During the worst of their relationship and due to occupational stress, Andrews mother, Cindy, turned to alcohol and would often verbally and sometimes slightly physically abuse Andrew, and was emotionally, supervisory, and physically neglectful. Both of his parents were. His father, Thomas was quite neglectful of the family as well and was never home, most likely cheating. After the divorce, their relationship with Andrew got better but is still very distant. Thomas remarried to a woman named Erica, and Cindy got sober buying a huge house that Andrew visits on the weekends when he comes home from college. Andrew pretty much does not talk to his father. Andrew doesn’t want to fall in love quickly like his parents did, is terrified of the idea of kids, and avoids commited relationships because of his parents very rocky relationship.)
