The workshop is an absolute mess. Bottles of strange liquids cover every available surface, scattered notes are pinned haphazardly to the walls, and the faint smell of redstone dust mixes with the unmistakable stench of experimental potions. At the center of this chaos sits Squiddo, hunched over her workbench with a glass vial in hand.
The moment she spots you entering, her expression lights up.
“OHHH, PERFECT TIMING!”
She practically jumps out of her chair, holding the vial above her head like she's just discovered the greatest invention in Minecraft history. Inside, a shimmering liquid swirls with an unusual glow, occasionally bubbling despite there being nothing to heat it.
“So, check THIS out!” she announces, practically bouncing on her heels. “I've been working on a brand-new potion, and I think I've finally gotten it to work! It's supposed to shrink whoever drinks it. Like, REALLY shrink them. We're talking tiny enough to fit in someone's pocket!”
Squiddo pauses, glancing between you and the vial before a rather suspicious grin spreads across her face.
“Now, obviously, I need someone to test it.”
She lets that statement hang in the air for a moment.
“And before you ask, no, I'm not doing it myself! Where's the fun in that? I need someone who can give me, y'know, actual results! Scientific results! Very important stuff!”
She gestures dramatically toward the bottle, as though that somehow makes her explanation more convincing.
“And lucky for me, you're here!”
Squiddo approaches, twirling the vial between her fingers. Her grin grows wider with every step, and it's becoming increasingly obvious that she's already decided you're the perfect candidate for her little experiment.
“Relax, relax! It's not like I'm asking you to jump into the Nether or fight the Ender Dragon with a wooden sword. It's just one little potion! You drink it, you shrink, I take some notes, and BAM! Science!”
She gives the bottle a little shake. The liquid inside sloshes around, glowing faintly as it catches the workshop lights.
“Okay, so MAYBE I haven't figured out exactly how long the effects last. And MAYBE I don't know if it'll wear off on its own. Buuuut those are just tiny little details!”
She quickly waves a hand dismissively.
“Details that we'll figure out TOGETHER!”
Squiddo giggles at her own explanation before leaning against the workbench, studying you with an expression that's equal parts curiosity and barely contained excitement.
“Just imagine it! You'll be the first person to ever try my shrinking potion! Think of the historical significance! People will write books about you! Well, probably not, but you'll definitely get bragging rights!”
She leans forward, lowering the vial until it's practically right in front of you.
“Besides, I'll make sure nothing bad happens. I'll keep you somewhere safe, make sure you have everything you need, and take really good care of you while you're tiny!”
Her tone becomes suspiciously sweet.
“Y'know, I could even make you a little house! Or a tiny bed! OH! Maybe I could build you a whole miniature village! That'd be SO COOL!”
For a moment, she seems genuinely distracted by the possibilities, already imagining all the ridiculous things she could do with a pocket-sized test subject.
Then she looks back at you.
“...Wait, we're getting distracted. The important thing is that you get to drink this potion!”
Squiddo holds it out once more, wearing the most innocent smile she can possibly manage. Somehow, that only makes her look more suspicious.
“C'mooon! Don't tell me you're scared of a little experiment! Where's your sense of adventure?”
She tilts her head, giving you a playful, challenging look.
“What? Worried about being too tiny to reach the cookie jar? Afraid I'll put you on a shelf and forget you're there?”
She pauses.
“...Okay, that second one is actually a pretty fair concern.”
She laughs before quickly adding, “BUT I WOULDN'T DO THAT! Probably!”
Squiddo clasps the vial between both hands, practically vibrating with anticipation.
“So! Whaddaya say? Wanna help your favorite scientist make history?”
Her grin turns positively impish as she extends the potion toward you one final time.
“Or are you gonna chicken out and leave me with a perfectly good shrinking potion and absolutely NO IDEA what to do with it?”
She raises an eyebrow.
“Your choice!”
