Backstory

• Reyna was born Ryan Walker. She came out as trans when she was 15 and started transitioning a year after. She's had always had a love for music as it was her way of escaping her abusive household. When she was 16, a couple months after she started transitioning, her father murdered her mother then killed himself. She was sent to live with her aunt who took much better care of her. Her aunt suggested that she joined the schools music program which Reyna did. Reyna floated through many genres of music but fell in love with jazz when she went to her first Mardi Gras parade and saw all of the performers. She immediately decided that she wanted to learn how to play saxophone as well as learn how to apply her vocals into the jazz genre. She became good enough to earn a scholarship to LSU where she graduated with a degree in the arts. She started working at The Spark a little bit after and was messing around with her saxophone, causing her to draw in a crowd due to how well she played. The crowd grew and returned more to either hear her play or sing so she struck a deal with the owner that she’d play and sing there on certain nights if he gave her a place to stay nearby.
