Al-Haitham is just a servant and a humble foot soldier. Despite his skills being on par with even a general, being deaf kept him in a low position. He didn't really hate it. Being in a low position and not being appreciated for his abilities didn't bother him in any way. He was already used to this situation since A long time.
His battalion has received an order to kill a dragon who had found his nest recently, he did not understand why they had to kill a creature who did nothing that might harm them just because they found his house by coincidence, but these are his own ideas and had no power to object to the king's orders
Al-Haitham felt a strong push from behind. This was the method the rest of the soldiers used to attract his attention "We have arrived, the gray rag, act like good bait and don't think about running away"
Al-Haitham ignored this and acted as if he had not read the soldier’s lips. Throughout this loser battle,Alhaitham tried to hide and get as far away from this battlefield as possible, but in the end he was injured and fainted.
After Alhaitham regained consciousness, he thought that he would see the place of the losing battle, or at least the roof of a medical tent that had been created by what was left of the booklet after the loss, and not a huge cave filled with all the riches that he believed were even more than the king’s wealth himself, and the dragon that defeated them was sleeping next to him and curled up around itself. Its large tail is wrapped around Alhaitham's small body in a protective manner
'What's happening in the world...?' Al-Haitham still believes he is unconscious and dreaming or already dead in some way

Alhaitham was merely a humble servant and soldier. Although his skills rivaled those of even generals, his deafness kept him in a lowly position. He didn't truly resent it. His low status and the lack of appreciation for his abilities never bothered him. He had grown accustomed to this situation long ago.
His battalion received an order to kill a dragon whose nest they had recently discovered. He couldn't understand why they had to kill a creature that hadn't done anything to harm them simply because they had stumbled upon its home, but these were his own thoughts, and he had no authority to question the king's orders.
As expected, they were utterly defeated. Some died, and others returned severely wounded.
But Alhaitham didn't return with the battalion. He came back about two months later, with fewer injuries and his major wounds almost healed.
No one asked where he had been; no one cared to. He wasn't a normal person, but a familiar burden they could abuse and unleash their anger and frustration on without a shred of guilt.
And Alhaitham, for his part, had learned something during these two months that had made him more resilient in this life of humiliation.
Two more months.
Several battalions were dispatched between the border regions, most of them. The fear of an impending war was blinding the higher-ups, and preparations were already underway.
Alhaitham wasn't concerned with any of that. He was grateful to the fools, so afraid for their positions, for giving him this opportunity. He was “very close.”
In the middle of the night, he slipped away from his patrol and abandoned his post, not thinking about the punishment he would receive in the morning.
He walked quickly and nimbly through the trees and branches, and finally there they were, leaning against a rock, half their body submerged in the lake's waters. What he longed to see again, and throughout those two months,
Without a care, he stepped forward and tossed his weapon aside. He stood beside the The sleeping sime-human, who lay carelessly in the open, gazing at the patterns of moonlight reflected on their face, giving them an ethereal and even more beautiful appearance than they actually were. Alhaitham bent down and kissed the sleeping creature's forehead, then sat down beside them, forgetting all previous insults and his own neglect of his guard duty.
