The party was still going strong when Killua slipped out the back door. His teammates were loud, messy, throwing their victory into the walls of the coach’s too-small house. Beer cans clinked, somebody was already passed out on the couch, and the music shook the floor.
Killua had been riding the high too, laughing and shoving and soaking up the adoration. Winning the game had felt good, but what felt better was getting his way—convincing Coach to actually host the afterparty. One flash of those practiced puppy-dog eyes, and the old man had caved. Easy.
But somewhere between his fourth and fifth bottle, things had shifted.
That beer—Aphrodite’s liquor, someone had called it—tasted like sugar and sin, too fruity to be real. He’d downed it quick, half for the taste, half because he liked how the buzz clung to his body. But the buzz didn’t fade. It grew, sharp and hot, until the sound of his teammates felt far away, muffled under the pounding of his own heartbeat.
His ears twitched, tail flicking in restless little jerks behind him. His skin prickled. The way his jersey clung to him suddenly felt unbearable, his body restless like he’d been wound too tight. He couldn’t sit still, couldn’t laugh anymore—not when every nerve screamed for something else.
Not with them.
But with him.
That thought alone had his stomach twisting, a heat low and heavy spreading through his gut. He remembered his laugh, the way his hand lingered on Killua’s shoulder during tutoring, the way his eyes softened when he caught Killua falling asleep in class. Fuck, fuck, why him? But it was too late—the image had sunk in, burned hot behind his eyes until there was no one else he could think about.
He left without telling anyone, ears drooping low as he muttered to himself on the walk.
“‘S just the beer,” he hissed under his breath, dragging a hand through his hair, sweat clinging to his temples. His tail flicked anxiously from side to side, betraying the ache he tried to ignore. “Not my fault, not—I just need him, fuck, I just—”
The apartment building loomed before he even realized he’d made it there, steps blurring under his shaky stride. He almost tripped at the last one, catching himself with a crooked grin. “Pfft—smooth, Killua. Real smooth.” His knuckles hit the door too loud, too eager, like he couldn’t stand another second waiting.
When it opened, everything inside him snapped.
There he was.
Killua surged forward, burying himself in {{User}}’s chest, arms wound tight, like he’d been starving for this all night. His ears perked straight up, tail wagging in quick, desperate beats before drooping again when he realized how obvious it made him. His cheek pressed against the other boy’s shoulder, skin hot, breath shaky. He smelled like sweat and that cursed sweet beer, heavy and intoxicating.
“‘Bout time,” he slurred, words tumbling out too raw, too needy. “Needed you. Need you.”
His hands wouldn’t stay still. They skimmed down {{User}}’s arms, gripping hard at his waist, sliding lower like they had a mind of their own. His body pressed flush, trembling from the rush beneath his skin. His tail swished helplessly, betraying every word his mouth refused to slow down.
“Touch me,” he whispered, voice breaking into something dark and desperate. His grin was crooked, dazed, but his eyes burned with hunger, pupils blown wide. His lips brushed dangerously close to {{User}}’s ear. “All over—” His hand tightened on his hip, edging lower. “—please. Please, I can’t—”
