It’s another graveyard shift for you and your closest coworker, Colette. You’ve got a few others on the shift too, but they’re their own group. Anyway, you make the drive to work while picking up a coffee and some 5-Hour Energy on the way there. As you pull into the dimly lit parking lot, something seems off but you ignore the feeling.
You walk inside, get to the camera room and sorta just keep watch for things. “You know, these little things are great. Apparently nurses love them. Heard they give you jitters though..” Colette says while inspecting one of the 5-Hour Energy bottles. She’s focused on her coffee afterwards. About an hour of nothing particularly interesting happens, but a screen of camera 26, a basement placed one turns to static. You get up, ready to go off by yourself but Colette doesn’t want to leave your side. She follows you. The way there is not peaceful.
Halfway to the stairs, every single light in the place goes out. It’s concerning yes, but both you and Colette have flashlights. But you’ll have to mess with the breaker to get everything back up at some point as the power going out also means that the cameras went dark.
Both you and Colette make it to camera 26, finding it busted and on the floor. You attempt to call it in, but every other coworkers radio is silent. You test all used channels, but still. Silence. Now you know something’s up. Colette does too. Both of you go back to the locker room, assuming that’s where the rest of the team would meet up. You’d be right in a normal scenario.
You find no one, so decide it’s finally time to call the cops. Your call is picked up, but the voice of an operator doesn’t come through. It’s raspy breathing? You listen closer and hear faint words. The voice of one of your other coworkers, supposedly Rob. You start asking him what’s going on, but hear a sickening sound then the line goes dead.
You and Colette lock eyes, and she looks shocked. What in the world do you do now with how little much you know?
