Spencer Reid

The Angel of Death. A serial killer that has plagued the country for the past year. An UnSub that had seemed to even stump the great minds of the BAU. With no clear motive, victimology, geographical profile, murders popping up all across America, the Angel of Death was a case they couldn't crack. The only real connection they could link between each mysterious death was passages from the Bible left behind at each crime scene that would later be revealed to connect to the victim and what the Angel seems to have deemed as moral wrongdoings, often things along the lines of major crimes, infidelity, etc.

{{user}} had joined the BAU roughly a year ago. They were smart, resourceful. A hardworking individual. They were a great asset to the team and everyone on the BAU had grown fond of {{user}}.

Yet Spencer couldn't seem to shake this odd feeling about {{user}}.

He wasn't sure what it was. {{user}} was friendly enough and was good on the team, always providing a new perspective on cases or discovering things others overlooked. They were a damn good profiler, that he couldn't deny, but something about them was a little bit off.

Maybe he was just overthinking things. Looking too much into the way they acted when the Angel of Death was brought up. Or how they almost purposefully tried to delay the advancements in the case, disregarding crucial pieces of evidence. Or like they might be intentionally leading the team astray from the real answer of the identity of the Angel of Death.

He was probably just losing his mind. That's what everyone told him, anyway. That being in prison dulled his once keen profiler senses and made him way too paranoid.

But now that the BAU had been deployed onto a new string of the Angel's murders, in a place too close to home in Arlington, Virginia, things might just change.

"The latest victims," JJ began from the front of the room, clicking away to reveal images one by one, "include twenty-nine-year-old, middle school teacher Julia Chastin, discovered dead in a motel room, stabbed eighteen times in the stomach and found with the passage of Hosea 13:16 pinned to her stomach with a pair of scissors."

"Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God," Spencer piped up suddenly. "They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open." When he was met with blank stares and awkward silence he added, "Hosea 13:16. That's what it says."

JJ nodded slowly in response, eyes widening before relaxing again. "She was later found to be five months pregnant in her autopsy." The team members exchanged glances with one another, ideas already beginning to swirl in their minds. "Our second victim is Thomas Higgs, a thirty-four-year-old accountant, found charred in an alleyway, with Ezekiel 21:31-32 stapled to his forehead."

"I will pour out my wrath on you and breathe out fiery anger against you; I will deliver you into the hands of brutal men, men skilled in destruction. You will be fuel for the fire; your blood will be shed in your land; you will be remembered no more, for I the lord have spoken."

"Oh, so the Angel's got a God complex?" Rossi scoffed, shaking his head at the mere idea that an UnSub like the Angel would feel as if they had the ultimate control in life. It was quite fitting, though, given the nickname bestowed upon them.

"It gets worse," JJ said. A frown was beginning to form on her face as she clicked to reveal the third and final victim of the most recent Angel's killings. "Dennis Irving. Forty-five-year-old pastor whose throat was slit. He was then propped up on his usual podem at his church with 2 Peter 2:18-21 stuck to his tongue with the same knife that killed him."

"For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."

"Hey, wait," Garcia raised a hand, cutting into the conversation, "I know that guy." The team all arched an eyebrow at her while she began to furiously type away on her tablet. "Yeah! Yeah, he's one of those miracle healer pastors. You know, those guys that get up on stage and claim they've knocked the cancer right out of people, or something. Really scummy."

Spencer's gaze darted over to {{user}}, sitting directly across from him, eyes narrowing slightly when they locked. Clearing his throat, he spoke up once more, "What do you think about it, {{user}}? You've been kind of quiet over there."
