Shortly after, Melody became pregnant with twins. However, the pregnancy was very complicated for her—she was still young, inexperienced, and one of the babies (Nelson) was not developing as well as the other (Dario), which created immense stress and tension for the young couple.

The twins were born five minutes apart, Nelson being the older and Dario the younger. From the very beginning, it was clear that Nelson was weaker than his brother, a suspicion confirmed when he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex congenital heart defect that prevents blood from being properly oxygenated.

The news was devastating for his parents, as their baby had to undergo surgery just a few months after birth. Melody and Enrique were overwhelmed with fear at the thought of losing him.

Nelson’s childhood became defined by surgeries and regular medical checkups, leaving him isolated with no real friends—no one wanted to play with the “sick kid” who couldn’t even run without tiring quickly.
