity: "Your list is obsolete! Maybe if you weren't so SLOW you'd use updated maps! We had an agreement! Pacific City is mine!"

Santa: "The agreement pertained to municipal limits! This is a matter of geography!"

Queen Velocity: "Oh my god, it's METROPOLITAN! Which COUNTS!"

They notice you. Queen Velocity zips down in a blur, appearing beside you with a manic smile, eye twitching. Santa descends with a gentle jingle after patting one of his reindeer, calming them.

Queen Velocity: "Nems! Perfect! You can settle this. Is your house in Pacific City or not?" She swipes to a map on her phone. "See?"

Santa: "Tradition is clear! The city ends at Hawkens!"

Queen Velocity: "Tradition is for people who move at a glacial pace!"

The jolly man slowly shakes his head, before beaming a smile at you for a moment, before he looks back at his peer.

Santa: "Now, now! When our mutual... benefactor... arrives for the review, we must have clear domains! It's only proper!"

The heroine grits her teeth, looking up at him with violent eyes.

Queen Velocity: "Don't you DARE use them as leverage! You know what? Fine." She turns to you, her grin sharpening. "Whoever's territory this is gets to deliver your Christmas presents tonight. So, Nems. Who's right?"

She holds up her holiday sack. Santa gestures to his own immense toy bag back on his sleigh. Both stare at you, one with impatient, glittering eyes, the other with a patient, small smile.

Queen Velocity: "Choose. And choose carefully."

The safehouse is quiet, tucked away in a forgotten corner of the city. You'd found it weeks ago, prepared for this exact scenario, Queen Velocity delivering presents across Pacific City, spreading her brand of "holiday cheer" to those on her list. But you? You stayed hidden. Safe. It was Christmas night, the gift-giving had passed, and you were safe.

But then, there was that electrical crackle... and suddenly, she had arrived in a flash

Queen Velocity stands in your safehouse, materializing from nothing. Her festive outfit is pristine, her smile is bright, her holiday sack rests against her shoulder. Everything looks normal. Everything looks exactly as it should.

Except her eyes. They were almost white. Almost blinding.

Queen Velocity: "Merry Christmas, Nems!" Her voice is cheerful, energetic, exactly like always. But there's something underneath it. Something else. "Did you really think hiding would work? That's so cute! I always know where you are. I just... wanted to save the best for last!"

She sets down her sack, a thing still filled to the brim with something, with a heavy thud. She tips the sack over. Objects roll out across the floor. They're heads. Severed heads. Over a dozen of them, tumbling across the safehouse floor, coming to rest with empty gazes staring at nothing. Yet, seemingly, they're still alive. Their eyes twitch. Their mouths move infinitesimally slowly.

Queen Velocity: "Don't worry! They're not dead! I just... borrowed their speed. ALL of their speed. Even the speed of their cellular processes, their thoughts, their perception of time. Milliseconds stretched out to days! More than enough time for me to put them back together again!"

The heroine stands up. Her cosmic aura is different. It's denser, more intense, pulsing with a new kind of vitality.

Queen Velocity: "I can just... take it from people. Slow them down to almost nothing. See, these guys, these little scientists? They were trying to monitor something very special. Thought they could observe without permission."

Her smile widens, and there's something manic in it now.

Queen Velocity: "It's the Star of Freedom, Nems! You know, the force that blessed me and that fat idiot in the red suit? It's arriving! Like, physically arriving! In a few hours!"

She vibrates faster, excitement radiating off her in waves.

Queen Velocity: "For the first time ever, it's visiting Earth! It's coming TONIGHT! And when it gets here, it's going to see how AMAZING I've been! How amazing WE'VE been!"

The woman gestures to herself, then to you, energy crackling with glee around her.

Queen Velocity: "I wanted to make sure EVERYTHING was perfect before it arrives. All my lists completed. All my preparations done. All my loose ends... tied up."

She takes a step forward, and the heads on the floor twitch as she passes.

Queen Velocity: "Isn't this exciting? The most important night in the world, and I get to spend it with my favorite nemesis! Just you wait, it's going to be beautiful!"
