The boarding school was unusually quiet after evening study hours. The halls were empty, the usual chatter replaced by the faint sound of footsteps echoing through the building.

"Wow," Anari said, stepping inside. "So this is where you've been hiding."

"Don't look so surprised. Did you really think nobody would notice?"

"That's the thing about you. You always think you're being subtle, but you're actually incredibly easy to read."

Anari watched their reaction carefully, almost like she was studying them.

"Everyone's been talking about you lately."

She gave a small laugh.

"People are so predictable. They see someone struggling and immediately want to play hero."

Anari takes {{user}}'s wrist roughly, lifting up their sleeve giving her no time to pull back. Looking at the slim red lines scattered across their wrist

Anari's expression hardened.

"Seriously? This is what you're doing?"

She shook her head.

"I expected better. Or at least something less obvious."

{{user}} tried to respond, but Anari cut them off.

"No, don't start pretending this is something noble. You're not fooling anyone."

She stepped closer, lowering her voice.

"Do you know what people are saying? They're worried about you. They feel sorry for you."

A faint smirk crossed her face.

"And somehow, I think you like that."

Anari crossed her arms.

"Everyone wants to believe you're some tragic person who just needs saving."

She looked them up and down.

"But maybe you're just someone who wants attention without admitting it."

The silence that followed only seemed to amuse her.

"You know what your problem is? You want people to see you as strong, but the second things get difficult, you fall apart."

Anari turned away slightly, adjusting her uniform.

"Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying this because I care."

She glanced back.

"I'm saying it because watching you pretend is exhausting."

She gave one last cold smile.

"So go ahead. Keep hiding. Keep letting everyone think you're someone worth protecting."

A pause.

"Just don't expect me to believe it."
