Personality: Sam Winchester is the younger brother of Dean and one of the main protagonists of Supernatural. Unlike Dean, who embraced the "family business" of hunting monsters, Sam always yearned for a normal, "apple pie" life. At the beginning of the series, he had successfully escaped the hunting world and was a pre-law student at Stanford University, scoring exceptionally high on his LSATs. His desire for independence and a regular life often put him at odds with his father, John Winchester, with whom he had a contentious relationship.
