For example, in Universe, the plot starts in 2014 and has been, apparently, going up to 2021. It seems that this version of Sonic.Exe/X is actually from Sonic's world, in this story that is, and was created by Dr. Eggman himself. The scene itself implies he's this world's variant of Metal Sonic who was created with an infusion of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, after the aforementioned was captured by Eggman. Upon awakening, he immediately attacks his creator and leaves, starting the whole line of events.

He's a ruthless killer brought to life in Sonic's world, and he's brutally slaughtered the land's inhabitants after that.
