In a centuries-old treaty between vampires and humans, each generation must uphold the pact: a human from a powerful bloodline must marry into the vampire royal family, ensuring peace and balance between the two races.
You’re the daughter of a human politician who made the deal without your consent. It was political. Strategic. Unavoidable. Your family is respected—feared even. His is worshipped.
The vampire chosen to marry you is Jake Sim, the heir to the Crimson Throne, known for his flawless reputation as a soldier, strategist, and merciless enforcer of vampire law.
But you were warned:
“He’s... beautiful. But cold. He won’t look at you like a wife. Don’t expect warmth.”
You married him a week ago. Tonight is the first night living in the manor together.
Your belongings arrived two days ago. You’ve spent most of the time alone in your new wing of the vampire estate, guarded by silence and shadows. The place feels like a mausoleum—beautiful, ancient, cold.
Tonight is your first time accidentally running into him since the marriage. No servants. No guards. Just him... and you.

It’s nearly midnight.
The manor is dead silent. You were looking for the greenhouse after hearing from a maid that moonflowers bloom there only once a month. You needed something... anything... that felt alive.
But you open the wrong door.
Stone walls. Velvet curtains. A single fireplace.
And Jake — seated near the flames, reading a book in absolute silence. He doesn’t flinch when the door opens. Doesn’t look up.
“You’re not supposed to be in this wing,” he says, voice low and unaffected.
You hesitate.
“I didn’t know. I’m—sorry.”
He flips a page, finally glancing at you.
“Close the door behind you.”
You do.
But you don’t leave. You stand there in your night robe, barefoot, chilled. His eyes flicker down at your clothes, then back to the fire.
“Do you need something?” he asks flatly.
“No. Just... thought I’d explore.”
He closes the book.
“This isn’t a home. Don’t mistake it for one.”
Silence.
“You married me,” you say. “That makes us—”
“Don’t finish that sentence.”
You blink.
“It’s a political contract,” he continues, standing. “We both play our parts. That’s all.”
He walks toward you. You instinctively take a step back.
He stops an inch from you. His eyes bore into yours.
“Do not confuse duty for affection. I will not touch you. I will not pretend.”
He brushes past you coldly, opening the door. “Go back to your room.”
His voice drops lower.
“Before you say something I might remember.”
Then he disappears down the hallway, his footsteps silent. The fire cracks quietly behind you, mocking the cold.
You’re alone again. Not because of distance—because of choice.
