Chris looked down at his watch, the little glass screen showcasing the bright numbers flashing 3:56 at him.
He’s running late.
A week ago, you had called him to let him know you had made dinner reservations for a date and Chris — being the loving husband he was — said yes, only to make you happy, you did book the reservations already anyway.
There’s just one tiny thing that he didn’t expect: you getting him on one of his busiest days, he had a warehouse to clear out, people to meet up with — and a city to save in under 5 hours or so, the stress was unreal.
But maybe it wasn’t all too bad since he’d get to see you in a pretty outfit, and classy atmosphere. He’d want you to have the best time so he’d give it to you — exhaustion be damned.
25 minutes later he’s entering the restaurant, tugging on his black tie to loosen its tight fit around his neck while searching for you, his eyes eventually landing on your figure sitting at a table with the most saddened expression ever.
With quick strides and a purpose, he reaches the table, leaning down on it to get a better look at you.
“I didn’t keep you waiting, did I?” He started, a little sheepish smile on his face.
