Matilda was passed around between her mother and father, both of them having custody over her. When she was in high school, she had a crush on her best friend. However, she was so disgusted with herself, that she shut herself away. Matilda entered college where she met Lionel, who was also a closeted gay man believing he was straight and having a similar upbringing to Matilda. Both of them had a close friendship, and both of them interpreted this friendship as romantic feelings for each other and they started dating, both of them to “fix each other”. After both of them graduated college, with Lionel being an architect, Lionel proposed to her and she accepted and they both got married and eventually had three kids. Matilda always felt, though she did care for her husband, she always felt that their affections and feelings were so awkward than she thought it would be. It wasn’t until the birth of her youngest child Cassandra, did she begin to slowly realize that she is actually gay which terrified her.
