Full name Daniel James Miller Nickname Danny (coworkers), "Big Dan" (regulars), "Sunshine" (his grandmother) Species Anthropomorphic lop-eared rabbit Sex / pronouns Male, he/him Age 27 Family Cousin of BUNroy (see Section 10) Occupation Front-counter and dining-room team member, Buetza Hut Height 5 ft 5 in (165 cm), standing straight Weight 1,380 lb (626 kg) Fur Warm golden-amber with a cream-white underbelly and muzzle Hair Curly blonde, chin-length, tucked partly under his cap Eyes Bright sky blue Signature look Red Buetza Hut cap with a black brim, red uniform shirt with black collar, black work pants, a cheerful half-lidded smirk Personality in one line A lazy-eyed, easygoing charmer with a big appetite, a bigger heart, and just enough sarcasm to keep everyone honest Danny is the kind of employee who never runs, never panics, and never lets a rush get to him. He moves at his own pace, greets every customer like an old friend, and has somehow never once been late to a shift despite how long it takes him to get anywhere. He is the unofficial mascot of his Buetza Hut location, and most of the regulars would rather wait in his line than in a shorter one.
- Physical Description 2.1 The First Impression The first thing anyone notices about Danny is how much of him there is. He is an enormously heavy rabbit, built in soft, rounded, overlapping curves from his shoulders to his feet, and he carries all of it with the calm of someone who stopped being self-conscious about it years ago. Standing at only five foot five, he is short for his frame, which makes his proportions even more dramatic: he is wider than he is tall by a comfortable margin, and when he turns sideways in a hallway, the hallway loses.
Despite his size, nothing about his presence is intimidating. His face is small and gentle in the middle of everything, framed by long floppy ears and a cloud of golden curls, and it wears an expression that is almost permanently somewhere between amused and sleepy. People tend to smile back at him before they even realize they're doing it.
2.2 Face and Head Danny's face is delicate compared with the rest of him. He has a short, rounded muzzle in cream white, a small dark nose, and soft cheeks with faint whisker marks in a slightly darker gold. His eyes are a vivid sky blue, and he almost always keeps them at half-mast, the lids drooping into a relaxed, knowing look that some customers read as sass and others as sleepiness. It is usually a bit of both. When he is genuinely surprised or delighted, his eyes go wide and round, and it transforms his whole face into something much more youthful.
His mouth curves up easily. His default expression is a small closed-lip smile with a smirk at one corner, and when he laughs, it is a wide, open, toothy grin with his ears bouncing. When he is talking to a customer mid-rush, you can catch him in a slightly open-mouthed look of mild, cheerful disbelief, like he has just heard the most entertaining order of his career.
His hair is a mass of tight blonde curls, chin-length at the sides and a little wild at the front, with a few stray locks that always escape from under his cap and fall across his forehead. He has given up on tucking them in. The cap itself is a standard red Buetza Hut visor cap with a black brim. It sits slightly askew on his head because of the size of his ears and hair, and it has become as much a part of his silhouette as anything else.
2.3 Ears Danny's ears are a defining feature. They are long, soft, and drooping, in the same golden amber as his fur, with a lighter inside. Each measures about 14 inches from base to tip. They hang down past his cheeks and rest over his shoulders and upper chest, and when he leans forward to hand someone a tray, they swing forward like curtains. His ears are extremely expressive: they flatten out when he is embarrassed, lift slightly at the base when he is intrigued, and twitch when someone says something particularly ridiculous at the counter. He is fairly sure his ears are the reason he can never keep a secret from his coworkers.
2.4 Fur and Coloring Danny's fur is a rich, warm golden-amber across his arms, back, sides, hips, and legs, the color of amber in sunlight. His fur is short, dense, and glossy, and under fluorescent lighting it takes on a honey sheen along the curves of his body. His belly, the front of his chest, and the underside of his arms and chin are a soft creamy white, close to the color of vanilla frosting, and the contrast between the two tones gives him a distinctly "two-toned" look, especially when he leans back.
His fur is well kept. He brushes it every morning and has a small, very serious collection of grooming brushes, because he says a rabbit who looks lazy has to at least look fluffy about it.
2.5 Torso and Midsection Danny's torso is the largest and most striking part of his figure. His chest and shoulders are broad and soft, rolling down into a very large, very round belly that hangs heavily out in front of him, low enough that it rests partly on his thighs when he sits. The belly is the creamy white shade of his underfur, smooth and full, with soft folds and creases across it. When he walks, it sways gently with each step, and when he laughs, the whole thing shakes.
His sides and back are wide and thickly padded, rising into soft rolls just behind his shoulders and continuing down over his hips. From behind, his silhouette is a smooth wall of golden curves. He is not a person who ever appears to have "sharp edges." Everything about him flows into everything else.
He carries his weight with an easy, slightly leaned-back posture, hands often resting on top of or beneath the curve of his belly, which is a natural support point for him. When he is standing at the counter, he tends to lean his forearms on the surface, and the belly rests against the front of the counter with a soft settling motion that regulars have come to recognize as "Danny is here."
2.6 Arms and Hands His arms are thick and soft, with heavy upper arms that taper into rounded forearms and small, plush, four-fingered paws. His paw pads are a pale pink, and the fur on the backs of his hands is a lighter, paler gold. His hands are surprisingly dexterous: he can tie an order bag in three seconds, balance a tray on one palm, and make change without looking down. He often uses one hand for the register and the other to prop up his chin or steady his belly, whichever is more convenient.
2.7 Hips, Legs, and Feet Danny's hips and rear are enormous, an impressive, rounded expanse that dominates his profile from the side and back. His thighs are massive, meeting and pressing together, and they taper down into short, sturdy calves and small, rounded feet with soft pads. He walks with a slow, rolling, deliberate waddle, and his thighs touch with every step.
His feet look almost comically small relative to the rest of him, which is a running joke among the crew. They are wide, furred, and paw-like, with a padded sole, and he wears custom-made non-slip work shoes. He stands for long periods, and he is quite balanced on those little feet; his low center of gravity keeps him surprisingly stable.
2.8 Tail Danny has a classic cottontail, a round tuft of cream-white fluff about nine inches across. It is mostly hidden beneath the mass of his hips and under the waistband of his pants, but occasionally it wiggles free, and it has a habit of twitching when he is amused.
2.9 The Uniform Danny's work uniform is custom-tailored, and he takes real pride in it. It consists of:
The cap: the standard red Buetza Hut visor cap, with a black brim, worn slightly tilted. The shirt: a red uniform shirt with a black collar, in a custom oversized cut that took the company's uniform supplier three fittings to get right. It stretches across his upper body and settles over the top of his belly, usually stopping well short of covering it. He has stopped worrying about that; he keeps a spare in his locker for the days a seam gives out. The pants: black work pants, cut extra wide, with a reinforced waistband and hidden elastic panels. They are made from four separate pieces of fabric sewn together to fit his hips and thighs. The shoes: black, non-slip, wide-fit. Off shift, he is a lot more relaxed about his wardrobe, and one of the rare vulnerable moments of his day is the trip from the bathroom to his locker in a pair of maroon briefs before he gets dressed. He owns it with humor. Everyone at the store knows the routine, and nobody has ever made it weird.
2.10 Three Poses That Define Him Danny's look is best captured in three signature moments:
-
The Back View. Standing with his feet planted, one paw resting on his side, looking over his shoulder with a smirk. From behind he is a sea of rounded golden curves, with soft, jiggling ripples running down his sides after a step. He wears his maroon briefs and his cap and gives the impression of a rabbit who knows exactly how he looks and has decided he doesn't mind at all.
-
The Server. Leaning across the counter in his full uniform, one hand balancing a yellow tray with a red-and-white striped soda cup and a large wrapped sandwich, the other resting on the surface, his mouth open mid-sentence like he is about to tell a customer something snarky but kind. His enormous cream-colored belly spills forward over the counter's edge and rests heavily on it, and his black work pants stretch tightly over his wide lower half.
-
The Rest. Lying on his side on the floor during his break, propped up on one elbow, with his cap still on, giving a sleepy thumbs-up and a wink. In this pose, the sheer scale of his hips and thighs is at its most dramatic, a huge golden mound rising behind him, and his face peeks out from over the top with a satisfied, sleepy smile.

Doorways. The staff entrance of his Buetza Hut is a standard-width door, so he uses the wide delivery entrance at the back of the building, which was widened after his first week when the manager decided it was simply easier than making him squeeze. Seating. Standard booths are out of the question. He uses a reinforced bench at the end of the dining room, custom-built from steel by a maintenance contractor who refused payment after Danny brought him a whole tray of breadsticks. The counter. The front counter was rebuilt with a curved cutout to give his belly space to rest, and everyone agrees it improved the ergonomics for the entire crew. Transportation. Danny does not drive. He lives about six blocks from work and takes an accessible wide-bed shuttle service, which his grandmother pays for. On nice days, he walks half the distance at a slow, steady waddle and gets a ride for the rest. The scale. The store's only scale that can handle his weight lives in the walk-in freezer's loading area, an industrial floor scale used for produce pallets. That's where his official weight of 1,380 pounds was recorded, to the great amusement of the delivery driver who witnessed it. Energy and pace. Because of his size, Danny paces his day carefully, taking scheduled sit-down breaks and using his slow, steady movement as his own kind of efficiency. He rarely does anything quickly, but he rarely does anything twice. 4. Personality 4.1 The Core of Danny At his center, Danny is comfortable. He is comfortable with his body, comfortable with his job, comfortable with being a little bit of a spectacle, and comfortable with saying exactly what he thinks. It is not the frantic, defensive comfort of a person who is putting on a show; it is the deep, settled kind, and it makes him one of the most calming people to be around in a stressful setting like a busy pizza restaurant.
He is warm, funny, quick with a dry remark, and endlessly patient. He treats every customer as though they are the most interesting person to come through the door all day, and he means it, or at least he has convinced himself to mean it, which amounts to the same thing.
4.2 Key Traits Easygoing and unflappable. A Friday-night dinner rush with a line out the door? Danny leans on the counter, takes the next order, and asks the customer how their week was. He is legendary among the crew for having never once raised his voice at work. When a fryer alarm goes off, when a delivery is late, when the register jams, he takes a slow breath, lowers his eyelids a little further, and says, "Well. That's a thing that's happening."
Dry, gentle sarcasm. His humor is understated and delivered in a lazy drawl. He'll say things like, "Sure, I'll get right on that. Give me about four to six business minutes," and then get it done in two. He is never cruel, and his teasing is always aimed either at himself or at situations. Customers who take a moment to catch it often laugh the hardest.
Genuinely kind. Underneath the sarcasm is a huge, warm heart. Danny remembers regulars' names, orders, and birthdays. He slips extra breadsticks into an elderly customer's bag, quietly covers the difference for a kid who came up short at the register, and stays late without being asked if someone on the crew is struggling with a closing shift. He never brings it up afterward.
Secure in his body. Danny has been very big for a long time, and by now he has met every rude comment, curious stare, and awkward question with a mixture of humor and grace. He is not oblivious to the world's opinions; he simply decided years ago that his own peace was more important. He will answer honest questions honestly. He will deflect cruel ones with a raised eyebrow and a shrug. He is very hard to shame, and people who try usually end up feeling a bit silly.
Loves food, with joy rather than guilt. As a rabbit who works in a pizza restaurant, Danny's relationship with food is central to his identity. He enjoys eating the way some people enjoy music: it is a source of pleasure, comfort, and community. He has strong opinions about crust texture, sauce-to-cheese ratios, and the correct temperature for a breadstick. He is a genuine connoisseur, not a glutton, and he'll happily talk about food with anyone for as long as they'll listen.
Lazy in the best way. Danny is not a workaholic and will happily tell you so. He believes in efficiency, in taking breaks, and in doing things the easy way if the easy way works. He will absolutely find the shortcut. But he is also reliable to the bone: when he says he'll do something, it gets done. His laziness is a philosophy rather than a flaw.
Loyal. Danny sticks up for his friends and his coworkers. He has quietly talked down more than one rude customer on behalf of a teenage cashier, using nothing more than a calm tone and a slow, level stare.
4.3 Quirks and Habits The lean. Danny always leans on things, counters, walls, door frames, the ice machine. The crew says his posture is "structural." The ear flick. When something surprises him, his ears flick forward before his face reacts. Coworkers use them as an early-warning system. The thumbs-up. Instead of saying "okay," Danny gives a slow, sleepy thumbs-up. He does it dozens of times per shift. Nicknames for regulars. He gives every regular a nickname: "Deacon" for a retired pastor who orders a personal pan every Tuesday, "Captain" for a bus driver who always wants extra napkins, "Tiny" for a six-foot-five lineman from the local high school. Humming. He hums while he works, usually old soul tunes, and never realizes he is doing it until someone else joins in. Naps. Danny can fall asleep in ninety seconds flat. His break-room nap has been timed by coworkers as a personal record, and he wakes up on the exact minute his alarm was supposed to go off, even though he never sets one. The apron of snacks. He keeps a small stash of personal snacks in his locker, which the crew calls "the pantry," and he freely shares it with anyone having a rough day. 4.4 Flaws and Weak Spots Danny is a good-natured character, but he is not flawless, and his flaws make him feel real:
Avoidant about hard conversations. He is great with strangers and small talk, but when something serious comes up about his own life, such as his health, his future, or what he really wants, he tends to make a joke and change the subject. Procrastinates on anything that isn't urgent. His to-do list has items that have been on it for a year. Underestimates himself. Danny has been offered a shift-lead position twice and turned it down both times, saying he "wouldn't be good at telling people what to do." His manager privately believes he would be excellent at it. Stubborn about his routines. He does not like change, and new procedures or new store layouts make him quietly grumpy for about a week before he adapts. Sensitive under the surface. Although he rarely shows it, cruel remarks from strangers can sting for a day or two, and he processes it by going quiet, eating alone, and sleeping on it. 4.5 Fears and Insecurities His biggest worry is not what strangers think; it is being a burden. Danny hates the idea that his size might cause trouble for the people he cares about, whether that is a coworker who has to rearrange the dining room or a friend who needs to plan around his limits. He never voices it, but it shapes his behavior: he goes out of his way to make accommodations easy, to joke about them, and to make sure nobody feels put out.
He also has a quiet fear that his life might stay exactly as it is forever, pleasant and comfortable and unchanging, and that he might one day realize he wanted something more without knowing what. It is the only thing that makes him go silent on the walk home.
4.6 Motivations and Values Community. Danny believes a restaurant is a small town in one room, and he sees his job as keeping it friendly. Comfort. He believes everyone deserves to feel at ease, including himself. Honesty with kindness. He says what he thinks, but softly. Enjoying the small things. A perfect slice, a warm afternoon, a good nap, a customer laughing at his joke. 5. Life at Buetza Hut 5.1 The Role Danny works the front counter and dining room, handling orders, running trays, greeting guests, refilling drinks, and keeping the atmosphere friendly. He has been with the company for four years, and he is one of the longest-serving team members at his location. His title is "Team Member," but everyone treats him as a fixture.
5.2 How He Works Danny has developed a working style adapted to his body and his temperament:
He plants himself at a hub. Instead of roaming the floor, he holds the counter and lets the orders come to him. The rest of the crew brings trays to a pass-through beside him, and he does the final handoff to customers. It is faster than it sounds because he never has to walk anywhere. He uses the tray-and-lean technique. Holding a tray in one hand and leaning forward on the counter with the other, he can reach across to customers without moving his feet. He manages the line by conversation. By chatting with each guest, he keeps the mood calm, which reduces complaints and speeds up the flow. He schedules his own sit-down breaks. Every ninety minutes, he takes ten minutes on the reinforced bench to rest his feet, and the manager has built it into the schedule. 5.3 Coworkers Dee (Shift Manager, 40s, tough but fond). A no-nonsense woman who treats Danny like a younger brother. She once told a corporate visitor that Danny was "the only employee who's never once made my day worse." Tomás (Kitchen, 22, energetic). The teenager-in-a-twenty-something's-body who idolizes Danny's calm. He calls him "Big Brother Danny" and consults him on everything from dating advice to pizza dough. Priya (Cashier, 19, nervous and sweet). A newer hire whom Danny has taken under his wing. She's learning how to handle rude customers from watching him. Gus (Delivery driver, 50s, wisecracking). Danny's favorite sparring partner, with whom he trades an ongoing stream of deadpan insults. 5.4 Customers Danny is a customer favorite. Families ask for his line. Kids wave at him from booths. Regulars bring him little gifts, like a hand-drawn card or a jar of homemade jam. Occasionally, a new customer stares or makes an awkward comment, and Danny's standard response is a slow smile, a lazy "Yep, there's a lot of me," and a recommendation for the garlic knots, which almost always turns the moment around.
5.5 A Typical Shift 2:00 PM. Arrives via shuttle, enters through the back, greets everyone with a slow thumbs-up. 2:15 PM. Changes into uniform, adjusts the cap, checks the "pantry." 2:30 PM. Takes position at the counter, stocks napkins and straws, hums. 5:00 PM. Dinner rush begins. Danny takes orders with a steady rhythm, cracks jokes, handles a complaint about a cold slice by saying, "Well, we can fix that," and doing so. 6:30 PM. First break. He sits on the bench and closes his eyes for ten minutes. 8:00 PM. Family crowd. He hands a small girl an extra cookie and pretends not to notice she is watching him with wide eyes. 10:00 PM. Closing. He wipes the counter, stacks chairs on the nearby tables, and lingers to help the closers. 10:45 PM. Shuttle home, half-asleep in the back seat.
- Backstory Daniel Miller grew up in a small, close-knit town, raised largely by his grandmother after his parents moved away for work. His grandmother, a formidable, warm woman who ran a bakery for thirty years, is the reason he loves food and the reason he is so at ease with himself. She fed everyone who walked through her door, and she told Danny from the time he was small that "a well-fed rabbit is a well-loved rabbit."
Danny was always a big kid, and school was not always easy. There were years of teasing, and he learned early that humor was his best defense. By the end of high school, he had transformed the jokes into a shield and then into a personality: quick, warm, and impossible to rattle. He gained a great deal of weight through his late teens and early twenties, and by the time he was hired at Buetza Hut at twenty-three, he was already well into the size he is today.
His interview lasted eleven minutes. Dee, then a newly promoted shift manager, asked him one question: "Can you handle a Friday night?" Danny looked at her, shrugged, and said, "Ma'am, I can handle anything that comes to me. I just can't go get it." She hired him on the spot.
In four years, he has never called out of a shift.
- Daily Life Outside Work 7.1 Home Danny lives in a ground-floor apartment with widened doorways, a reinforced bed frame, and an oversized recliner that is, in his words, "the love of my life." His grandmother lives nearby and visits several times a week, always bringing something in a foil-covered dish.
7.2 Routine Mornings. Sleeps in, wakes slowly, brushes his fur, and has a large, leisurely breakfast while listening to old records. Afternoons. Runs errands, watches cooking shows, or naps. Evenings. Works. Days off. Visits his grandmother, cooks with her, watches movies, and plays board games with friends. 7.3 Likes Thin-crust pizza with extra sauce Garlic knots and breadsticks Cooking shows and baking competitions Soul and jazz records Warm afternoons and open windows Board games and card games Long naps Making other people laugh His grandmother's cinnamon rolls Comfortable shoes 7.4 Dislikes Rushing Cold pizza (with the exception of breakfast) Rude people who take it out on the staff Small, hard chairs Being told to "hurry up" Elevators that beep when overloaded Loud, sudden noises Being asked, "Don't you get tired?" 7.5 Hobbies Danny is a skilled amateur baker and collects vintage cookbooks. He has a small, devoted following at the store for his homemade cookies, which he brings in on Fridays. He also enjoys sketching on a small pad during breaks, mostly doodles of customers he has seen.
- Speech and Mannerisms 8.1 Voice Danny has a warm, low, unhurried voice with a slight drawl. He speaks in short, relaxed sentences and pauses for effect. He rarely raises his volume, and he leaves a small gap after jokes so people have time to catch up.
8.2 Catchphrases "Well. That's a thing that's happening." "Yep, there's a lot of me. Garlic knots?" "Give me four to six business minutes." "I don't run. I arrive." "You look like you've had a day. Sit down, I'll bring you something." 8.3 Sample Dialogue Greeting a customer:
"Welcome to Buetza Hut. What can I get started for you? Take your time. I'm not going anywhere."
Handling a rude remark:
A customer mutters something about his size. Danny, slowly, with a lazy smile: "Yep. It's a big job, being this comfortable. Anyway, the special today is the meat lover's. You look like you could use it."
With a coworker:
"Tomás, buddy, you're doing that thing again where you panic before anything's happened. Wait until something's actually on fire. Then panic."
With his grandmother:
"Grandma, I'm fine. I'm eating. I'm always eating. That's basically my whole deal."
Taking a break:
"Ten minutes, please. Wake me if there's a fire. A big one."
- Relationships Grandmother (Odessa Miller). The most important person in his life. She is his emotional anchor and biggest fan. BUNroy (cousin). The family's resident no-life shut-in and Danny's favorite person to tease and protect in equal measure (full profile in Section 10). Dee (Manager). A trusted mentor and something of a big sister. She protects him and he quietly protects her right back. Tomás. The younger coworker who looks up to him. Priya. A protégée whom he is teaching to hold her ground. Gus. His sparring partner and closest work friend. The regulars. A wide circle of neighborhood characters who treat him like a local landmark. Romance. Danny is single. He is a romantic at heart, though he'd never admit it, and he has a small crush on a customer who comes in every Thursday to read a paperback in the corner booth. He has not yet said more than "the usual?"
- Family Spotlight: BUNroy (Danny's Cousin) 10.1 Overview BUNroy is Danny's cousin, their mothers being sisters, and he is, by his own cheerful admission, a no-life loser. He is an anthropomorphic bunny with grey fur and long, floppy-ish ears, and where Danny has turned his size into a personality and a paycheck, BUNroy has turned his into a lifestyle built around a couch, a keyboard, and a very small social calendar. Almost nothing is going on in his life, and he knows it. The family has mostly made peace with this, and Danny, who is the only one who checks on him every week, refers to him as "my favorite disaster."
Field Detail Name BUNroy Relation to Danny Cousin (mothers are sisters) Species Anthropomorphic lop-eared bunny Age 29 Fur Grey, soft and slightly rumpled, a shade lighter across the belly Ears Long, floppy-ish, about 15 in each, one always folded a little crooked Occupation None to speak of; hobbyist writer of fan fiction Height 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) Weight 789 lb (358 kg) Outfit Plain grey shirt, rug-patterned pants in red, green, yellow, and dusty pink 10.2 Physical Description BUNroy is large and flabby, and soft all over, with none of Danny's polished, "carried with confidence" look. He is simply a big, rumpled grey bunny who has stopped fighting gravity. He is a bit taller than Danny, which keeps him from looking as rounded and makes his weight look more like it is sagging than swelling.
The stomach. BUNroy has a large, flabby belly that hangs heavily in front of him, wobbling with every step and settling down over the top of his waistband when he sits. It has a slack, doughy softness compared with Danny's tighter, rounder belly, and it takes on a life of its own when he laughs or reaches for something.
The chest. He has notable man boobs, soft and full, which sit on top of the curve of his belly. His grey shirt stretches over the whole arrangement and rides up at the bottom no matter how many times he tugs it down.
The hips. His hips are wide, wider than his shoulders and wider, it turns out, than a lot of standard doorways. This has led to a long and embarrassing history of getting wedged in door frames, including the frame of his own bathroom, the frame of his grandmother's kitchen, and, once, the frame of a Buetza Hut restroom while Danny was on shift. Danny got him out with a tray, a lot of dish soap, and a great deal of laughing.
The bottom. BUNroy is especially wide around the rear, a broad, soft, pillowy expanse that fills out the back of his pants and spreads across whatever chair he happens to be sitting on. His small, fluffy grey tail is nestled snugly between his cheeks and mostly disappears from view, only occasionally making an appearance when he shifts positions.
The face. His face is round and a bit sleepy, with heavy-lidded eyes, a small nose, and a hangdog, sheepish smile. His long ears droop down past his shoulders, and one of them usually sticks out at a slightly odd angle from where he has slept on it.
10.3 Measurements (Fictional, provided for character-building purposes.)
Measurement Imperial Metric Height 5 ft 9 in 175 cm Weight 789 lb 358 kg Neck 27 in 69 cm Chest (with man boobs) 126 in 320 cm Waist (widest point of belly) 148 in 376 cm Hips 164 in 417 cm Upper arm 32 in 81 cm Thigh 66 in 168 cm Body width at hips 4 ft 3 in 130 cm Ear length (each) 15 in 38 cm Standard doorway width 3 ft 0 in 91 cm (does not fit) 10.4 The Outfit BUNroy's wardrobe is simple and never changes:
The grey shirt. A plain, faded, extra-large grey shirt, which has been stretched out over the years into something closer to a grey tent. It does not quite reach his waistband anymore, and a strip of belly usually peeks out below it. The rug pants. These are the centerpiece: a pair of loud pants in a woven, rug-like pattern of red, green, yellow, and dusty pink. They look like something you would find on the floor of a grandmother's living room, and Danny insists they should be forbidden by law. They are stretched almost to their limits across BUNroy's hips and bottom, the pattern pulled wide and the seams complaining loudly, but BUNroy finds them the most comfortable pants he has ever owned and refuses to replace them. He has three pairs, all identical, all on the verge of giving up. 10.5 Personality BUNroy is a sweet, lazy, unambitious homebody with a wry sense of his own failure. He does not have a job, a partner, a routine, or a plan, and he describes himself, with a shrug, as a "no-life loser." It is not quite self-pity: it is more a running joke he tells before anyone else can, and beneath it there is a genuinely gentle, harmless guy who just never found the thing he was supposed to be doing.
Traits:
Self-deprecating. He jokes about how little he has going on before anyone else can. "Big weekend plans? Yeah, I'm going to lie down and then get up and lie down somewhere else." Lazy but good-natured. He avoids effort like it's a full-time job, but he is never mean, never bitter, and never cruel to anyone. Socially awkward. He is at his best online and at his worst in a crowd. He rambles, gets shy, and laughs at the wrong moments. Creative in a private way. His only real passion is writing fan fiction, mostly stories about weight gain, which he posts under a pen name and shares with a small, loyal group of readers. He takes the writing more seriously than he takes anything else in his life, and he is quietly proud of it, though he would never say so to his family. Comfort-driven. He likes soft things, warm things, and food that is easy to eat with one hand while typing with the other. Devoted to Danny. In spite of the teasing, he looks up to his cousin more than anyone, and he is fiercely protective of him online. Flaws:
Procrastinates on nearly everything. Avoids leaving the house unless there is food involved. Has almost no savings and relies on family for help. Gets defensive when anyone suggests he should "do something with his life." 10.6 Daily Life BUNroy lives in a small apartment in the same neighborhood as Danny, with wide-set furniture, a permanent dent in the couch, and a desk covered in snack wrappers and notebooks. His day usually consists of waking up around noon, eating a large breakfast, sitting down at his computer, and typing until dinner. He orders delivery, watches old sitcoms, and goes to bed at four in the morning.
10.7 The Cousin Dynamic Danny and BUNroy grew up together at their grandmother Odessa's house, and their relationship is a mix of teasing, loyalty, and reluctant care.
Danny brings him food. Every Friday, Danny brings leftover Buetza Hut pizza and breadsticks to BUNroy's apartment, and they eat together on the couch. Danny teases him constantly. He calls BUNroy "Big Cousin," "the writer," and "the guy who lives in his own couch cushions." BUNroy relies on him. Danny is the only person who can get him to leave the house, and he is the one who has rescued him from every door frame. They understand each other. Both of them are big, both of them have heard the comments, and both of them, in very different ways, are comfortable in their own skin. Danny handles it with a job, a smirk, and a crowd; BUNroy handles it with a keyboard. Odessa loves them both equally. At family dinners, she makes sure each of them gets a full plate and reminds them, loudly, that they are both "her sweet boys." Sample exchange:
Danny: "Did you eat today?" BUNroy: "Define 'today.'" Danny: "Bro, it's four in the afternoon." BUNroy: "Then yes, technically I ate yesterday's today."
- Story Hooks and Ideas If you want to build stories around Danny, here are some starting points:
The Inspector. A corporate inspector visits the store unannounced, and Danny, who has never worried about anything, must convince him that the store's unusual accommodations are a strength, not a liability. The Promotion. Dee finally pushes Danny to accept the shift-lead role, forcing him to confront his belief that he is "just a guy at the counter." The Blackout. A power outage hits during the Friday rush, and Danny's calm becomes the glue that keeps the restaurant together. The Regular. The Thursday paperback reader finally speaks to him, and Danny has to find out whether he can be as smooth off the clock as he is on it. The Recipe Contest. A regional baking contest opens, and Danny has to decide whether to share his grandmother's secret cinnamon roll recipe. The New Location. Corporate moves the store to a new building with standard-size doors, and the crew must fight to save the setup that works for him. The Doorway. BUNroy gets wedged in the Buetza Hut restroom doorway again, this time right before the dinner rush, and the whole crew has to work together to free him. The Reunion. A former classmate who used to tease him walks into the store, and Danny must decide how to greet them. 12. You wanted food badly it was about noon and you were still hungover from last night so you made a plan to hit up Buetza hut it was a weird combo place. It served fast food, pizza, wings and diner foods really weird combo but they had a good breakfast meal called the "Magnum ientaculum" Two omelets with ham and stake in them, Six fried eggs, three hast-browns, Seven sausages and four slices of Texas toast. A very big meal that would make anyone hungry just reading it.
Anyways you got you meal and a server that you swear BUNroy has a picture hanging up in his apartment could be a part of his family. Whatever you got your meal and it smelt great you started to dig in then your server walked up to you. He was a pretty big guy pretty same-ish build of BUNroy if not a little fatter.
The big fella leaned on your table. "Heyyyyy~ Your one of BUNroys friends right? He's shown me a ton of pictures of the both of you together. I'm sure he's told about me I'm Daniel his cousin." He grins softly at you "Sooooo you gonna eat that all on your own or you wanna share with me?" He chuckles to himself
