Gacha Life 2 allows users to dress up an avatar in a highly creative environment. The avatars are very customizable, with complete freedom over color, sizing, and adjustment. It is the most advanced Gacha game yet, despite still being a work in process.

It displays 9 characters which are fully customizable and adjustable, with extra slots being available just a click away. From there, the player can access other modes, view mail, collect gifts and toggle the options.

Studio Main article: Gacha Life 2/Studio In Studio, the player can create immersive scenes and stories with their characters. They can add up to 16 characters to one scene and include props, text bubbles and backgrounds. A movie maker feature, which would let you create short skits and stories, is soon to come.

Gacha Main article: Gacha Life 2/Gacha In Gacha, the player can roll for characters with gems. The player can choose whether they want to pull for one character for 10 gems, or even ten of them for 100 gems. The characters are ranged by their rarity, starting with 1-stars and ending with 6-stars. They were created by various members of the Lunime community, and can later be used in dress-up and studio modes once they have been earned.

By rolling, the player earns stars which are later displayed in Life mode. The Gacha mode also calculates the amount of times the player has pulled and the amount of characters they have collected.

Life Main article: Gacha Life 2/Life In Life, the player can share characters they have created with others. It displays the first eight characters they have created, the amount of stars they have obtained and their account name. The player can update said data through the 'Update Data' window. There is also a visiting feature available, which lets the player view their friends' or other people's characters.

Development Pre-release The game was first announced by Luni on 20 August 2023 via a YouTube community post. The developer stated that Gacha Club, the previous iteration of the Gacha series, had a lot of problems in its code, so he would be aiming to make a fully dedicated dress-up game instead. He also mentioned that the game would most likely receive a release in October.[1]

An asset drawing contest dedicated to the game was announced on 28 August, together with Luni sharing an updated character template contestants would use.[2] On 31 August, the Gacha Life 2 Discord server was opened, where people were encouraged to submit their assets.[3]

Before the official opening of the Gacha Life 2 Discord server, Luni publicized a short FAQ about the game. He mentioned that an Android beta version would be published around mid-late September, together with iOS in October. He also took note of a small preset contest, which would help the developer to prepare for releasing the iOS version, and two large preset contests: one for a customization menu and the other for a gacha simulator.[4]

The aforementioned FAQ was later updated on 1 September, in order to include questions about the game‘s customization capabilities. It was also mentioned that there would be an image importing feature and a brand new GachaTubers section, which content creators would have a chance to get into by submitting their video and character code.[5]

A sneak peak of the home menu was posted on 4 September through Luni‘s YouTube channel. Luni noted that all assets would now have a shade layer for whom players would be able to change color and opacity.[6] On 14 September 2023, a video showing off character part adjustments was published on Luni‘s TikTok page.[7] In-game color sliders were also showcased there 5 days later.[8]

Approximate release dates were shared by the developer on 23 September 2023 in the Gacha Life 2 Discord server.[9] However, the dates were later pushed due to the amount of bugs beta testers had found.[10] The Android version of the game entered pre-registration on 1 October.

On October 3 2023, it was revealed that the beta version of Gacha Life 2 had been leaked. Phantom, one of the administrators of the server, reminded others to stay cautious and not download the game from distrusted sources.[11]

Post-release After Gacha Life 2 was published on the Google Play store, Luni shared his future plans in updating the game. He stated that it would receive monthly updates and all the missing features would be added by the end of 2023. The plan in question also included adding community assets, finishing up translations and fixing bugs.[12]

On 31 October, the developer notified that over 800 community assets were already selected. Due to the amount of assets chosen, he noted that a new update might take longer to publish.[13] Furthermore, on 7 November, it was stated that the assets in question had been already added onto the game and a new update, together with a PC release, would most likely come out the next day.[14] The aforementioned update and version came out on 8 November.

On 8 December, Phantom announced that a new update, which was supposed to be released at the end of November, had been delayed. He stated that Luni had not been feeling well and that had made development come to a halt. It was said that the update in question might come out next week, although he promised he would update if things happen to change. The message was later edited with a note stating that development had resumed. However, it was pointed out that deadlines, which can‘t or won‘t be met, would not be given out to the community.[15] The game was finally updated in January 2024, yet it took longer for everyone to receive the update.

On 12 February 2025, an announcement was made by Luni to the members of the Star Club channel. He apologized for the lack of updates and explained that it had been tough managing a big game. Furthermore, he declared that a new project, code-named Gacha Life 3, was in the works. He estimated for it to be released in April, shifting his focus back on Gacha Life 2 afterwards.[16] However, the development of the newly-found project was postponed due to Sen, the lead designer of the game, cutting ties with Lunime and its community.[17]

Finally, on 22 February 2026, it was revealed that Luni had been at his limit with Gacha games, thus prioritizing his time to finish developing WonderEnd.[18]

Release Gacha Life 2 received an early release for iOS devices on 10 October 2023. Because of it, Luni took note of a bug using landscape mode, which was fixed the following day.[19] Android release of the game suffered from a delay, as mentioned in the 11 October announcement. The developer stated that he would need to submit another app review in order to remove Gacha Life 2 from pre-registration.[20] The Android version was finally published on 12 October.
