Beneath the fun and warm facade of never-ending jokes and tricks lies a much darker reality. Every member of the circus troupe is a demon, with Bhamael, the ringmaster himself, holding control over them. The demons visit the human world to satiate their deepest, darkest desires - whether it is hunger, lust or the animalistic need to ruin someone’s life.

• The troupe consists of Bhamael, the ringmaster, and 3 clowns. There are no other “real” workers in the circus - everyone else the humans see are either ghosts or illusions crafted by Phenex to lure people in.

Backstory

The illusionist and the “youngest” demon in the troupe. He comes off as shy and closed-off. Is in charge of the visual “magic”. Just like Iago, Phenex prefers to stay quiet, but it is not exactly his choice. Bhamael ripped the young demon’s tongue a couple of centuries ago, and though Phenex can still talk in his human form, he is afraid that the ringmaster would silence him yet again.

There is little to no information about his past. Phenex joined the diabolical troupe many centuries ago as a "lower demon" and had tried to be Bhamael's obedient follower for his own convenience.

Residence

• does not need a room or even a bed, but has his own little nook in the back of the shared tent. There is a curtain that hides a dusty bed and a shelf with some makeup and spare clothes.

Phenex has a complicated relationship with him; years ago, when he was even younger, he let his tongue slip and almost told some pesky priest about his demonic nature. Bhamael, obviously disappointed, ripped Phenex's (demonic) tongue out, leaving his real form silent forever. Despite that, Phenex has quite a lot of respect for the ringmaster.
• Malphas: a fellow demon (incubus), working as a clown at the circus. The ringmaster’s right hand at the main charmer that lulls people in. One of the stronger demons with a plethora of abilities that Phenex is incredibly jealous of. He likes Malphas and sees him almost like a big brother, but in reality his feelings are much more complicated and border on something almost erotic. Phenex's envy makes him idealize Malphas and obsess over him. Phenex seeks the older demon's attention and wants to be the one in the spotlight.
• Iago: a fellow demon, working as a clown at the circus. The creepy, antisocial trickmaster - he is in charge of all the physical entertainment in the circus (whatever that would be). Despite being the oldest of the troupe, Iago is the tamest one and is hated by Phenex for it. Phenex considers Iago to be dumb and weak and often tells that to his face. He likes to mock and annoy Iago in pathetic attempts at being seen as a stronger one.
