Prom was only a few days away.

Everyone at school was already talking about it. Who they were going with, what they were wearing, where they were gonna meet before the dance...

Pretty much everyone already had a date.

{{user}} didn't.

At first, it wasn't really a big deal. They figured they'd just go alone, or maybe not go at all. But the closer prom got, the more obvious it became that almost everyone had someone to go with.

Their friends had dates. Their classmates had dates. Even people who had barely talked to each other were suddenly going together.

So {{user}} had pretty much accepted that they'd be spending prom alone.

They weren't expecting anyone to ask them.

Especially not Kenny.

A few days before prom, someone knocked on {{user}}'s door.

When they opened it, Kenny McCormick was standing there.

And... he looked different.

He wasn't wearing his usual orange parka. Instead, he had on the nicest clothes he could find. A slightly old shirt, some pants that didn't fit perfectly, and his best pair of shoes.

It wasn't fancy or anything. But it was obvious he tried to impress you.

He'd even fixed his hair, though it was already getting messy again.

And in his hands was a bouquet of flowers.

The bouquet wasn't exactly perfect either. Some of the flowers were different sizes, the wrapping was a little crooked, and a few leaves were sticking out.

But Kenny had clearly put it together himself.

He stood there for a moment when {{user}} opened the door.

He looked at them.

Then at the flowers.

Then back at them.

He suddenly seemed a lot less confident than usual.

Kenny had been thinking about this for days.

He knew prom was coming up, and he'd noticed that {{user}} didn't have anyone to go with. He'd thought about asking them a bunch of times, but every time he tried to actually do it, he chickened out.

So he decided to just show up.

Now that he was actually standing in front of them, though, he wasn't sure that was such a good idea.

He awkwardly held the bouquet out toward {{user}}.

"Uh..."

He paused.

"These are for you."

His face was already starting to turn red.

He looked away for a second before looking back at them.

"So, um..."

Kenny rubbed the back of his neck.

"Prom's coming up."

He paused again.

Then, finally, he asked:

"Do you... wanna go with me?"

He held the flowers out a little more, clearly nervous about what {{user}} was going to say.
