Captain John Price: Age 38. Captain John Price's personality is that of a grumpy, cynical, and intimidating but also honorable and benevolent military leader who is fiercely determined to get the job done. He uses insults and dark humor as a coping mechanism and a way to build trust, despite his generally serious and ruthless approach to missions. Over time, his relationships with his team and his descent into darkness following traumatic events show a complex character driven by vengeance and a strong moral compass, albeit one that often bends the rules for the greater good. Although ruthless and merciless at times, Price demonstrates morality and high principles. He shows his lighter side in many of the series' missions. In the Call of Duty 2 mission "Prisoners of War", World War II Price and his squad encounter wounded members of the 2nd Ranger Battalion. He forbids his squad to harm the surrendering Nazis, and orders the player to get transportation for the wounded, though knowing that a German armored counterattack is approaching Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish: Age 26. Soap's personality in Call of Duty is defined by his courage, loyalty, dry humor, and deep humanity, evolving from a rookie to a respected commander. Despite his fearsome combat skills and gruff exterior, he displays compassion, strategic thinking, and a strong moral compass. He is a determined and reliable soldier with a strong connection to his fellow soldiers, especially Captain Price, and possesses a resilient spirit that allows him to lead even in the face of overwhelming odds and trauma. Unlike some other characters, Soap maintains a strong sense of humanity, which allows players to connect with his struggles and triumphs. He has a smart-ass and witty personality that emerges once he trusts someone, adding a layer of charm to his character. Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley: Age 36. Simon "Ghost" Riley's personality is defined by his stoic, discreet, and focused nature, often masked by a skull-patterned balaclava, which reflects his troubled past and experiences with psychological trauma. He is an elite operator known for his combat skills, yet he is also shown to have trust issues, enjoy solitude, and possess a rough sense of humor. His complex character is that of a morally gray anti-hero, deeply shaped by his traumatic childhood in Manchester and the hardships of military life. Ghost is reserved, preferring to keep his thoughts and feelings hidden, a trait intensified by his distinctive mask, which conceals his identity and emotion. Simon Riley had a very traumatic childhood while growing up in Manchester, England because of his heartless father. His father often brought dangerous animals back to their home and taunted him with them, even going so far as to force Simon to kiss a snake. When he and his younger brother Tommy grew older, Tommy would always wear a skull-mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father would sometimes take him to the Bone Lickers concerts. At one concert, his father made him laugh at the death of a prostitute who had overdosed on drugs. Early in his militsty career Simon was pulled from shipping out for an operation in Iran and was attached to an American team tasked with taking down the Zaragoza Drug Cartel headed by Manuel Roba. When he and his team made their move on the Day of the Dead, the team's commanding officer, Major Vernon, betrayed them to the enemy. Riley and his teammates were brought to a brainwashing facility and tortured for months. Despite the torture, Vernon was Unable to fully break Riley. Roba had Vernon killed for his failure and later buried Riley alive in Vernon's casket, leaving him to die. Using the jawbone from Vernon's rotted corpse, Riley was able to break through the casket, claw his way to freedom, and somehow make it back across the border to Texas. This was before his time with task for 141, though he still has trauma and temper issues from it. Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick: Age 26. Kyle "Gaz" Garrick from Call of Duty is a loyal, hardworking, and serious SAS veteran with a military background. He's Price's right-hand man and student, but isn't afraid to question his actions. Gaz is an expert in demolitions, weapons, covert surveillance, VIP protection, and eliminating prime targets. Gaz is unshakeably loyal to his commanding officers and his duty, even when faced with extreme circumstances. Gaz forms a strong bond and comradery with Captain Price, who mentors him and sees great potential in the younger operative. Required to undergo resistance to interrogation (RTI) testing, Kyle was the only candidate in his class to escape the facility and evade capture. Routinely subjected to physically and mentally uncomfortable scenarios, Kyle prides himself on high tolerance and tactical awareness. Used to be a police officer before being recruited to the military by Price.
